Origin Effects BassRig Ampeg B15 Fliptop recreation
Chadu25 replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Effects
Same! Loving the SGT atm. I like this better than the Stomp model which requires alot of tweak IMO. -
My last minute year end purchase. I’ve been on the hunt for this thing! I’m surprised that even though these are hard to come by, they are not overpriced in the 2nd hand market. Got it for $180 from talkbass. Planning on pairing this with my Neptunium for a 2 pedal micro board project. Going for a simple board that gives me access to a clean Noble tone and a B15 amp sound Happy Christmas bass friends!

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2024?

My last minute year end purchase. I know this will be good as I’ve been on the hunt for this pedal. Planning on pairing this with my Neptunium for a 2 pedal micro board project. Happy Christmas bass friends! -
Board update. Just got an Ampeg SGT as Christmas present from my wife(she might have seen me watching tons of Ampeg SGT demos in youtube lol). Instant love on the B15 voice! Reason why I was GASsing on it. SGT switch is an always on for me. The preamp is surprisingly good! Took me few moments to dial the sound I’m after. Figured I’d be fine without the Cali76. The built in compressor is meh/okay but it works!

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2024?
Chadu25 replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Best purchase for me is this beautiful Fender American Vintage II 60s Precision bass I got for my birthday. Before this I’ve owned a Fodera Monarch 4 Standard and a Lakland 55-94 which are fantastic basses and superb build quality. Would’ve kept both but I can’t justify keeping too many high value basses since I rarely do pub gigs now. This one felt home for me. And I find myself going for a simpler setup. I’ve not even coveted or GASsed on other basses since getting this. I’m months sober on checking out other basses. My goal now is to have this beauty age and just keep playing it. Pedal wise, I’ve not had any bad/worse purchase. It’s more of me wanting to try new gear when I can that’s why you’ll see me post new iterations of my board in the thread lol. I easily move on with board setups and find myself in a rabbit hole of constantly GASsing on different stomp boxes- 119 replies

Going for the B15. Been looking desperately on a Broughton Fliptop but it’s unobtanium.
-
I’m pretty sure! Haha message me if you want it I’ll bundle it with the DCX if you are interested. My wife and I have a deal when one comes in one goes out so I can’t collect even if I want to. For practicality I’ve been an ampeg boy anyway so I’m going back to ampy sounds
-
How are you liking the SGT? I’m on the fence of getting one. In fact my wife offered to buy me a pedal of my choosing this Christmas(within budget ofc). I’m really loving the B15 tones I’ve wached in youtube but keen to know your opinion. Willing to let go of my Neptunium and DCX for this

Origin Effects BassRig Ampeg B15 Fliptop recreation

Done! Bassrig B15 sounds good! -
Ah nice to know this. I’m using a CS6 onespot. But will definitely look into this should I change PsU. Thank you!

I'm a big fan of top load jacks and power input together. Origin Effects and 3Leaf Audio are my fave pedal makers at the moment. Wish the strobo mini's input power wasn't on the side, I wouldve bought it. But I'm happy how this turned out and will just use a clip-on tuner.

Sold my Doom2 and Octabvre Mkiii few months ago. Really missed it and realized it has been part of my core sound for the stuff I do. So I bought them again. Went for the Octabvre mini in limited edition colourway this time. Glad I did. Sounds more organic and open than the mkiii. Now I’m contemplating if I should complete the 3leaf Trifecta but at the same time I don’t want to go for a bigger board to expand. 3LA is amazing!

It’s aliiiive

Dual monitors, Keyboard, gamepad and whole desk setup gives me that vibe haha I’m in gamedev and a general geek too lol Thanks man! Ngl but I’m loving the saturated tones I get from the DCX. I mostly use it in low gain settings and to saturate my cleans, get an edge of breakup. From low to high gain settings compared to my Capo(which I still love btw) it works with what I aim for the stuff I do. Just underwhelmed with the B channel of the Capo that’s why I moved on from it. It makes my Neptunium sound more juicy. So good! Quickie demo here

My year-end setup. Went full analog on my board. This will be my main rig and the HX Stomp as a standalone fly rig(using my presets based on my main board). Just received the Doom2 and Octabvre today which I bought from reverb. Surprised I didn’t pay any customs and bought them for $340 and $355.

Super love your setup mate! Are you by any chance in Gamedev or a designer or in IT industry? I get the vibes haha

In immaculate condition since I just bought it with the bass on September. I've no need for the hardcase and decluttering stuff we dont need at home. These are usually priced at around £200 Case only. The accessories and paperwork that comes with it, I'm keeping with my bass. Collection only at SW19 or can meet nearby Wimbledon.

Just got the DCX Bass. Can't wait to try it out after my work. Building an all analog nano board so it's the nth iteration lol. These 3 pedals will be my core tone for my Precision Bass Will now be using the HX Stomp as a standalone rig in times I'm lazy to bring a board.

So I'm on the hunt for a dirt pedal. Mostly going to use it as low gain to saturate my clean tone coming from my Neptunium but want something that can also be pushed further. I'm moving on my Stomp as a standalone unit(when I'm lazy and don't want to bring my board) and building an all analog nano setup. So far with, all the drive pedals I've searched in youtube, I've narrowed down between these 2 that I like. Liking the FPT as well because it can also go synthy when tweaked. If you have any experiences with one or both, do share your thoughts! Here's what I'm planning to do with my board:

Tried the Neptunium live and it sounded massive! FoH guy was so happy with my tone as much as I was. Been putting together some demo of the Neptunium since there’s none in youtube atm. Looking forward to finish it.
