Near Kingsbridge? Go and steal this
Tim2291 replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Probably not a bad decision especially as the reserve is likely to be close to the buy it now price! One oddity that has always bugged me on mine... why are the pickups for this 5 string version the size of a 4 string set! They barely extend either side of the B and G stings!- 6 replies

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386617058803?hash=item5a042c25f3:g:t4UAAOSwKHNloC-e Beautiful neck and body could be a stretch on this one... Just a small split in the headstock as well!

Our gig on Saturday was a bit of a disaster... Missing kettle leads for guitar amps, a lead failed in the rack mounted PA and whilst replacing it with a spare, multiple others got pulled out and we ran out of time... we had to use the venues system instead! My amp sounded shocking because I was in a corner and for some reason my hands weren't working properly. Got rebooked and paid so not a total disaster!

Unfortunately if the cost of having a shop and staff means they have to put the instore price up, this actually reinforces my thoughts that PMT are probably trying to put their own stores out of business! To be fair, if you can charge the same for a guitar online with very few overheads, and the same in store with staff, business rates, rent, energy bills, insurances etc... you'd want the shop gone! Those looking at instruments of a certain quality/price will of course do the research and probably go in knowing the price range of it, but as others have said, if a bass is labelled at 25% more than it should be, this is usually beyond the realms of haggling and we would all potentially just turn and walk away thus killing the store. Those who do not know, parents of beginners etc. are likely to be overcharged in store!

I did wonder this but no, the label definitely said BB734! They also have a Taylor 214ce acoustic for £1349 in store... £936 online! Taylor 324ce, £2249 in store and £1969 online! Sadly I think they are just trying to get more money in store and preying on people who don't do their research!

I was in PMT the other day and they had a Yamaha BB734 on the wall priced at £1256... on their website the same bass is £889.00... I completely understand that stores have over heads etc, but why do retailers seem determined to destroy their trade in shops by making their products 30% more expensive in store! I guess from a purely business point of view, getting rid of the shops would save them a fortune!

Rubber door stops! The little round ones with the screw in the centre that usually get fixed to the floor, fix one to the wall at the bottom of the basses body, stops it hitting the wall

Who's finally happy with their rig?
Tim2291 replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Mostly... I love my my GK 700RB head and the Vanderkley 210 I have is incredible... but I need to upgrade my rack tuner and downsize the rack case I have! I'm after a shallow 3U rather than the standard sized 6U that I have currently! -
It's up on Reverb now as well.. apparently customer made 😅😂 https://reverb.com/uk/item/75452628-winged-headless-guitar

I could always BBQ my Christmas Turkey with it!

I did see that! I may enquire about it

Should have kept your super "rare" guitar! 😆

So this one is a guitar so sorry about that one... and i guess you could say its rare... my dad imported this heap of turd from China in 2007 and stuck the stickers on himself 🤣😂. We have no idea how the seller has it as we threw it in a skip. Guess he isn't wrong saying it's rare though as it is one of a kind. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/756339146158450/

I have a 4 string version of this... not a bad bass tbh, bit odd to play once you're used to something with an actual body though!

Anyone else really interested to see what's beneath that metal plate? If you could get the Squier for like £15 then it would be useful for spare parts. As long as the wiring and pickups are in working condition that is... What ever the dude has taken though to first of all do these mods and secondly to think they are worth actual money, please keep it away from me as I don't want to be this delusional

Can you come round and fix this for me?
Tim2291 replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I'd love to know why a bass that's been sat in a hard case for "many years" needs a deep clean... a person with such passion surely wouldn't put it away dirty right? With all the unknown issues, £1000 is very steep... -
I have not confirmed it no, amp looks in great condition from the images i've seen, I suspect it is a house clearance (by family members). As you say, valves are easy to replace but if there is a further issue, there wouldn't be anything left to make by repairing and selling it! I think I will leave it

Bit of a random one... does anyone know how to date a Fender amp? Amp in question is a Pro Junior 3 which I believe was manufactured between 2010 and 2016, but the serial number starts with a B, which from research suggests 1991 or 2017 which I don't think can be right? It's up for sale for a really low price as the tubes need replacing and i'm debating whether its worth buying to sell on to fund more actual bass gear
-
Yep, no pedalboard at all. Straight into the amp, I use a rack tuner so everything is self contained. Makes set up so much easier!

Had a great gig on Saturday, small crowd but everyone enjoyed themselves which is the main thing! Got a break for the rest of August as multiple band members are on Holiday and didn't co-ordinate 😪
