Does any body know what the screw length is for the strap button on a 2003 USA Fender P Bass? I bought a second hand bass with strap locks fitted and the screw keeps comng loose. The only way I've solved the problem on previous basses is to take the original screw and file down the head so it will fit through the strap lock button. Unfortunately i haven't got the original screws Cheers Ian
Don't know tbh, just thinking more along the lines of the chorus.....plus it would only have to be an approximation before people join in...?!?
yeah just watched it on youtube....the bass is there. i could see it going down well! Cheers!
A version of "Vindaloo" would prob go down a storm We've purposly not arranged gigs on match days, too much risk of atmosphere going flat after the game, plus we can watch 'em all!!!!
Doesn't that have a bit of fuzz bass in it?
Series / parallel switch for P bass, wired with tonepot. The volume pot has the S1 knob on it, but the tone pot doesn't have a knob (btw, it's solid shaft). You can find the wiring diagram for the switch here: switcheroo
I'll have it thanks! mine has just broke!

Just found out Englands first game of the world cup against the USA is on at 8.30pm on Sat 12th June....which clashes with our gig at a pub in Bolton. Gonna see if we can set up early, watch the game, then go straight on and obviously play a bit later. Have you any idea's for England / football songs which we could play? I've thought of - Three Lions - Lightining Seeds We are the Champions - Queen.... Then I've got a bit stuck. Perhaps some tunes which would fit in with a St Georges Day gig we've got as well... I'd prefer to keep the tunes 'PC' ish....! Ta , Ian

the original strings are still on - after a couple of gigs and plenty of home practice they still/now sound great...they seem to 'live in / last' better then rotosounds....

Hi Does any one know where I can get a length (approx 30 cm - the length of a ruler) of metal or black plastic bent at 90 degrees down the length to protect the edge of my cabinet? Its to go on an Ampeg 410HLF. When I slide the cab into the back of estate car, the top 'width' edge scrapes along the floor of the boot. Its took off the vinyl covering and now its started to take off the pieces of gaffa tape I've put on. It does already have the chrome corner protectors, but these are only thin, so the cab doesn't slide on these. I've had a look on Maplin and B&Q sites but can only find the corner protectors. Thanks! Ian

I've had Mexican Fenders before, and although I found absolutely nothing wrong with them you could get a brand new Squier Classic Vibe Jazz and save yourself £150....to spend on Christmas jumpers.....
As I mentioned in your Squier post, check out the MusicMan Bongo's for a 'higher end' bass made from Basswood. A lot of Ibanez Guitars also use it as body wood, including a lot of the Prestige range Si
sorry.....saw your reply to my original post after i'd started this post....soz!

....mmmm...so for a solid coloured guitar...what does it matter?.....will the finish start to split at the screws in 20+ years?

Is there a 'basswood' tree? or is it a fancy name for chipboard? the squiers are made out of this...which other guitars are?

a couple of 'out-takes' from the photo shoot.....
All the Squier Classic Vibes (including the James Johnston Jazz) are basswood bodies Si
what is basswood? is there a 'basswood' tree? or is it a fancy name for chipboard?

Does anybody know what type of wood they're made out of (for the body)?

Took some photo's of my new-ish Squier Classic Vibe Jazz.... Bought from the old Sound Control(now PMT) in Salford. They matched the lowest internet price I could find from GAK. PMT had it priced at £299, GAK was £249 - just take a print out from the web page. I've already used it for a couple of gigs - sounds and plays great...couldn't be happier with it. Lets start with some head - Very high gloss finish with an aged yellow tint. The 'Squier' logo is in gold sparkle. Crafted in china.....not made, but Crafted! I use a levy's 2" leather strap....very comfortable. Perfectly set up when I bought it...no buzzes or dead spots. Solid chuncky bridge - tons of sustain! I would heartly recommend one of these guitars!

Brilliantly made made guitars - the neck/body joints were more snug than the MIM fenders in Sound Control (PMT) in Salford on Sat. I've gigged the VM jazz and CV jazz with absolutely no problems. Ian

Thanks for the info guys!

Does anyone know which make of string uses the different coloured loops on the retaining loop? They are on my new CV jazz...they still sound quite good even after a gig and plenty of home noodling. Thanks Ian

Grahame
Thank you very much!...may I also say Grahame/Pantode is an excellect 'basschat-er' - promt payment and good communication! hope you enjoy your new toy! Ian
