Bought and sold stuff here for years, never had a bad exchange, everyone's polite and the couple of people I've met have been friendly and honest fellows to a man. Only problem I've encountered is the lack of interest in some of the dodgy kit I've advertised sometimes...!
-
It's top of my wishlist. Some of the other units mentioned look great though, I'm going to have to do a bit of comparison.
-
The Rupert Neve DI is a bloody marvel, a seriously great peice of kit, if you’re going to splash out, do yourself (and your engineer) a favour and try one.
-
Barefaced Big Twin T and Super Twin T, both with a hefty power amp and pre-amp, never had a problem in rehearsals, even with a very hard hitting drummer and guitarist playing some filthy rock. Big Twin is a great gig cab too, light and loud and very easy to hear onstage, it's easy to move around (designed to fit in the boot of a Honda Civic according to Alex...) but it's not cheap. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Done, good luck with the rest of the funds.

I hear that the super flightcase and the powered PB300 cab will keep up with most kits, that’s 12 drivers. Oddly that rig is in the Marketplace in red right now....
-
I'm currently running a Sansamp GED2112 into a Super Flightcase, and it's been excellent so far, the PJB is very articulate but has enough bottom to push the sound I need, even with a 5 string. It's probably not loud enough to compete with a full band without PA support, but I'm studio based for the most part and I don't need the volume. Sound wise I think it's a brilliant amp, whatever you put in the front end comes out sounding the way you'd expect.

Depends what you’re recording and what you’re recording with... Solo virtuoso acoustic guitar with a Neumann U47 through a Neve Shelford channel: 96Khz General MIDI drums and a guitar through a knockoff SM57 copy: 44.1Khz, or indeed a dictaphone....

I’d suggest something like this: https://www.thomann.de/gb/alesis_multimix_4usb.htm decent build quality and a usb that won’t be too latent, you’ll need a mini jack to 2x1/4” cable for your iPad.

Bought Uros' PJB BG300 Super Flightcase. Excellent chap to deal with, great communication and the unit came well protected and on time. Deal with confidence.

The line6 Pod XT kit has a USB socket that allows it to act as an interface in it’s own right, you just select it as the input device in the DAW and it passes the audio through digitally. I don’t know if Digitech does the same thing.

I think the multiple input approach works really well if you're unsure as to the tone you're going to need in the final mix, if you're certain it'll be the one you're using, print it and damn the torpedos.

Using plug-ins for tone is at the mercy of latency, as plug-ins add latency to the round trip from bass to monitors via the DAW. Thunderbolt interfaces help as do hardware accelerated systems like Universal Audios UAD2 systems. I use both approaches, a Sansamp pre or a Pod XT Pro into the DAW, with bass DI’d to a separate track with plug-ins, then you can use plug-ins during the mix as well to achieve the mix tone you’re looking for.

My old go to for studio tone before the Universal Audio system and the GED2112 turned up, it’s still a fine bass multi-Fx system. In good nick and been in a rack all the time I’ve used it. https://line6.com/legacy/basspodxtpro/ Comes with the FBV Shortboard Mk2 pedalboard. https://line6.com/legacy/fbvs Prefer pick up or meeting London Local, units are in West London, Heathrow Area. Will post if necessary at your expense. Reviewed the market, I’ve Overpriced this, dropped to £200.

Crown XLS 1500, class D power amp, the Drivecore version, light and bloody loud. I’ve been running it bridged into my BF BTT, 1550w into 4 ohms, never had a moments problem being heard, it’s lived racked, and is in good nick. https://www.crownaudio.com/en/products/xls-1500 Prefer not to post, as it’s heavy even though it’s light for a power amp, but happy to meet London local, the amp is in West London, Heathrow area. Will post if required, at your expense.

Much as it pains me, I’m not going to use this beast again in anger, and it should go to someone who appreciates it’s monstrous beauty. This is the original BTT with the 6” midrange and variable tweeter, not the newer version with the compression horn, I’ve been running it with a Crown XLS1500, and it’s effectively a bass PA. Hugely loud and immensly capable, this is the best cab I’ve used and I’ll be sorry to see it go. Steel grill, intact handles, corners and wheels, it’s a lightweight marvel (I can one arm it, but you wouldn’t want to regularly...) Been gigged a few times and has been around the block recording, but it’s in great nick. I’m not shipping this, it’s too big, happy to meet London local, the cab is in West London, Heathrow area.
