1. I really like that Trace compressor, more for collectors than use (I use rack comp)...but at the moment I cannot. If only I had heaps of cash...so much good stuff round here all the time...
  2. LOL at the pose...and the band member who...looks like he doesn't know what's going on LOL!
  3.
4
Oh...
  4.
Dude, normally when i use this site, it's late at night, so its easy for me to misread and confuse me I apologise on behalf of my stupidness =P
Haha oh well...Was an interesting investigation. Maybe you wanted a "Latching" footswitch ...or the "Latching" on your synth is broken?
  5. I don't like these...Nicknamed "Camila Parker Fly" by me. Expensive for what you get and look very feeble...You could get a LOT more for your money...I think these are very designer but that's about it. My 2p of course.
  6.
I mention this one a lot.. but look for a distortion pedal that will allow you to mix in the dry bass tone as well, to keep the bottom end and 'power' intact. The MXR M80 is a good pedal for doing this.
+1 Never use just distortion, kills the low end. Most BOD or BD units allow the mixture of dry signal...as do select few amps.
  7.
use a synth ;p and you'd achieve it better by putting a boost infront of the guv'nor just something to drive it into epic saturation
Always thought it sounded like a slightly muffled Saw waveform. A "Saw" wave kinds sounds like someone drilling through a wall next door... That's how I explain it, and this song I unfortunatly know too well (it;s on the radio at work at least 10 times a day!!!) defo sounds like a muffled Saw wave. In which case you may want a Boss SYB, either the SYB-3 or SYB-5...and I have an SYB-5 for sale LOL! (Good god...PLUGGED!)
  8.
Hahaha, Very nice.. that explains latching..... but i still dont get it =P
No, were trying to work out why you asked? I didn't put "Latching" in my post you quoted LOL! That's not the only type of latching...
  9.
Pre gig muscle toning could help a lot. Maybe you have a another income job where you use your hands a different way from playing? I sometimes feel the need to tone the hands, lower arms and fingers pre gig, especially in winter and if I haven't been doing much practice. Generally massaging all these playing areas can be very beneficial pre gig.
May I also add to this and suggest investing in a "Gripmaster"? From Planet Waves, you put it in the palm of your hand and press the buttons down, each finger isolated, like you would frets. Comes with various exercises and warmups. I always take mine with me to a rehearsal or gig. I arrive 1 our early to rehearsal and start pressing...when I know about 1 hour to 30 mins that I'll be up next @ a gig...I'll be pressing! They have different resistances (Spring pressure) and it really helps get the blood to the muscles and joints before you even get hands on the fretboard, then you have warmed up fingers to warm up on your bass, which won't take as long. I find it more useful because it's so portable you never warm down before you want to...Even in rehearsal or standing on stage, beofre the first song hold it in either hand and press...constant warm up. Helped my fingers considerably and with join problems being hereditary in both sides of the family, due care is a must!
  10.
You say there 675 new,how much for this one
That's the model I have for that price, the newer one. But a good question nonetheless.
  11. I heard when I studied music from my tutor who was a drummer in a signed band and had an endorsment deal...He said that when the band folded they robbed his gear...So I dunno what clause he had in his contract but he was also my music business tutor and we looked over some example contracts...There is a clause in some where if they "Give" you gear to use and the band folds they take it back...In a pigs ear they will! But I guess if youres is 50% off the instrument is, technically, all yours.
  12.
Hmmm, I'm not so sure that being friends is enough, in fact ultimately it can hold a band back. One of my bands recently tried for a year to keep someone in a band because of friendship when in fact they were at a different level musically to the rest of the band.
Well it's a little different for me. For one, we are all the same. We like the same thing but all like different music...we meet at metal, our first and foremost but all have different tastes elsewhere. Also, technically minded...I can't be without my friend and guitarist as he's my polar opposite: same skill, different instrument. We don't allow ego to go too far...if it doesn't work, it's out...Gotta say noone has shoehorned in anything...Our last song we did took 3 weeks, 2 rehearsals a week and home visits to sort, so no shoehorning here. And some members to begin with went AWOL...that didn't last. Nope...here we are, 5 friends sick of being let down taking Leicester on...then wherever we feel next. It's a good feeling...accomplishing...and so I say, friends are good. Maybe you mean like 2 friends in a band and the rest not? Hmmm I guess that may be problematic cause each friends looks after the other...but a band made entirely of friends who have known each other for a long time...that works. I could wish for no other band.
  13.
Doubt it's 800W unless you've changed the drivers - looks like a 320W early 90s cab to me rather than the 2006+ spec you've copied from the Trace website Nice cabs tho, good luck EDIT: not wishing to ruin your sell, just sayin' the details aren't quite right. No offence intended
Ooer...I just read the specs, musta missed that out...they are the same specs as my Trace Elliot 1048H whichb is indeed, the new series.

Just the time mate...Even £1000 basses are taking time to shift.
  15. Pics! Sorry if they seem a little...oblong...the resize hasn't quite gone right but the quality is there.
  16. For sale is my Yamaha RBX270 I bought with the idea of modifying it heavily...I always loved the feel of my Yamaha RBX170 but I ran it into the ground. I installed a SD Basslines 1/4 Jpounderazz pickup...then did nothing else and have since moved on. (with my fully decked out P-bass!) It had been played a little bit...I used it for Stu Hamm and Victor Wooten songs. It's real easy to play, low action fans will be pleased as it's a "Low as you like" bass...though I never went UBER low so I cannot say how much fret buzz there be...But would you want any lower? Anyways...specs: Natural Yellow Satin finish (Just natural wood looking...not yellow at all) 4-string 34" scale 24 frets P / J pickup config P-pickup stock, J-pickup SD BassLines 1/4 pounder pickup 1 volume, 1 blend, 1 tone Passive Bass "Barrel" type jack Adding pics in about 1 hour. (HD photo's about 5MB need trimming back BIG time!) BTW, bass comes with strings (said becuase photo's are without), a .105 - .45 Elites Stadium set. The only time I changed since buying it (and I change regularly). Bass is as new...never rehearsed with, never gigged. Bought it for £170 + £60 for the pickup. Bass comes WITH the pickup. Looking at around £120. Great bass for beginner / intermediate or anyone wishing to play such a bass. Thanks for looking.
  17. Welcome to the forum, and to the mighty world of bass playing. Not to jump on a chance but I have a great bass for a starter for sale...well it will be up soon.
  18.
Hi mate & thanks for the offers. I’m not really keen on the Yamaha & I can just about knock a tune up on 4 strings so the 5 string is out unless it comes with a magic wand & some ear plugs for me wife! Cheers Anth.
No problemo, worth a shot.
  19.
Well what ya got ???
Of what I need to shift I've got a Yamaha RBX270 with pickup mod (SD BassLines 1/4 pounder Jazz) 4-string, 24 frets, natural finish...and a Traben Array 5-string LTD edition I bought for £420 and never played more than 4 hours. I don't know what you play though so I can't think of a good match. Worth a shot.
  20. Hardcore / Metalcore guitarists CRAVE these amps!
  21.
MB1. Many Thanks Mike!
swift on the Trace takes ain't we? Can't blame you.
  22.
Never turned it anywhere near full for fear of blowing my very powerful SWR 6x10 cab - it is certainly very loud! The 1350 watts is bridged mono @ 4 ohms You can download the users guide from the Ampeg site if you want the technical details
WOW! Yeah LOL my 4x10" cab is rated @ 800 watts handling so I couldn;t either...but that's a good thing, if you can get away with 1/2 or less, headroom is plentiful. The price, although I cannot afford right now is very fair...And I could want for nothing with headroom. I'll have to consider this, providing it doesn't sell before hand. EDIT: Read the stats and it's tasty! So you can blend the distortion and clean tone together in a ratio kind of mix? That'll do nice for an experement. OK, I'm personally sold...But it'll take a few weeks yet so good luck with the sale...If it's not gone consider me there!
  23.
Also got Schaller 3D bridge in as new condition if anyone's interested. I thank you.
String?
