Hey guys, I bought this off Basschats own Shockwave a few weeks back and as brilliant as the bass is, i just cant get my head to fall into using a 5 string again. So i'm looking to sell this for what i paid. I've asked Shockwave if he'd mind me using the pictures he took. This is the blurb that he wrote:- "Features the more favored 4/1 headstock, Montego Black/Gold Scratchplate combination with a lovely Maple neck. 34" Scale This bass has had the some what anemic original active electronics taken out and replaced with a John East J-retro Deluxe which gives you ultimate control over your bass. Features Active/passive switch, Bass, Treble, Extra bright push pull switch, Mid volume and Mid contour control, as well as a passive tone control! Maximum knobbage! [url="http://east-uk.com/jretrodeluxe01.pdf"]http://east-uk.com/jretrodeluxe01.pdf[/url] Complementing the pre-amp is a set of Seymour Duncan Quarterpounders, lovely hot pickups with loads of grind that can be toned down to a nice full funk sound. All electronics have been FULLY shielded with copper tape. There is little to no background noise when the bass is plugged in. The bass has a lovely Low action which is happy to be adjusted. The Truss rod is working well 100%. There are playing marks on the body which are quite hard to show up under lights. You would have to look at it in the right light to see!" I would be looking for what I paid for this bass - £900. I'm based in Aberdeen. Not sure what i'd be looking for in a trade. That was a shock! Removing a battery kills the pre (natch) so tried with passive mode on - seems much cleaner - assume it was the batteries then... Still not getting around this bass though! Just tried quickly blasting one of my bands songs with it and its just strange just now. Hmm.

I could get my head and hands around those no bother - but i used to have issues with 4 strings, then i started playing around with them more and started being a convert. It's just really frustrating because the jazz is a gorgeous bass and has such a nice feel to it - theres just something that causing me issues. Frustrating.

Hey guys - Hope someone will be able to assist me. I recently bought Shockwaves Fender Jazz 5 string but i'm not sure i'm really getting back into the 5 string, still find myself drawn to 4 strings but i'm not sure if I should stick it out and keep trying or sell up and look at others. Theres a Shuker that i'm eyeing up on his page, which jon is willing to add a passive switch onto, but its abit more pricey. I also just cant seem to get the hang of the J-East Deluxe. What do people think? Dave

Was in stitches at Bruce getting distacted mid song by the girl flashing ("Did you just flash your T!ts? You did didnt you? They were very nice") The amount of faded band tshirts and denim was shocking! Oh and white dunlop trainers..

Hey guys - hoping someone can give me some advise here. Recently bought a jazz with a j-retro deluxe. Very nice feeling bass, but when i plug it in, it snarls at me. Even when its in passive mode i get an intense distortion out of it. I've tried playing around with it, but i'm struggling to tame this beast! If i could tame her, then i can try her with my pedals and incorporate the 5 string fun into my new stuff. So does anyone know how to dial a sound that isint going to eat my face?

How do these systems work with fx? Eg i have a deep impact, mastatron and mammoth and im not sure if these would behave with wireless. I used to have a samson one but found it was abit pointless at the time.
