Now that my mesa has been repaired (dodgy transistor in the EQ) i've since tried an Ampeg CL and i loved it. So my mesa is gonna need to go. Ive never gigged the head, just used it for practice. It sounds awesome (as i remembered when i played it earlier! Almost decided to keep it!) and has spent its life with me in the shockmount case, so its pretty much been in a tank! It has got some marks where one of the previous users marked their settings with a marker. Since i have an ABY box too that im not using so i'll throw that in too. I'll try and pictures up tomorrow. Ideally, prefer local collection or i'll pack it well buyer wants to pay for shipping. Looking for about £900 now Hit me up! Dave EDIT: NOW down to £750

Thanks for all the help guys. I stuck her into the local shop and the techs checked her over. Turns out it was a dodgy transistor apparently that was causing the problems. The dude is testing it today so I'll hopefully get it back tomorrow.
I would say so. Give www.watfordvalves.com/ a ring and talk to the bloke there, he has a great wealth of knowledge and can supply you some great new valves if needs be. Cheers, Jon edit:grammar!
I gave the dude a call - He said it might be the valves. Wasn't able to confirm either way if replacing the valves would fix it - he did say that the lower output did sound like the valves had died on one row.
Find a techie and have the valves tested ona proper valve tester. Quite often a valve will still work (ish) even when its gone right out of spec. Sometimes they go microphonic but work within specs and sometimes they go broke and microphonic. Also have any new valves tested before you use them, I lost a couple of hours looking for a fault in an amp and it turned out to be a brand new valve that was shorted. Buzzing similar to earth hum does sound like a duff valve, possibly one of the pre amp, drivers or buffers. Good luck cheers Just
Looks like this is the way forward. Might see if i can book it in one of the local shops as soon as possible for them to check it. Just a shame that it'll cost silly money to do it! Though at least Watford Valves sell the right valve needed!

Okay - tested each power valve as advised and one is sorta tinkling when i shake it. Does this mean i just need to replace the single valve? Would that explain the lower volume and buzzing? Davie

Right I'm going to try the above tonight. If I find that a valve or two has gone, do I just need to replace those? I am actually really hoping this is what's causing it. Is there any visable way of checking the valves? or is it just a case of seeing if they make rattling noises when tapped? Cheers guys for all the help Dave

I'm selling my Boss Slicer pedal. It's really fun to use, makes some odd noises and is handy for dance music. Here is what boss say: Inject a shot of high-octane fuel into your music with the SL-20 Slicer. Instantly transform a guitar, bass, keyboard, or vocal into a pulsating groove instrument. Choose from 50 onboard Slice patterns or experiment with the SL-20’s innovative Harmonic Slicer feature, which generates percussive melodies, Loop Record, and unique 3D Panning. Instant groove and percussive-melody generator 50 Slice patterns onboard, with adjustable attack and duration, including Harmonic Slice Tap Tempo via onboard pedal switch; internal and MIDI sync Sound characteristics such as attack, duration, effect level, and direct level are controllable via external Expression pedal (sold separately) Variety of output modes, including the unique 3D Panning for spacious sliced FX I'm getting rid because I used it for one song, for one part. And it's taking up space on my board. Check this video for some of the insanity it can produce. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuIyTnvZ4Ac (thingamabob thingy not included!) I don't think i have the box anymore so i'm looking for £110 delivered. - NOW SOLD
