Hey guys. looking for a smidgen of advise 😊 I’m going to be recording our latest EP soon, my basses are normally setup for CGCF. The newer songs are A# and G#. Live I’m using the drop feature on my QC to hit these notes. Which works fine. But for recording, I want the bass in the right tuning. So I’m considering using one of my status 4 strings for the A# tuning and the 5 string Status Stealth for the G#. Unless anyone has a status 5 string that I could borrow and tune to the A# ha. What sort of string gauge would potentially be alright? Both basses are 34 inch scale. The stealth has .130s I think and can hit the G# but not sure if a 135+ may give a better feeling. I’m considering using the headless S2 4, and the stealth is also headless. So maybe double ball preferred.

Every single time I read this name, my brain reads it as “squier mustang Milky Way”

Good luck! Years back I could name every promoter in my city, and get a gig whenever I wanted! But now, it’s so hard! Every venue bar one just ghosts us it seems. I don‘t think we’re that bad (and the people who come to the one venue seem to enjoy!). We’ve done videos, audio, etc. we’re debating putting a gig on ourselves somewhere just to play a diff place!

We played Krakatoa again (swear it’s the only venue that we can get now!) in Aberdeen last night. we were supporting a band called kuro from Glasgow. Decent night! Used my QC into the house markbass and 8x10 cab with my Status S2. Great tone! We got great feedback from folks and had great fun on stage. Minus my vocalist stepped back onto me and went through the ceiling. Thought his life was flashing before his eyes.

I took the blue CW to its first band practice last night with the S2, trying to figure out what bass to use tomorrow night (cough streamed online too cough). Fully intending to use it live… but the S2 properly entertains me. Great balance and tone… and less likely to slam my singer in the chops!

The Status Chris Wolstenholme is a fantastic bass. Good pickup position, great tone and pretty light. It’s also quite nice to look at!

STATUS OWNERS: double ball end strings...

Another vote for the hot wires from Status. Recommended! Which reminds me, I need to put new strings on one of mine! -
Cheers man! Just found out it’s a 45 min set. You might read “local bassist passes out and dies on stage” in the P&J 😂😂😂😂

My band are supporting a band named Kuro from Glasgow! Krakatoa and we are on 3rd. if anyone is kicking around it would be awesome to say hello!

Interesting read this. We moved to ampless last year, drums still acoustic but we have a click track in our ears anyway. It was great, but we kept feeling something missing on stage. We played a venue in December and I was forced to use an amp - so we turned bass down in the ears and that thump was from the amp. It worked well, could hear everything but still had the low end feeling. I just need to be careful with volume! 😂

I was just thinking that I should consider insuring my gear. It’s covered under household but think I’d like dedicated insurance. 200 odd quid for the year. Maybe worth it.

Another Status arrived recently so another family photo required!

Hi folks, I’m considering taking two basses to gigs - just in case anything happens to one whilst performing. I use hard cases normally but the venues we play, are quite small. So multiple hard cases are probs a bad plan. I have a fusion dual gig bag but it’s a bit bulky I feel. Are there any recommendations for a less chonk option? I know mono have their dual case which looks alright, and I’ve seen the gator pg one. Are there any others to consider? Only goes from car to venue. Ideally enough space for a cable, pedal sized wireless and two Hercules small stands.

I played a gig this Friday past. IT WAS AMAZING. I’ve never sounded better, I could hear everything. Crowd was loving it. Actually had someone come up and say my bass tone was the best he’d ever heard 😂😂😂, the band after were dumbfounded that we were on before them and apparently crapping it following us. Even had someone ask for my setlist… like, we’re a crap band from Aberdeen! But sure - go wild! My singer posted on his channel (we need to do more with our YT):

This arrived today! Status Stealth 5 string with side LEDs. 😊

I’ve a Status Chris Wolstenholme 4 in woven chrome/burst. With red LEDs. and a 1988 S2 headless 5 string. Amazing basses. I’m after another 5 string with wider spacing when their books open again. 😊

Hey folks, I had a bass built a few years back. Whilst it was in getting a setup, I asked the shop to change the batteries on the LEDs (so I wouldn’t need to worry for several years again!) however, when it came back it seems that every other LED is not working, or cutting out and flickering. I’m imagining a cable has shorted somewhere. Does anyone have a rough idea on how much it may cost to remove the fingerboard and sort this out? IMG_3972.MOV

Played our first gig at a venue in Aberdeen. It was supposed to have been professionally recorded but they didn’t start the feed so it’s a crowd recording - with the live audio from the desk. This was our last song Suffocate. I was dead at this point 😂

Oddest thing though - he had me go into a DI which had a parallel out to onstage amp that was mic’d. Kept saying it would sound terrible with just my QC. I don’t think he understood that my amps and cabs were coming from the QC. I’m going to create emergency patches with no amps as a just in case measure, I’m also going to sum the two channels to one. Single cable might not scare the crap outta him!
