Too little time left for playing, it's time to downsize my collection, hence FOR SALE ONLY, no trades, please. GB GOODFELLOW Standard / Spitfire 4-string bass Prototype N. 001 signed by Bernie J Goodfellow (B.J.G.) in the neck pocket on 25th Nov. 1995. All the pics at http://s849.photobuc...Prototype%20001 This is a collector's item, the very first of a whole generation of basses, evolving initially into the "Standard" and then into the current "Spitfire" line, used - among others - by Mark King of Level 42 in his earlier years (before moving to Status basses) and jazz player Laurence Cottle, so definitely a piece of British bass-making history. You can see Mark and his Spitfire at http://www.gbguitars...f/flvs/king.flv (slap) and, for instance, Laurence at (fingerstyle) Quilted maple on ash (full size body), beautiful birdseye maple neck and fingerboard, vol/vol/active only 2-eq cut and boost, 21 frets with zero wear, EMG 40 soapbar pickups, Schaller tuners with D-tuner, Badass II bridge (I suspect the original bridge was different, a Schaller maybe, but the Badass is the one I have ever seen). Coming from a smoke/pet/child-free environment (but not booze-free... LOL). The bass is almost twenty years old and shows some cosmetic blemishes in the finish, typical of use and age (some dings/knocks on the front of the body, on the back and on the headstock; a small chip in the finish beyond the nut, below, at the beginning of the headstock; light cracks in the finish on the edge and back of the body, and at the neck pocket; pots a bit scratchy sometimes), but of course nothing affecting playability. The neck is glossy and the fingerboard is matte, a nice touch. Stunning and in "as new" condition: 4-string American Fender Jazz Deluxe FMT - Flamed Maple Top - made in 2005 at Fender's Corona plant, California, USA. The FMT and the QMT (Quilted Maple Top) versions of the American Deluxe Jazz bass were limited production runs from 2001 to 2007 and the 4-string version with maple fingerboard is extremely hard to find nowadays. Bought a few months ago here on BC from Eubassix, here is his old ad: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2392126 This amber / caramel colour piece is a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y spectacular: NOT a single ding / knock anywhere (not even the usual one on the tip of the headstock!), and NOT a swirl of buckle rash either!! Includes the key and case candy, like the original Fender trussrod tool, hangtags, instructions... The whole bass+case complete package is just in oustanding, perfect condition. Here are the specs: Premium alder body with maple top, graphite reinforced maple neck with perloid inlays and binding, 22 frets, 34inch scale, 1.5inch nut (like any traditional Jazz bass), volume / balance / 18V active cut and boost 3-eq (stack treble/bass, separate mids) with central detent, Fender SCN dual-coil noiseless pickups in '60s position, gold plated hardware (lite-bass tuners, adjustable string spacing top-loading or through-body bridge, potentiometers) and headstock logo. Price REDUCED to a FINAL £949 + £40 shipping (tracked and insured, mainland UK, some postcodes maybe excluded). NOW WITHDRAWN WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. 18 DEC 2014 I am virtually not playing anymore, so I am thinning the herd and downsizing my collection. Hence, NO TRADES / PX, please. This is your opportunity to own a prestigious instrument at a realistic price (it would cost almost three and a half grand to get a new one shipped to your door from New York!!). Beautiful Sadowsky NYC 4-string bass in excellent overall condition, born Feb 1997. Alder body in trans Olympic White (now showing a creamy tone), morado fingerboard (aka pau ferro / bolivian rosewood). The tone is a little warmer than the bright ash / maple combination. Weight is only 3.7-3.8 kg. Adjustable string spacing Schaller bridge (very useful, standard on Sadowsky basses at that time), frets dressed, Hipshot D-tuner, tort half pickguard (a transparent identical replacement could be available from Roger Sadowsky). Neck pickup chrome cover included. Overall in excellent condition for a bass of this age and hours of trustworthy service! Additional pictures (included the two small dings and the back of the neck) at http://s849.photobuc...Olympic%20White Coming from a smoke / pet / child-free environment (but not booze-free... A new Sadowky NYC starts at around 4,000 USD (plus scratchplate and D-tuner, price list at www.sadowsky.com), plus insured shipping, plus UK VAT and import duty (around 24% of the total), bringing the total cost to around £3,500. This is the most attractive price you have ever seen for a NYC, and availability is in general very low for a second hand one, so do your maths. Price is REDUCED TO [s]£1799[/s] A FINAL £1650 + £40 shipping. No Paypal, sorry, bank transfer only. The cost of shipping (tracked and insured) is for UK mainland only and may exclude certain postcodes (the real cost is actually higher due to the insurance, but I will pay the difference in order to remain competitive). Fclef Custom 4, New series Made in Usa. Custom color.
Apothem replied to bassplayerpt's topic in Basses For Sale
I've got a Series I, the one with blocks and binding on the neck, Seymour Duncan vintage single coils in '70s position, Mike Pope 2-eq with VTC. Absolutely terrific bass: a beautiful Fender Jazz clone when in passive, and a hint of hi-fi when active. Super straight neck and strings almost sitting on the frets, veeeeery low action. Boutique bass, highly rated in the USA where is more popular than in Europe. -
SOLD 1989 Musicman Stingray (mutes, birdseye, mojo) Still available £750
Apothem replied to Raslee's topic in Basses For Sale
Having had all sorts of 'Rays from every decade, from pre-EB to current production and Classics, I thoroughly agree with Beedster here. In fact I have kept two, both from 1989. This is the year the new screw-through saddles on the bridge were introduced, so if you are looking for low action, you're in for a treat -
I have bought a Fender Jazz FMT from David. The bass was very clean as promised, and has been shipped promptly. He has always replied quickly to messages and communication has been clear. A very pleasant transaction and would do business again without a doubt. Thanks!!
Don't think so. I think it's an Atelier Z DAL model http://www.atelierz..../dal/index.html
I was thinking exactly the same
My 1990 SR4 with a new Status neck . . . zingtastic!
Wow Chris!! Don't see many of these around.... Claudio
It's a bit difficult to tell from the pics - what is the finish on the neck? Is it like the early glossy finish or the later satin and wax finish? And do you have the original E tuner? CB
I believe the glossy finish on the fretboard ended in 1989. My '89 is glossy, while a '90 I used to have already had a satin/wax board. The back of the neck remained glossy though, at least for another couple of years.
