1. NEVER seen a Sadowsky Metro below a grand..... Unbelievebale price, especially after the last price hike
2.
Sorry but I laughed at this, good luck with the sale buddy.
Unfortunately a sale I was banking on collapsed... I suppose that's life sometimes... Anyway, best RRP I have found for a similar bass (maple, matching headstock, upgraded pickguard) is £1,324 plus delivery from Basscentre, so at £950 shipped you save more than 400 maccaronis for a bass that has been received, setup then left in its case for a month untouched. Remember: the warranty/registration card comes with it, I did not fill it as after that lost sale I have considered immediately putting this back in the market. So I wanted to keep in AS NEW conditions.
3. By all means a new bass, but for a few hundred £££ off...
4.
that should be USA
I believe this is a Japanese UV70 Metro instead (do not get me wrong, they are also very good indeed). First of all, USA instruments have a slightly different logo on the headstock, that says "Sadowsky Guitars - NYC", and second because Roger says that blocks and binding are not available even as an option on NYC instruments (I've asked him personally and it's also on the website). Moreover, the asking price for a similar NYC would be higher. Nonetheless a great bass
5. Splendid!! As a curiosity, who did the pups mod?
6.
Have a bump for a chq whats one of them................... 75% of the potential buyers gone
Yes Eddy, there's a reason for that, let me explain. In 2008/2009 I have offered fellow BCers a couple of basses (LEJ, Moon JJ, GB) which, unsold here, ended up on eBay, where they sold. All the payments were received via Paypal. Those gits came back kicking up such a malarkey, accusing me of "running a business" (WHAT??) and having "a certain volume/value of traffic" (WHAAAAAT???), therefore "having to switch account", "declare VAT" and all that c*ap.. What the fudge??? I have had quite a tough time in convincing them that it was all untrue, and that I was just a private individual happy to try a new bass and then eventually pass it on. This is why I would like to leave my Paypal account alone for a little while. On top of that, I have paid twice here with a cheque without any problem, I suppose is a matter of trust between members (although "I know where you live, and if you cash the cheque and do not send the bass I am coming to break your legs..." still applies LOL ). I admit I hadn't written a cheque for aaaaaaages, but it's a viable option. Alternatively, I'll accept a bank transfer. If REALLY at the end of the day the buyer is Paypal-dependent, well, not what I would have preferred but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick... At least, in order to avoid fees, please use a Paypal E-CHEQUE (which is a bank transfer anyway, with the downside that it clears even more slowly: 9 days, I have been there...). So I am going to amend my OP to reflect all this. Claudio
7.
What a beauty, Good luck with the sale... I can certainly vouch for this young man! Good Seller and buyer. Free Bump
Thanks Steve Cheers
8. Up FOR SALE (no trades, thanks) is my black 4H 3-eq STINGRAY, maple board, matching headstock, gold abalone pickguard and original MusicMan hardshell case. It's a 2009 which I bought BRAND NEW in MARCH 2010, so it's ONE MONTH OLD. I have received it, changed the strings to D'Addario (as I am not a big fan of Slinkies), lowered the action a tad (the trussrod works perfectly) and played it one hour in the bedroom. That's it. Then something else came.... Bass and case are just perfect. The protective film is still on the pickguard, and the stickers are still on the back. It comes with the CASE KEY, all the candy/polishes (except for the cloth, which I have misplaced) and the ALL IMPORTANT WARRANTY/REGISTRATION CARD FOR YOU TO FILL AND POST. Price is now £950 shipped (within UK mainland), which saves you a few hundreds. I will only post to the UK, and would like an old fashion cheque for that: that's how I paid for other basses here on BC (ask Johnnylightyear and Bassatnight), so can you. If you do not remember how to write a cheque (LOL), a bank transfer will do. Only as a last resort (pls see post N. 5 below) I am willing to accept a Paypal E_CHEQUE. In any case, once the funds clear, the bass will be on her way. Thanks folks Claudio
9.
Thanks ! Assume each bass has the same/similar neck (not one between the two ?!) - and agree that they are (or were) really something. I've not seen any recent EB's with this quality of neck/f-board ... maybe they are offered as an upgrade now, or fitted only to special or limited-edition models?
LOL Sure they have a neck each!!! ROFL "The same" as yours. Anyway, you're right, you do not see them anymore...
10. Beautiful!!! I have a ' 89 'Ray and a '94 Sterling with the same neck and they never cease to amaze me!! Really nice indeed mate. Good luck with the sale
11. I had the same one here in red, they're lovely. Good luck with the sale
12. Ab fab bass (andthe Moon JJ as well...) Good luck with your sale
13. I've got the "brother" of the one advertised here: 1989, similar serial N., trans red ash, bridge with mutes, beautiful birdseye maple neck and board, cracking bass. I believe this price is in line with the quality of the instrument, I have seen them going for similar amounts before. Good luck with the sale
14.
I usually use Parcelforce 48, you can add insurance as required, it is trackable, too. Never had a problem. Just pop into the local post office and do it from there - saves hanging around all day waiting for someone to collect it, too.
You have been lucky that nothing ever happened with Parcelforce, as they only insure musical instruments up to £150. At the Post Office they're quite happy to accept your £40 insurance extra payment for a £1000 bass (on top of the basic carriage cost), but do not tell you about the limit (I believe it is "hidden" in the FAQ section on their website): if something goes wrong, all you get is £150, plus - maybe - the original extra £40 insurance money. You could start a long battle, insisting that the P.O. employee should have not taken your extra insurance payment in the first place, but at the end of the day you implicitly accept all their Terms and Conditions once you pay for the basic carriage costs. I have used them too without problems, but only before discovering all this.
15. Now SOLD
16. Cheers Johnny BTW, 15th Dec is the very last day I can ship this beauty in time for Christmas, then I will not be available anymore for another pre-Christmas shipment. Claudio
17. WOW!! Gee... I am selling the blue NYC 4 but this is also really nice... Tried one at Roger's in NY one year ago , lovely!! And I am not even a 5-stringer!! Cheers
18. Thanks guys for your kind comments. Cheers Claudio
19. Here for sale is my 1995 Sadowsky NYC 4 jazz. I have bought it from fellow BCer JohnnyLightYear and I know some other BCers have had the pleasure before (Barrie/Molan and other previous owners, if you want to chime in pls feel free). Absolutely stunning in cobalt blue: ash body, quilted maple top, maple board, humcancelling Sadowsky pups and the legendary Sadowsky VERY effective 2-band preamp (a little goes a long way...). No VTC installed, it's still all original, included the Sadowsky D-tuner. Older style Schaller bridge allows for a little string spacing adjustment. Weight is 3.9kg on a digital bathroom scale. Comes in a plastic moulded hardcase, also with blue interior. Excellent conditions throughout: perfect straight satin finished neck with virtually zero fretwear which allows for very low action, a few superficial swirls and dings (mostly the size of a nail's head, just tiny dents in the lacquer's surface). One small knock on the lower edge on the body, near the pots, and a scuff on the tip of the headstock. None of the above is normally visible if not under a very close inspection. No belt rash on the back. I have just noticed for the first time that the ring of the active/passive miniswitch is missing. Overall only very minor cosmetic blemishes (and the bass is nearly 15!!!) Here are the pics (a few are from the previous owners, I hope they do not mind, sorry, I am not exactly Helmut Newton...) Price is £1,600 plus shipping. If you have a courier of your choice I'll be happy to consider it (I live in Ayrshire, south of Glasgow, KA17), provided they collect, otherwise I'll use Parcelforce. I would strongly recommend insurance, although it's not going to be cheap. I'll take a good old fashioned cheque for this, no Paypal: that's the way I paid for it, so you can do it too, I am sure Johnny can vouch for my genuinity (if I don't send you the bass you can always come over, beat me up and break my legs... LOL). I am afraid that if there is no solid interest it will be on the Bay very soon indeed, so dig deep into your pockets while it's (only) here, rob your nan, or sell your sister to the slave trade... just get the dosh together !!! Sorry, but I will not consider any trades: I will remain with a '89 "transition" 'Ray and a '95 Sterling for the moment, but I have something else in mind. Thanks for your interest Claudio
20. Going to Milan next week, where the bass is. Price for BCers is still £1199 shipped!!! I must have lost my marbles.... A boutique Jazz bass that would cost you over two grand (order + import/transportation from the USA)!!!! And it is new!!! Because I have played it three times in the bedroom in its 1 year's life!!! So if anybody wants it I'll take it back with me and ship from here, to save time and hassle. Claudio
21. You can listen to various clips at http://www.lowendbasses.com/ click LowEnd J-basses, then Gallery. Quality of audio samples is much better than the videos' (studio v live).
