Still available, folks... Nobody there to ship at the mo, but I am going for a few days at the beginning of September, so I am willing to take her back at my expenses and ship from here, if sold before leaving. Unless you fancy a September trip to Milan yourself, for some great local food/drink/weather/beauties..... and pick her up personally... Just a few quid flying with "Ruin-air"... LOL!! -

Here are some newer piccies Here is the deal: if you have read the opening post, you know the bass is in Milan, Italy. I am going there on Mon 20 July for a week, and the special price for the occasion is £1199 SHIPPED!!! I am losing my marbles.... It may be shipped directly from there or from here once I have come back with her, it depends on the costs: shipping from there is more expensive but Ryanair (aka Ruinair...) charges me for the privilege of taking her back with me, so I'll see... but it's still 1199 to you. Even timewise it should be more or less the same once you consider that I would need to be back first, in order to ship from here. All I ask is to be paid with a good old fashioned cheque in the (recorded) post like I did with Johnnylightyear for his Sad, in order to avoid Paypal charges. At the mo this offer is exclusive to BCers as the bass is not advertised anywhere else, but I cannot guarantee it will stay like this for long and the price will NOT be lowered any further. Guys, this is a 2800USD + VAT/duty + shipping from the US boutique bass, for 1200 quid!! Listen to some audio clips of LEJ basses in the url given in the opening post... and give in to GAS!!!! LOL!! Cheers Claudio -
Cool bass. What are the controls? Also the saddles look a bit rusty, do they still adjust OK?
Controls are vol/tone (the two yellow knobs), bass/treble (the two black ones), active/passive chrome switch and pu selector (the white switch). All knobs/controls are original, and so is everything else apart from the tuners. Here is a pic of the bridge I forgot before: You can see the screws are not rusty, but I believe the saddles are brass and need some polishing to take the tarnish off. I tried to turn the screws one or two years ago just to check and had no problems.

I am the original owner from new, bought it in Autumn 1981, and she's never changed hands. The guy from the shop said Ibanez cases were not delivered, but he had a Fender black tolex case with red interior "that's been laying around for a while", also brand new, so I took it. Made in Japan and built like a tank, beautiful wood grain, P-J configuration, 2-band EQ, active/passive switch. Controls are vol, tone, treble, bass, PU selector. I always managed to obtain a good quality sound, in studio and live. A couple of knocks and dings here and there on the body and one on the tip of the headstock (well, wouldn't you expect it from a 28-year old axe??), although the neck is perfect. 24-fret 3-piece neck with 5-piece headstock. Frets in very good conditions, virtually no wear at all. Completely stock apart from the flimsy butterfly-shaped tuners, immediately replaced with Glover. Comes with original thumbrest (never fitted) and trussrod key. She may need a bit of a setup as she hasn't been played for aaaaaaaages (regular use in gigs/rehearsals for 10 years, then virtually untouched for the last 18). The case is also in good nick, a couple of small dents in the tolex but all feet/latches/hinges/handle work perfectly, although a bit tarnished. The external plastic Fender logo in the corner is still remarkably intact. An attractive price for fellow BCers, for both together as a bundle, now at £349 plus £25 UK shipping (a few geographical exceptions, with Parcelforce 48; insurance optional). Sorry, not looking for trades or offers. I'll take Paypal but can only ship from Monday 15th June. If no interest here, eBayment will follow soon. The bass is not available without the case, unless you are willing to come to pick it up near Glasgow: price for the bass alone would be £299. The case would be then sold separately at a price considerably higher than £50 once the need for protecting/shipping the bass has gone. So my advice is: get both, then sell the case (if not needed) to vintage Fender owners for £99 ... I am afraid I cannot take further pics as she's now already packed ready for shipment. Thanks for looking Claudio
I'm also starting to get GAS for Sadowsky that I can't act on financially lol! This is a particularly nice one! Is there much difference between this 90's one and the one's they're putting out now, apart from the VTC. I'm assuming not much!? Si
AFAIK Roger uses slightly different electronics (I believe made by Aguilar instead of Bartolini, although I think the design/specs are proprietory), different hardware (from narrower Schaller bridge to his own Gotoh clone with 20mm spacing on a 4 stringer) and, in my experience, the older necks tend to be slimmer. The changes may sound subtle to some and huge to others, it depends.
i always thought that the 30-90 strings on my jaydee were bendy and so easy to work around without losing the low end punch, and there rotosounds or elites x
Sorry, but I find the sound from 30-90 is a bit too thin, and some TI gauges may also be too thin. Now I have a feeling for trying out some DR and Hot Wires. Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated.
May I ask why you want really loose strings? Just asking because I'm thinking of going in the opposite direction, getting tighter ones so that I can dig in with a reasonably low action and get less fret buzz.
Because I have a light touch, I do not dig in, so I can keep a low action anyway. Moreover, I think they are better for slapping, but I do not want to go below the 40 threshold.
+1 for the T.I. flats, very soft feel & low tension. The best strings I've used (and I've tried loads!) Have all my basses strung with T.I. flats & won't use anything else now. Cheers R.
Bl**dy typical... I forgot to add: roundwound only LOL!! I am going to modify the original text Thanks anyway guys

Hi mates As the title says, I am looking for a brand of strings (4-string, 34" basses) with a loose, soft, bendy feel. Preferred gauge is 40-100 but even 45-105 or 40-95 will be considered. In a few words: lower tension compared to other brands, given the gauge. Must be in the UK, steel or nickel alike. Roundwound only. What are your experiences with the brands you have tried?? Thanks in advance to everybody Cheers
