Best of all you don't have to share basses!
I'm not sure what you mean , but I'll keep this simple for you...
Why thank you. You're too kind
It's easy to be a 'keyboard warrior' and say nasty things from the safety of an internet forum
Isn't it though?
but it's another thing to say those things directly in person.
Righto.
I think many people wouldn't say these things to Liam in real life.
What, things like telling him he's an obnoxious arsehole to his face you mean? Here's the thing (as has been explained at some length by other posters already, but I'll try to keep it simple for you): Liam Gallagher is, IMHO, one of the most singularly unpleasant, obnoxious, self-important arseholes ever to have stalked the face of the earth. If he had any sort of musical talent I still wouldn't like him but I'd let it pass. But he hasn't, and never has had. He's the living embodiment of standing on the shoulders of giants, and pissing on their heads while he's doing so.
Some quite nasty comments about Liam on here , I wonder if you people are brave enough to say these things to him in person...?
Oh dear! Is this one of those 'real men...' things?

What was the first major festival you ever went to?
Weeley, in 1971.
Do you by any chance remember seeing a group of guys with an enormous Irish Wolfhound? -
Congratulations guys. Wishing you all the best.

leftybassman392 replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Lincoln folk festival 1970 (the one nobody seems to remember ), followed by Weeley in 1971. -
Where did it all go wrong? In Manchester, on the day he fancied being a rock star. That's where. As with many occupations, being an obnoxious arsehole is something you can only get away with if you have sufficient talent to make you worth tolerating.

Well I'm just turned 64 so let's have a look... I'm certainly older, so that's a yes. I still have all my hair though, so I guess that's a n/a We don't do valentines any more, so that'll be a no We do like a nice bottle of wine from time to time so that's another yes Can't remember the last time I stayed out anywhere close to quarter to three so that's another n/a She struggles with the TV remote so yes she still needs me As for food, well actually I do the majority of the cooking, so that's probably another n/a She's certainly no longer the slender slip of a thing she once was We're into our 40th year of marriage so that's a big yes too. Can't remember the last time I needed to change a fuse She doesn't knit, but we do like to go for a drive in the old jalopy of a weekend - off to the Cotswolds tomorrow as it happens. I hate gardening with a passion As for asking for more, I'm pretty good right now but thanks for the thought. Never been to the Isle of Wight, and don't have any children, so any grandchildren on our knees would need to be somebody else's Postcards? Seriously? Needing and feeding has been covered already. All things considered, could be worse...

Not to be another Mr. Party Pooper, but you're knowingly getting into more debt than you need to in order to show how good you are at paying it back... is that correct? Genuine question. (The whammy bar is a given on the assumption that you need it for something you're planning to do.)
I eschew Macca.
What the hell has this thread got to do with motor racing?
-
Oh dear. Not this one again so soon after the last, er, discussion.
It's a Barbie Fairytale Castle - can't you tell?
er... ok. If you say so...

Actually it was my birthday yesterday so happy birthday to us both.

Is this still classified as bass playing?
leftybassman392 replied to PawelG's topic in General Discussion
Of course it's bass playing. How else would you describe it? For what little it may be worth I rather like it. While I'm here, I can't quite believe the amount of pigeonholing that's going on here. The reason it doesn't have a groove (although it most certainly has a beat) is that it's not meant to have one. It's a solo performance, and as such the player is under no obligation whatsoever to adhere to the rules of ensemble playing. -
Is it over yet?
You can change that setting on a Go Pro to give a normal lens view as well
Indeed. They have edge correction as well I think.

GoPro Session would be the model of choice. https://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/cameras/hero-session/CHDHS-104-EU.html

Update: Just to let folks know, I went with the Shure 425s. I was going to buy the Pro20s but by the time I was in a position to buy the special offer they'd been on had ended, taking them outside my budget. Since I have no back-to-back comparison I can only go with what I have; and what I have sound pretty good. It's a noticeable improvement over the last set at their best; even, extended bass and much improved clarity with a nice crisp top end. They'll do nicely for what I need. Thanks again to everybody who contributed. If I didn't go with your recommendation, please don't take it personally.

Any famous guitarists good at playing bass?
leftybassman392 replied to Jenny_Innie's topic in General Discussion
@Jenny_Innie No disrespect intended here, but you may find you get more reasoned discussion if you take the time to address considered criticism (for example the fact that you appear to be making judgements about other peoples' choices without giving them any clue as to your assessment criteria for the topic at hand). Rubbishing the many comments made with a sweepingly dismissive gesture but no explanation stands a pretty good chance of confusing - and possibly annoying - people who have responded in good faith, wouldn't you say? There's some very knowledgeable people here who really enjoy discussing this kind of topic, not to mention a healthy sprinkling of hardened professionals. Dismissing their opinions in such a high-handed way is bound to put peoples' backs up, and make them wonder about your motives. -
I think we all are...
Not me: not anymore. There's plenty of evidence been provided here of players who would satisfy any reasonable interpretation of the OP, and if the thread instigator is unconvinced then (not to appear unduly harsh or dismissive but) so what? I'm out. -

leftybassman392 replied to Jenny_Innie's topic in General Discussion
I'm unconvinced.
Well since you've made no effort to provide any context, nobody has a clue what your criteria are. What's to stop you making exactly the same remark ad infinitum? In fact, if I were of a cynical disposition I might start wondering whether this has anything to do with guitarists or bassists at all. I might go further and wonder whether this isn't just a pot-stirring exercise... -
It is a bit juvenile if we're honest, but if it's the worst thing we have to worry about today then we'll have done pretty well.
