1. still considering sensible offers for this huge sounding, monstrous chunk of vintage fender history. Austerity measures my arse, get yourself a slab bodied chunk o' fun and put the smile back on your face. Guaranteed recession proof (sort of).

  2.
Gibson RD Artist bass?
Can I be a tart and say, tell me more, but probably not? Whilst I do love the look of the rd artist, I've not played one, and need to raise some actual cash from this. It would have to be very special to force the sale of something else from the stable..... They all get played see, and my jazz, which would have to go instead, is a deeply lovely thing. So tell me more and i will mull it over.

  3.
If only it had been one of the 51 RI Telecasters, I'd be all over this...! Good luck with the sale. :-)
Cheers. For certain, it's a different sound to the original '51 single coil sound. Good luck in your quest;-)

  4.
What kind of neck does this have on it? Never played a Telecaster bass, but have lusted after one for ages....
F.A.T. it's a serious p bass sized handful. A proper 70s deep U if you like. Man sized! A seriously comfy neck if big necks are your thing (and they are mine!)

  5. OK, you know the drill.

As you can see, this is a straight, '72 telecaster bass, with only slight, honest playing wear. This is a factory natural Bass, not stripped, but the finish is slightly scabby / orange peely around the heel. I am confident that this is factory natural, since if it was stripped, it was a VERY thorough job, as there's NO trace of any colour anywhere else on the body. Even the ferrule holes are clean, and it's all solder in tact (including bridge earth). It's pretty standard weight for the era, I've played heavier Les Pauls, but this is no lightweight. The sounds is HUGE, as you would expect, and it has it's OHSC with plenty of Rock n Roll history covering it. This is a very straight, well preserved piece of Fender's mighty heritage. Oh yes, and it has the infamous 3 bolt microtilt neck, but thankfully, the microtilt has never been used, just the good old fashioned cardboard shim, so there's to ski jump neck hump to contend with.

This bass plays beautfully as is. Has a decent, low / medium action and although the frets will tell you that they've been played, there's still plenty of life in them and no horrible rattles of flat / dead spots. Neck is true, no twists, and just the right amount of relief to allow a nice action without any rattling.

I'm open to sensible offers on this beast. Get your Gruhns guides out and PM me with an offer, but don't be too cheeky eh? This is an opportunity to buy a piece of valid Fender history at a sensible price. And let's not forget, the 70s seem to get cooler every day. Looking for something IRO £[s]1700[/s] 1500.

  6. I'm selling my Rumble 100 1X15. It's 2 years old, in very tidy (some would say mint) condition. No snags tears or scuffs to the carpet covering. It's been lightly gigged and rehearsed and never seen any abuse. Everything works as it should, and given a bit of a hoover over the carpet covering, you'd be hard pressed to tell it wasn't brand new.
Don't be fooled by the meagre power rating, this amp will cope perfectly well with small gigs, and has held it's own admirably against 2 guitarists and a drummer. It's big, but relatively light weight and easy to transport. Fits easily in the back of a Seat Altea, and also went into the boot of my (cough) prius without problem. Please PM me with any questions. I'm in north Essex, but I travel a bit so delivery COULD be an option, or I can ship by TNT at cost (about £15 at a guess).
DON'T BE SHY - I WON'T BE OFFENDED IF YOU WANT TO MAKE AN OFFER. These are around the £300 mark new and worth every penny at that too.

Here are some pics. As you can see, all she needs is a hoover over to be showroom fresh. Scuff to plastic corner protectors shown in the interest of absolute honesty.

  7. I had exactly this problem at an outdoor gig I did a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't see my tuner display at all - and if god's really on your side you'll need sunglasses so the effect will be multiplied. In the end, I wedged my bass flight case half open with a mic box and sat the tuner inside the case. Worked a treat. Not a sharp looking as cocktail umbrellas though I'll grant you.

  8.
Hi all this is my first post here. I usually think that bass shouldnt be altered or anything but the band "White Denim" has the sickest bass sound Ive ever heared and i want to recreate it. here is a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eYwkkujr5Y.

What pedal should i get to get that sound? and what setting would i use with that pedal. im guessing its a fuzz pedal but i know little about pedals.

    Thanks in advance.
First up, what a cool song, and what a tasty bass tone. Cheers for the link. Being an oldster, I'd not heard of these, so thanks for the intro. As far as tone's concerned I'd agree with what pretty much everyone else has said. You really need a 'Ray for that sound, and secondly, unless your amp is super, hifi clean, just digging in hard will get you close. If your amp is clean and your budget won't stretch to the sansamp I'll risk a flaming by suggesting the Boss ODB-3, on a lightish overdrive setting with plenty of treble. There's plenty of people out there that wouldn't piss on a flaming ODB-3, but I reckon they actually have some pretty tasty sounds in them, including something quite close to that one....

  9. cheers for the sterling advice all. I've just dropped the cash for a dha di/eq which he's going to add a footswitch to. not the cheapest, certainly not the most expensive, a fair price for a bespoke (ish) piece of kit, made in the uk by a real person. I'll let y'all know how I get on.
incidentally I spotted an aguilar tone hammer on ebay going for 140. as far as I know it's still on there, and seems like a steal. I'm sticking to brit built for now though.
