    I have an Takamine ABG with phosphor bronze strings on it, and I'm finding it a little bright. So I'm looking at some d'addario flats / chromes. Can anyone tell me the differences between flats and chromes, or are they the same? What would be the best gauge for this bass, as I see most of their sets are a heavier gauge than on it now? I don't want to change the nut to accommodate new strings. More of an upright sound, than twang required

    Kev, you maybe correct. These were purchased as Schaller a good few years ago, but no 'S' or Schaller on them, as you'd expect to see. I'll edit my first post. To reflect this, and thanks for the heads up.

    FOR SALE: A Stagg Fusion unlined fretless. As I've just purchased a fretless Jazz bass, there's no love for this. So it needs a new home. It's sunburst, but with a very dark surround to it, see the image. A few dings but nothing major. More pics and sound clip available via email if required. I upgraded the tuners and originals were a little 'sticky'...Has Nickels on it in 45 - 105 gauge. Just £50 collected or £50 + postage delivered. If you want to arrange a courier no problem, I can if you wish at your cost. This Bass cost me just short of £190 new about 12 - 14 months ago.

    Dumb question of the week... Can anyone tell me the basic difference from these three versions of D'Addario Nickel 45 - 105s please? They all look like the same string, just in different packs....I'm guessing number three is long scale, but the only difference? What am I missing?
