Seeing some of what I could only describe as "ridicules" prices on mainly counterfeit or snide mock up Fender basses.
Are people really prepared to pay nearly a thousand pounds for what is a counterfeit vintage period snide instrument .

    yes

from someone who has sworn about relic basses, why pay money etc etc
For some 3 months now my limelight is choesen in preference to my nearly pristine usa lakland jo osbourne.
It feels right, sounds great and you are not worried if theres an odd dent

  2. Hi
Up for sale is my PJB 12b Neo 600w

A lot of people seem to be a bit put off these because of the small speakers but it has a monster sound, very clear and great projection. It can really make the air move. I normally use a pjb 8b with an M500 head, and I bought this for larger gigs and because occasionally I play with some really noisy guitards.

I dont really use it as much as I thought, and although a reasonable weight at 68lbs, Im no spring chicken so I find it a bit heavy. Its got a set of really good quality industrial castors so its a breeze to wheel even over rough ground.

Here is the phil jones blurb
    .“Neo Power” Series Cabinet
Light weight and Powerful. Your back will thank you at the end of the gig!
The result of PJB’s 3-year research in lightweight speaker units is a new driver with unprecedented power to weight ratio. The magnet material is Neodymium Iron Boron (NeFeB). This magnet material is currently the most powerful one available on the planet, which gives the PJB acoustic motor the necessary torque for maximum cone excursion with maximum precision and control.
Many other bass amp companies often use an “off the shelf” driver unit that has been designed by a speaker manufacture for use on a broad range of applications. PJB speakers are developed to fit the specific requirements of acoustic loading and necessary frequency range of bass guitars. This explains why no other brand of bass amp has a tone even close to that from a PJB amp.
With the NEO-POWER speaker cabinets, you get the best power and tone to weight ratio. Until now, nothing this light has ever sounded so good and yet is so powerful… You no longer need to be a weight lifting athlete to put the bass cabinet into the truck of your car. Your back will thank you at the end of the gig!
You can see from the photos that its in great shape, you have to look hard to see its not a new cab.

The street price of these seems to be around £1250 and I have seen an ex demo for £1099

Its in great shape, You can see from the pics, you have to look hard to see its not new. Comes with a Hot covers cover
Not looking for trades thank you

In that case, I'd confirm the propos; Fender o/p trannies are usual happy at up to 100% 'mis-match', ie: 8 Ohm cab on 4 Ohm setting, 2 Ohm cab on 4 Ohm setting etc. 6 Ohms presented to the 8 Ohm setting won't hurt it. That's a great cab and a great amp; it'll sound wonderful, I'm sure. Nice gear. :)

Why thank you sir, will see how it sounds tonight

Use 8 ohms, as it's better (in general...) to be presenting slightly less impedance. It's a nominal impedance anyway, and not really as critical as all that. What amp/cab..? That might help more than simply the impedance.

the cab is a pjb 12b and a fender 100t

  5. I have been wireless since the 80s and would never go back. The line6 is very good but I thought a bit flimsey around the cable area, I currently use a stageclix which is pretty bombproof and you dont have to worry about batteries as it recharges itself when not in use. Downside is on an active bass it sometimes needs an extension cable as it can amplify the preamp noise.

FWIW I have an old Samson at home, this is quite suceptible to interference, particularly my pc

Love the look of this one too! Only thing I'm not sold on with mine is the shade of the Burgundy Mist, and yours looks to be the same.

It's a lot more purple and darker than on vintage Fenders, and the CS models. Guy Pratt's looks quite a bit lighter for example...I wonder what paint Mark uses for these?

I thought it a bit dark too but assumed the finish would change with age and this is period correct. If you look at the other care he has taken with other details, I would assume he has researched this and got it right.

'50s reissue wouldn't have trussrod access at the headstock. Looks like the access route is present on that headstock. Not sure about the black over-spray in the pocket, or the weird white filler material, either.

I have a MIM classic 50 re issue and the truss rod acces is on the headstock end as this one has. If you look on the fender web site you will see a picture
