I use a number of different couriers at woork and they are all going to have to try harder to compete.
Interlink will give you on line tracking so you can see where your parcel is and get a realtime estimate within an hour plus sunday deliveries.
Hermes, for all their faults, I can go half a mile and post my parcel up to 11 oclock at night 7 days a week.
You have to chose your courier depending on your parcel.
The only good thing parcel force has going for them is they willl deliver to your local post office so you dont have to stay in.

The 4 b is an 8 ohm cabinet. If you connect each amp speaker out amp to cab, and daisy chain the first cab to a second, you will end up with an impepedance of 2 ohms if my maths works out . You would be best advised to e mail the phil jones website, which phil himself often answers and ask him if his amp will work down to 2 ohms.

I know WAL bassist used to use 2 6bs which I think were 6 ohm cabinets which gave 3 ohms, and I have used an 8b and a 4 b with an M500.

Actually the original spec quoted by Mark was a tort guard. I didnt complain though when it came with a white one

I feel quite envious of some of you who have been able to spec your yob basses, unfortuately my arrival was a number of years prior to CLFs first bass in 1951 although I note the first electric bass was apparently designed by Paul Tutmarc in the 1930s

Anyway, some years ago when first seeing a relic guitar I was quite vocal about the whole principle, and what madness it was to take what was originally a shiny new guitar, and pay extra to get someone elsed to deliberately make it looked old and battered. After all, havent I spent the last 50 odd years trying to take care of my instruments and amps, respraying my original 64 p bass [sobs] replacing those crackly old pots with nice new ones, and a nice new shiny bbt bridge because the old one was corroded.

A few years ago I was walking past one of the shops in London, Macaris it might have been, and I saw a sonic blue reliced custom shop Jazz, which raised a little flicker. Some months ago I played a couple of nashes in westside and was somewhat unimpressed.

Fast forward until a couple of months ago and I saw discreets white one and i was hooked. I looked on Marks web site and fell for the burgundy mist jazz but I wanted stack knobs, which are on my lakland, and I prefer. I e mailed Mark and asked him if he could swap the controls over, but he said no, but offered to make me a new/old one with the stack knobs earthing strip etc

With much trepidation I ordered one one the 1st of July which was delivered yesterday and Im really pleased with it. Mark was a true gentleman in his dealings, made a number of suggestions kept me informed and delivered the bass a month early.

Mark doesnt do the fender decals any more, I would have been happy to put a limelight one on but he doesnt do those either so i put a fender one on as I think it looks silly without. I know there has been some discussion on this but I think it needs something,

The best bit is I think it looks like a genuinely old bass, a bit battered but not an obvious fake. I hummed and hahed about the amount of relicing, I really like Karlfers as well which is less reliced, but in the end I left it to Mark and thought what will be will be.

The olny thing I have to face up to now [apart from telling my wife] is the cries of derision I will probably get next saturday when my band mates Ron ad Chris see how I chanfed my tune.

Nice new Acoustic Bass Rig

Im 68, the guitarist in my main band is 69 and we play 40 to 45 gigs a year for the last 20 odd years. I also play in two other bands, which gives me another 20 odd and I still work full time

I still love it as much as I ever did although standing is sometimes tiring, as is lugging equipment.

The biggest drawback is I cant get a YOB bass.

I love the sound of a 3 piece instruments, everything is generally clear and you all get your own space.
If you are playing Rock and Roll as opposed to 'rock', listen to Eddie cochran and buddy holly, very sparse. Also have a look at the stray cats, a modern take on rock and roll. Look at the drummers kit, a snare and and a high hat. No toms, try reversing what you are trying to do, get it simple. .

I use an 8b with a M500 for most gigs and it sounds great and pretty loud. I had a guy come up to me a while ago when I was using it with a rickenbacker and he said he couldnt beleive the volume and tone from those tiny speakers.

I did get hold of a 12 b a little while ago for those gigs where you want to pin someones ears to the wall.

If the street price is $1200 dollars thats going to be £1200 over here. I like lakland and skyline basses but for me I would rather either pick up a second hand MIA Expensive but very good
