1. Lo9ok at some of the MIJ CIJ precisions, particularly the 62 reissues. I have a white cij and the neck feels identical [almost] to my 64 original precision. The classic 50s reissue feels very similar.

If I was looking for what you are, I would seriously look at the Japanese made precisions as their quality is very good

2. I supported an early version called Hopscotch which had Onnie and Alan plying with them in some place in reading with an audience of about 20. Even then they were terrific.
I have always preferred Alans singing, some days it put the old shivers down my back.
Saw them at Komedia last year. Absolutely terrific.

3. There are a couple of Korg i3s on fleabay look as if they would go for less than 200

They are a later product than the m1 and would do what you wanted. This was a £2000 instrument when it was introduced.

I will never moan about depreciation on a bass having bought one of these

. If we covered the cab with tolex then it would be less time consuming to make the cab look nice but the finish would be more easily damaged in most cases and impossible to repair.

From my point of view, although very well recommended the one thing that puts me off your product is the painted finish. I would much prefer a tolex finish. I have been used tolex covered since I started laying and with a suitable cover and reasonable care handling, the tolex on all my amps has stood up well.

5. I have been using a stageclix for about six months and I am very pleased with it. I have used this to replace a samson which tended to be a bit noisy.
The Stageclix signal is clear, theres no hum and I love the fact you dont have to change the battery because its rechargable with a built in charger; I also like the fact its a bug type transmitter..

The drawbacks are its a but sensitive with active basses. My precision fitted with a raven lavs preamp does hum if you have the input gain on the amp and or volume on the bass, but it is useable.

There is a fix where you can buy a holster for your strap and an extension cable although it is in my view bloomin expensive for what it is.

I would also say the connectors on the back of the unit are not very ergonomically laid out.

6. I have stored all my amps and cabs in my garage since 1979 with no apparent problems. I have always used covers, and in the last few years I have raised them off the floor a couple of inches.
I also store things like electrical tools and a lawnmower and a strimmer again with no apparent problems.

I'm afraid there won't be a next time. That's the bands last public gig :-(

Thats a real shame, one of the few bands I have actually made an effort to go and see when I had a free evening.

Have you really?

Assuming you are the band with lady vocs and keys, drums, guitar, bass, lady and gent saxes yes, at the heroes in Waterlooville, at the Fountain in Rowlands Castle

9. Before you decide you dont like the tone, use a long lead or a radio and listen to how the bass sounds in a band context as I have found the sound on stage is not neccessarily the sound you hear out front. The other thing I found my rick sounds better with rick strings rather than in my case rotos or EB the D and the A strings are a slightly different gauge.

Fenders Dirty Little Secret -
The Plastic Coating of Guitars since 1963

Fact:
All Fender Guitars made since 1963 are Polyester coated. Lacquer is put on top of the poly to satisfy the general publics belief that Nitro Cellulose (nitro) Lacquer finished guitars "breathe", "dry" and generally have become the bottom line for creating great tome. I'm talking USA, Vintage collectable instruments that the general public has bought, traded, and sold for over 50 years. They came from the Fender factor with a hard plastic jacket underneath it. A suffocating wolf, masquerading under a cloak of Lacquer Fender later switched to 100% Poly and UltraViolet cured Resin on Squire, Mexican, Japanese, some USA and all other imports till this day.

Fact:
The two-part catalyzed coating named "Fullerplast" (Fuller for Fuller O'Brien, the products creator, and plast for the obvious PLASTIC"), solved all of Fenders finishing problems; encasing the deep wood pores in a self-hardening plastic that wrapped the body in a rock-hard solid coffin. In some cases we have found it to be as thick as a.060 string. Yes, all of the wood moisture and characteristics are sealed in a virtual time-capsule, only to be vented from the body through screw holes and paint fractures. Share this info and be the hit of your next guitar gathering!

Fact:
Fender rarely mentions Fullerplast, or the way it prepares its bodies before applying Lacquer. If they mention it at all
So, when someone tells you that a Fender "nitro-cellulose" or "nitro" finished guitar will sound better, have more warmth, or will dry out... they really don't have the full story.

Ask any seasoned guitar craftsman what happens when you will apply paint stripper to a Fender "nitro" finish.

11. I have been using an m500 with a 8b neo for coming up for three years and its great. Dont be put off by the fact its 5 in speakers it is designed for the job and they go low. I have had people coming up and saying they dont beleive how well it sounds.
Put it into perspective though, I think the 8 b is rated as similar to a 2x10 so It wont fill the Royal Albert Hall but I expect the 24 b will
I have given it some serious wellie on occasions and it just takes it. Some people are put off by the fact the vol knob does need to be turned up because it will give more the more you turn it up. I sometimes use it with and an extension 4x5 for a bit more.
I have never tried with a non phil jones.cab.
That nice Mr Andy Milner at PMT will look after you if you want one I expect, he did me
