1. I had an issue last year when I was interested in buying a phil jones cab. Made an enquiry which I had to chase 4 times.

I wrote a letter of complaint to their MD and had call from a guy called Andy Milner who went out of his way and then some to sort the issues out. He arranged a delivery direct and kept me informed every step of the way.

When I then got a hankering for a head as well, I got superb sevice and a very good price.

Best service I have had in a music store for 40 years

2. Selling my 50s classic Precision in Fiesta Red.

This has hardly been played and could have come out of the shop yesterday. Mint

I have 5 precisions, this MIM 3 CIJs and a real 64 and this plays as well as any of them.

Regretfully selling to fund a lakland I just couldnt resist.

Best price I can see on the net is £601 so haggle around £450 and sorry no trades. Comes with fender gig bag

Hi Pete

If it was the older 4001V63 reissue I would have, but that lefty style headstock just doesn't float my boat!

Thanks anyway mate

If he was offering a 4001 c64 I would reconsider its a cracking bass. Best rick I have ever played

Flea is using acoustic now which means he is using 18" http://www.acousticbassusa.com/products/361.html

All you have to do is ask yourself why it costs 400 quid. You're answer's right there.

Thats where you are going wrong. A mere £400
You need these http://www.highendcable.co.uk/Nordost%20VALHALLA%20Power.htm at £2495 This will make your amp sound better, prevent you from playing wrong notes, and make you irresistable to the opposite sex

6. I find the response across the strings to be really good as well. I can pay right down the bottom, and then go right up the top and the sound is even and full. The last one I had which was in the mid 90s, was also a mono with dots, cant remember the model at the time, sounded dull, had no balls, and the neck just didnt feel right, it was sticky and just yuch.Looked great hanging on the wall but thats it.
I have played on and off with the same drummer and guitard since 1970 and they have both said that the combination of that and my Phil Jones is the best sound I have ever got. Sounds pretty good through my acoustic too.

7. I bought one of these new in June but fireglow and despite being a thoroughly dyed in the wool precision man, I have played virtually nothing else since I got it. It is a completely different beast to the last one i bought, both in playability and sound.

The price that Chris wants for it is a steal, wish I could have found one at that price.

8. My 14 year old daughter who has been playing acoustic guitar for a while wanted to change to electric. I took her to a number of different music stores, and gave her the oportunity to try different guitars on a number of different occasions until she was clear what was comfortable and what she wanted. [a telecaster]
I also persuaded her that she would get more for my money going second hand, and would probably get almost the same back when selling
I would always suggest a precision of some sort but if he doesnt feel comfortable with it, it wont work
Try before you buy

+1 on the exposed handle thing. it makes it easier for the courier to carry it as well.

I always do cut outs to expose the handles on cabs as well. Makes it easier for the courier to carry and less likely to be dumped down if they have something substantial to hold onto

Couriers are just blokes like you and me. One of our locals is even a bass player. If you try and make it as easy as possible for them by marking as fragile, and making it easy for them there is far less risk of damage.

One of the guys here sold me a precision, and sent it in a flimsey fender gig gig, it arrived unmarked.

i deal with most of the couriers through my work, and most of em try hard, but there are always exceptions .
