1. Welcome Love the Avatar I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I resign
 2.
I saw them last year in Brighton - small gig on the seafront. They were great - actually they were amazing
They are great in an intimate environment. Met Alan Gorrie and Onnie Macintyre beforethey were famous, great blokes
 3. I went down this route trying to get some 8" neo speakers Hotrox are the distrutors for Sica who used to supply ashdown and they will supply neos but they quoted me £70 odd each They may supply steel at a cheaper price, and I would also talk to Leanbusiness who supply Celestion for their advice, they are very helpfull
 4. Absolutely fantastic band one of my favourites Saw them a few years ago in Fleet when they had re formed without Hamish Steward. Ive always loved Alan Gorries voice
 5.
The folk-rock band was my idea and I ran the band, that in itself led to all sorts of problems. When I say, I ran the band, the bandleader role was something that I got landed with really, not something I really wanted.
Yes I have that role in my main band on the basis of If I dont do it no one else will. I used to get very frustrated, but now i just get on with it. However, I joined another band which is really only a bit of fun. One of the guitarists is in the same boat as me and runs a function band, we both try and stay away from that side of things and say we will play and thats it. Serves you right for retiring the acoustic, its got the hump and is bringing you bad vibes man
 6.
I'm looking forward to getting back to playing the sort of stuff I like and having a bit more input....
Why dont you advertise for musicians of similar taste and then you are much more in control of your own destiny
 7.
I think ultimately when it stops being fun it is time to move on
Couldnt agree more, Unless you making a living out of it thats the whole purpose
 8.
Thanks for your opinions. Its difficult to see both sides of this issue being so close to it. The hardest thing to swallow is the implication that you have cheated someone out of something. When i buy a bass i will only get it a decent case if it is a keeper - if not its usually sold in the case that it came in which is normally adequate. I can understand that people might have a different view on this but when (and i have) received a bass in a rough old case it does not bother me. Its the bass that i am interested in.
Please dont think i was having a go I certainly wasnt, there but for the grace of God etc, Neither would I agree you have tried to cheat someone. What you have come across someone with different expectations to your own, or he is trying it on, or whatever. Buying something on mail order is about the only thing we ever do, without actually looking at the item before parting withour cash. The Ebay definition of used goods is An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or an item that has been returned to the seller after a period of use. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections. So ebay put the onus on you to properly describe the item, and I would bet that your buyer would have still bought the item if you had described it as coming with a scruffy case. With any future listings you need to cover your arse and describe everything as well as possible to avoid this situation again. Again I havent seen the listing, and I dont know the condition of the case, but if it was functional but scruffy I would think you have complied with the listing. I have about 1500 odd ebay trades under several different names and all with a 100% feedback, although that obviously includes my buys. It obviously depends on what you want to do but what I would do in your case is to let the guy go through the paypal procedure, and if you are in the position to do so if you lose, get the bass returned and relist it That will mesan you are out of pocket the cost you paid to ship it in the first place. Alternatively, you could offer say £20 discount against repairs to the case. What you shouldnt do is expect to pay for a new one, Good Luck
 9.
I ended up filing a case with the Financial Services Ombudsman to get my money back.
Im sure they often get things wrong, the fact you got your money from the ombusman would point to that. If anything, I would have expected pay pal to lean towards the seller to make sure they get their fees. Anyway, to the OP I hope you get it sorted without too much hassle. Ive learnt the hard way to make sure I check double and triple check the listing, and keep the photographs. Last time I sold an amp I even took a video to show all the controls working and no hum etc. It takes a bit of extra time but can save loads of heartache in the end
 10. It took me months to really get the hang of it, I kept making daft mistakes like fretting the e string and plucking the B where I was so used to the E being the lowest string. Once i got the hang of it, and consistantly playing the 5, it was fine. However, I struggled when I went back to a 4. Because Im a bit of an old tart, I like to play different basses but eventually I found there was too much hassle changing form 4 to 5 to 4 so I sold my 5 and happily stayed with 4 strings since then. I found the lower notes less used and less usefull than I thought, and you can always use a d tuner, but found the ability to play a bigger range of notes without moving my left hand so much very usefull
 11. Paul Mcartneys something which I think is a little busy, but fun to play. I rephrase that Harrisons Tune, PMC lines My best friend has written a Banjo tutor with accompanying CD of old Irish tunes which have all funny timings. Ive been working on those for weeks to record as backing tracks for the CD. They are simple but a real sod to do
 12. Every time I see a dispute over an ebay purchase I try to see both sides of the dispute. I have seen a few here where the original poster has raised an issue, and a lot of people respond that the other party is trying a scam. without looking at the original listing, none of us can really comment as to if the complaint is fair The buyer has made a purchase based on the information you have given him, and if the information is incomplete, then the buyer has a right to complain. It all depends on the 'The goods must be as described' You have to look at the listing, put yourself in the other guys place, and try and read the advert objectively. If you have advertised a FenderJazz MIA in immaculate condition, complete with hard case, then I would expect a reasonable condition case. If you said it was a reliced Jazz bass with Mojo, I would probably expect a case to match. While I dont agree with everything Ebay does, their resolution system is not that bad. You do have the choice of giving a refund, in which you can get all your fees back and then selling it, or see what paypal says.
 13.
these kind of idiots annoy me... I agree, ask him to send the bass back then you will refund assuming the bass is in the same condition minus the P&P.. You'll be fine in this dipuse.. Evil bay yes.. the buyers and sellers are worse.. well some are nice ;-) us lot
If I remember correctly the ebay terms are that the buyer is responsible for the return of an item, but if you agree a refund, you have to refund the original P&P I would let him raise a dispute with paypal, and answer accordingly. You said it was shipped in a case, and it was, but it would help you in the future in a similar situation you described it as coming with a scruffy case, or case for transit only.
 14. I had an early one with the chrome control plate, and it had the best neck I think I have played, but it was heavy. Sold it when I bought a MM5 but got the chance to buy it back again last year. Still wonder if I should have done

Bournemouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Swindon areas anyone please?
There is a company near ringwood who repaired our pa I think they are called the boyz but I cant be sure. I will get hold of our guitarist who knows them, You could call Oasis in ringwood, they will probably know
 19. G&l have never had the popularity that the stingray has although they are great basses. The very early ones with the front mounted control plate and the Fendery headstock are becoming collectable but I think he will be lucky to get his asking price. Having said that if the right person wants it
 20.
Not many people realise* that Mrs T is actually Suzi Quatro (Can the Can - Mrs Tinman - you see what she did there?), while skank is none other than former PM John Major. *mostly because I just made it up. Or did I?
If Skank is John Major was TBBC Edwina Curry?
