You can do wonders with vinyl with a can of WD40. Spray it on like a generous squirt of furniture polish and buff off with a clean cloth. repeat until clean and shiny. Have fun.
Thanks Phil, I will give that a go Ive previously used that stuff you use on the plastic trims on cars but its full of silicone, and mikes everything really slippery
 2.
Man I don't understand why all you snobby bass players are so bothered about the fact I haven't "wiped" the bass? Whats wrong with you all? If you like the tokai then buy it and wipe it yourself - no need to be a little bitch and moan about it! It's clearly an amazing bass, if it bothers you then you can always wipe it yourself when it arrives or if your scared of breaking a nail then you can get your butler to do it - it won't change anything, it will still be the same kick ass bass. Now grow some balls girls.
I have no interest in your listing, I already have an early black Tokai, What you did have is several suggestions how you may improve your chance of selling your Tokai, and getting the best price for it. Ask yourself the question, how many comments have you had saying yeah, the dirty bass makes it look better versus the people who say it looks naff. If you sell it at full price, good luck to you, if it doesnt sell, or only reaches minimum price, ask yourself whose bothered about it, It wont be me, and ask yourself how many people have been put off by your refusal to clean it and your arrogant attitude
 3. Hello nice to see you here
 4.
He he! Thanks for the tip, I know it's not everyone's preference but I've kind of taken pride in never cleaning this bass - I much prefer seeing the history in it and maybe it's just me but I think a grubby road worn bass is the kind of instrument that has clearly 'lived' and somehow carries a bit of a story. It's only my humble opinion but if I was looking for a bass its one of the things that would attract me personally. Appreciate your input though.
I would agree with outshined. A lived in bass is one thing, a dirty bass would give me the impression the owner didnt care and hadnt looked after the bass

 8.
I did a feature on GG's guitar collection for Guitar & Bass mag in 2009 and it wasn't one he chose to exhibit. In fact he said he much preferred Jazz Basses.
Micks book is very good, Stars and Guitars by Michael Heatley
 9.
Until OBBM's cable arrives I nipped into town and bought this, figure its worth the £5 it cost me if it means I can get the Ashdown LB30 fired up tonight! However I will be swapping in OBBM's as soon as I get them.
Cmon what does it sound like
 10.
... except when he was playing a Goodfellow.
Hey Im old, my memory is shot, and I need glasses Its the philosan and other drugs what done it
 11. I posted about great servive from Hot Covers yesterday. I have also had covers from roqsolid, and they were very helpfull, did a mod for free, and made good a seam coming undone without a quibble.
 12. I dont remember Graham Gouldman playing anything other than a Ricky but I assume if you collect you get to see him. I doubt hes selling a fake Its a bloody minefield out there, every time I see something that takes my fancy, someone points out a potential problem
 13. Very Nice It would be nice to have a semi custom built, ah well one day
 14. Sometimes there is an itch and all you can do is scratch it. The one thing going for you is that if you decide you made the wrong choice, hipefully you can sell the fender at a similar price you bought itf for, and take advantageof low warwick prices to buy a replacement. Warwicks dont do it for me dunno why, but yours is nice.
 15. It is something that has gained momentum over time, particularly as amps have got more and more powerfull In the 60s a lot of us used whatever lead was available, screened or not, with no apparent problems, but a 100w amp was conisdered a big amp whereas now its considered small I wouldnt worry id I was using it at home, but why run the risk if you dont have to for the sake of a few quid your amps cost more than that
 16.
Please convince me I am a complete f***ing tool. Thank you.
You are a complete f***ing tool OK?

 18.
Thanks for your help, went to the Bassic Bits ebay store and bought a cable from there. Will also have a look round the local shops, see if there is anything available to tide me over til OBBM's gets here. Still looking for the virgins blood cables
http://www.highendcable.co.uk/Nordost%20VALHALLA%20Power.htm Virgins Blood Mains cable for the ashdown Only £2200
 19. Dee Murray And for those of a certain age, Terry [Jet] Harris
 20. If you can wait for mail order go to Bassic Bits If you are wanting to try it out as I would as soon as possible, go down to your local store and just buy a lead thats just long enough but not too long, with reasonable quality plugs on the end. PersonallyI am not a beleiver of the solid silver made with virgins blood cables, particulalrly on a speaker. You just need a decent quality plug on each end, and a reasonable size conductor in the cable.
 21. Ive sold mine now, but I didnt have any sign of fretwear after a year

 23.
Ah RTFM fair enough
Wise to check though, I had that problem a few years ago with an amp
 24.
Quick slight OT. My amp (RH450) has a good DI out and I don't want it to get Phantom Fried. Is there any kind of safety buffer I could put in between? Something to absorb the phantom power should it be active on the desk.
If its a decent amp it should be buit in, certainly my eden from 1998 has so your RH should have I think there is a resistor or a capacitor wired across the di out to protect it. Look in the manual
