6. I had a dual showman cab many years ago with two jbl d140s in with an HH top sounded great
7. This craigs list ad on the bottom line sums it all up for me Bass player needed for working folk-rock group gigging 5+ dates per month. MUST have the following: 1. Technically brilliant on the bass 2. Must have own transportation 3. Must own a PA system adequate for rooms up to 400 persons 4. Must transport PA to all gigs (see # 2) and set up and take down while the rest of the band schmoozes fans 5. Must provide 2,3 and 4 at no additional cost to the band 6. Must be capable of lead and harmony singing at perfect pitch 7. Must be willing to serve as booking and business manager for the band. Bass player is expected to secure most of the band's gigs. 8. Must be able to supply subsidized housing for band members. 9. Must be willing to buy instruments for band members (accordion, bagpipes, hand percussion etc.) so that the band can expand the sound 10. Must own field recording rig so live shows can be recorded and archived The band will conduct auditions and interviews. Please bring an inventory of the equipment we require to the audition and interview so we can determine if your gear will satisify our requirements. Successful candidate will earn an equal band share of gig payment, typically $50 minimum per 4 hour show. We have a gig Friday and another Sunday and 3 more beyond that in November, so move fast if you want this opportunity of a lifetime!
8. if its a c110 its a small cab, I have one, if you want to match you need to choose a 1x15 mini or a mini 4x8 i use a mini 4x8 im not too struck on the 1x15 if i were you i would be inclined to have a look at the barefaced cabs.
9.
What a thread I started! The I saw them in 2000 and, yes, musically impeccable but not exactly exciting.
If that was the one at the old wembley I went up with a group of friends we had been excited for weeks , but we left before the end because the sound was appalling.
10. I have started collecting so i have Eden Traveller head plus Ashdown 1x15 and 4x8 mini cabinets Ashdown 300w 1 x10 combo to which I sometimes add the 4x8 Acoustic 220 head plus 406 2x15 cab my normal rig these days Acoustic 150b plus 404 1 x15 cab Acoustic 126 1 x15 combo
11. I prefer Becker as a bassist rather than a guitarist and all of the SD drumming is great
12.
Hmm interesting... I've always found them to be patronising, over-priced and unhelpful. That's ever since I bought my first (and last) bass from them 25 years ago!
They have done my guitarists amp and two of mine over the last 12 months reasonable prices and good turn round. I picked one up today, repaired with a new transformer, turnround time 3 days. I cant comment about prices as they are a bit out of my way and ive never bought a bass from there.
13. Add Kingfisher music in Fleet. They have an onsite workshop in store and Colin is a genius
14.
Let me have a think about that.............. Er. Nope! ATB!
Thats a typical unreasonable response from a bass chatter
15.
No it was the Classic Vibe one just like yours. The published spec says it's nut width is 1.65 so either you have a bendy ruler or they vary a lot. I suspect I won't like 1.67 if I didn't like 1.65. 1.75 on any four string bass is very wide. Are you sure? Phil
For the classic vibe I used a vernier so that measurement is accurate. Current us standard precisions are specced at 1.625, but 62 and 57 re issues in US and the mexican classic and road worn are1.75. I have an old us and 2 japanese precisions and they are all around 1.75 but as you say there is going to be a tolerance so they will vary. I personally prefer the wide necks to the narrower ones, but probably because I have had one of mine since 1969 so ive got used to it. It looks like the blue flower one has gone so i think Im going to withdraw this from sale, but thanks for your interest. Nigel
16. Nut width at the nut is 1.67 to compare my jazz is 1.5, stingray 1.7 and precision 1.75
17.
I'm very interested but can you confirm the nut width please. The only one of these I've played had a neck like a baseball bat. Phil
I will measure it when I get home tonight What was the one you played and didnt like was it the japan 51 re issue with no chamfer? usually blonde
18.
Nick (liking your avatar pic - bit like mine!)
Happy to do a swap
19. Back up for sale again 50s classic vibe precision bass in blue. Pic is from the web but the actual bass is as the pics, Ive just looked at this and there is not a mark on it that I can see, no dents or dings. it looks as if it has come straight from the shop Well reviewed and a great bass. Sadly no case, £210 plus shipping at cost.
20. I am just finishing a precision off, and i did as you did using grain filler, primer colour and lacquer. What you need to add to that is some sort of sanding sealer, there is a link here to a guy who uses pva adhesive. http://kmguitars.com/Body%20Prep%20_%20finishing.pdf If you dont add that step you will find [as I did to my cost] if there are any joins in the wood, the paint tends to sink in along the join lines over time, and a line will appear in the paint. good luck
21. There are some great suggestions in there, we have been procrastinating abiout these for some months, and now we can put our geads together a pick a few and keep them in. I love the AHB Delilah Thanks very much
