If they come out at 35 lbs they are marginally lighter than the ev 300 sx plastics so that should be a plus point

As to the meeting, now that the decision has been made and sent to you, what do you gain from a face to face meeting? You wont necessarily find out the real reason, it may make you feel better or you might loose your temper. At the end of it, although its always a blow to ones ego, I would walk away because its unlikely you can change anything, and would you want to. F... em, Dont let them live rent free in your head.

We asked our lady singer to go recently, and it is just as difficult on the other side of the fence. Everyone probably wants to be as pleasant about it as possible so it wont necessarily be easy to find out the real reason. The best thing to do is to be professional and dignified about it. You may find in 6 months time that one or more of these guys will be in another band who you may be interested in. You will know if and where from a musical perspective you did or didnt fit, and if you feel there was nothing wrong with your playing, it may just be that they wanted to get someone else in because they are mates. I have had it happen to me and I have done it to others. Best thing to do is be pleasant about it, learn lessons if they need to be learnt, and look towards finding or starting a band yourself. My experience is that within reason,it is personalities that generally make band life difficult as much as ability. I would rather play with people I get on with than people I cant stand who are good musicians. For the last 10 years I have the benefit of playing with 2 very good musicians who I like and respect. [most of the time] Lets hope you find the same

I have to admit most of my buying is on the net these days, if you buy new, there are all sorts of regulations that protect you if you buy a lemon, andd I dont think its an issue. As has been indicated in many posts, many local stores do not have either the stock, or you end up with a huge warehouse store like sound control where there is no local competition, or the standard of staff is less than adequate. OTOH, there are some fine shops out there, the gallery is loved by many, but there are more out there. As a bricks and mortar store, they will probably be more expensive because their costs are more. The more the shops loose trade to the internet, the more likely shops will close. Many people, myself included will go and demo something, and then go and try to get the best deal. You cant do that if all the stores are shut. Similalrly, what do you do if your lead/string/amp is broken and you need to buy a new one today, for the gig tonight. Where do you go for advice if you are starting out? I think as time goes on, more and more product will be bought from the internet at the expense of local shop, or you will end up with Tesco/Asda etc as a one stop shop. Remember when you went to the supermarked for petrol because it was the cheapest? They have taken a good proportionof the petrol trade and garages are shutting. Booze is cheap in the supermarket and pubs are shutting faster than they ever have been. Change is inevitable, but if you have a good local shop, support them.

I emailed the seller yesterday about the 'deluxe' bass and I just got an e mail from e bay warning me to be carefull of any e mails from this seller but no details

I think the warmoth stuff looks pretty good. I hear somewhere that thats who makes the lakland bodies and necks but thats probably just an interned rumour. I was really impressed with delbert hots 51 bass which was all warmoth parts. I wouldnt mind at some stage if i had the cash doing a warmoth precision with something like a birdseye maple nck and a really fancy body.

I have bought an item of e bay that is not as described, doesnt work, and is uneconomic to repair. Im happy to return it to the seller but why should I be out of pocket for an item i bought in good faith as in good working order?

Im looking to put together a p bass from parts. I can find advertised or on e bay necks at various prices from various suppliers Mighty Mite Dr Parts, All parts Stu mac Warmoth There seem to be some new ones from ch guitars which appear to come from the same place as sx basses Guitar parts world wide. The mighty mite, DR Bass, and ch guitars necks are all similar price, and all seem easily available in the UK. I know the warmoth neck is very good quality but they are a lot more expensive , does anyone have any experience/feedback for any of these? Thanks

Yes thats pretty much what we do. Its all down to trial and error and what works for you. Its fun sometims to go out as a three piece and then have a stonking great horn section coming out of nowhere. Try to get your clicks to be heard only by the band, not out the front as the song starts, people do notice and comment. If you change Key, horns especially need fiddling with to get them to sound good. Do you go up or down, sometimes I double and get a track an octive above, and another below. Try to find a way of easily controlling the volume, its almost impossible to get the balance right on different songs. Weve done this for years to get keys/strings etc I use a propriatry midi file because I can take out the parts I dont want, and change the key. I use cakewalk on my pc to do this but there are other programs you can use. I record a click track, usually just 4 beats to the bar, or whatever and send it to the drummer who wears either a small in ear or full headphones. It is good discipline bcause you HAVE to follow the drummer. Its pretty easy once you get used to it, but we still have the odd mishap if we dont count properly. You can use one stereo channel on a minidisc, and send the music backing to the other channel up the front. I have seen people using i pods and computers to do the same thing. Otherwise, you would have to get some sort of midi playing software and a midi sound module. It used to be the alesis data disc and a roland sound canvas some years ago but I expect there are other ways. You do have to strike a balance between being a karioke and a band, and I dont think it works to use it on every song.
