1. I got two of them Phil Jones C4 lites and tried them at home the day they arrived. They were on their way back to Thomann the following day. Beautiful tone out of them, but VERY lacking in the beans dept. Even with my (at the time PUMA 900) No way would I get the volume out of them that I need live. Hugely disappointing. Although in a gig hiatus until next weekend, the two TKS S112's with my newly acquired PUMA 500 give me no such concerns. The 2 Vanderkley EX112'S I had were excellent, but I simply wanted smaller boxes (and less glue smell!)
2. PUMA 500 Mike. More than enough beans, daft simple to use. I know folk say you shouldn't worry about it, but 900 watt head and 500 watts of speakers worried me, hence changing from the PUMA 900 to the 500. Enjoy the hunt
3.
Karlfer Remember posts on ad's don't notify the op. Unless he checks in he won't see the super friendly bump. Your a good bc'er sir!
Very kind krispn but it was actually not particularly aimed at anybody. Last week I put two buyers on to two sellers. Deals concluded. Do that VERY often, few folk bother to say ta. Anyway, moan over, as you were (might be looking good for the chap from the Yam page ).
4.
Found this thread from the Yamaha Attitude page, cheers karlfer! Is the Pearce still available?
Jeez, somebody that takes the trouble to say thanks
5. ABSOLUTE BARGAIN young Mark me lad Thank God I can't play 5's or I'd be in trouble yet again.
6.
Me too. But it does seem not a great time to sell atm Theres loads of great basses and gear for sale for silly money! This bass is simply stunning. GLWTS
If you think your Road Worn Jazz is a belter Marc, you will be besotted by this. A remarkable bass.
7. Beautiful. Love these basses
8. Seems to be Chepstow Marc.
9.
And mine too! It's one of the very early ones without the weird routing under the p/guard.
I knew I should have got this off you when I had the chance Alain. Even if it's a rosewood board
10. Another 2 today
11. Tim, have a word with Gary at Promenade in Morecambe. Bit of a trek but they usually have a good stock of Markbass gear in. That 800w you are looking at on FB, remember, since they changed to Indonesian assembly, prices have come down a good way. You can buy new/warranted now at the price of quite a lot of advertised used stuff if you look around. EDIT. Oh, and two Traveler 102P's stacked vertically make a great noise, take up very little space and have the top speaker quite close to your earhole
12. Bless you David, you brought so much pleasure and inspiration to so many. RIP.
13. Fabulous bass Rich. GLWTS, you won't need it!
14. Alain, if it doesn't work out, take your original guard off and take it to Richie Tomson in Wigan Tell him what you want it in and he will sort you.
15. Lad on FB looking for one, I've posted him a link. Good luck.
16. Absolute steal at this price.
17. Same series as my Aqua Marine one. Unless the neck was swapped out it is modern C shape, 1.6" 41.3mm. Other spec see link below. You're welcome http://www.cnjradio....0192200APg3.pdf
18. Best be quick Marc, I know of at least one other chap who is keen on this
19. Down to 4 now and trying to get down to 3. 99.9% of my gigs, I use my Mex FSR P Bass Special Deluxe Series. Amazing passive P/J that just plays and sounds
20. Love these amps. You have to REALLY try to get a poor sound out of these Great, simple, powerful amps.
21.
With typical gain staging half way on many amps and with many basses equates to full power on louder notes. Plenty of amps have the gain stages set so that they reach full power well before noon with typical input signals, because people assume that if an amp is as loud with the master volume at 10 o'clock as another amp with the master at 2 o'clock, then the first amp must be more powerful. Sadly it isn't but it sells amps in shops and means we end up with lots of amps on the market where the second half of knob rotation is worthless as you're already at full power by then.
So which amps are "guilty" of this then?
22. Think we've all sold a daft one we regret Dunc (1977 Telecaster bass, Sonic Blue for £400 ). We are at The Millstone in Darwen Sat Jan 23rd. There's a link to BBGM and Troyen websites at bottom of all of my posts (shameless plug ).
23. 1996 to 2003 series of American Standards are vastly under rated basses, as are the 2003-2008 basses. Great players (or at least every one I've played has been). GLWTS, somebody will get a great gigging tool.
24.
If you'd had a way of measuring how much power you'd actually used on your gigs, I'd put a fair amount of money on you having used almost all the power fairly often, and definitely used every last watt a good few times - bass guitar is an extremely dynamic and power hungry instrument.
You know best. As a Luddite the only point of reference I have is how far I turn the two volume knob thingy's around. NEVER more than half way on gain or master, rarely that far. Against two noisy Blackstar' d gits and a mic'd up Lurch on drums.
