Succumbed. S212 ordered. Black with oxblood cloth.
I'm getting VERY close. Black S212 with Fawn (Fender Tweedish colour) frame and Oxblood cloth I'm also struggling to avoid that stunning 64RI Barrie has in. If my Shuker goes quickly enough..................

Oh dear. Well Tim, the Shaggy who had this bass commissioned through Jon, tells me the following. Rear, caused by belt buckle. Top, caused by a copper wrist band. Dropped several times. Now, Shaggy is the bassist in Straighten Out, a top Stranglers tribute. Apparently some gigs get "a bit lively" He also plays with some other bands, so it's seen a lot of action. He originally sold it to fork out £1400 for a vintage valve amp. We had actually arranged a trade whereby I got an almost immaculate '77 P, he got this back plus a few hundred quid. Then his son found out and was a tad upset. Mainly because his son and girlfriend bought Shaggy the P for his 50th birthday So Shaggy had to back out, possibly to protect his danglies -
As title, very road worn. Great sound, plays very well. Was sold but buyer backed out. Thankfully the day BEFORE I did a 180 mile round trip to deliver it. Will provide a tatty but usable case. £30 UK mainland insured courier. Happy to talk trades. Feedback available. The Shuker JJ Burnell model is very similar and costs £1950 new. Many consider Jon to be one of England's finest luthiers. This bass is very well made from super quality materials. Despite the body finish showing it has been continually gigged, the neck and board are pretty much as new. Just LOOK at that fretboard! Price slightly negotiable if you make it collection or meet up within 50 miles of Wigan. 34” scale 20 frets maple neck birdseye maple fingerboard two way truss rod carbon fibre reinforcement brass nut Gotoh GB2 tuners Jumbo stainless steel fret wire black 6mm and 2mm position dots satin neck lacquer 2 piece white ash body - P bass shape. polyester basecoat black polyurethane gloss topcoat black/white phenolic scratch plate chrome hardware SD Basslines pup Gotoh bridge 9lb 10 oz. As I am much more jazz type orientated (although I do like P's), some examples of possible trades; Fender Mex road worn 60's series jazz, plus £100 TO me Bongo in immaculate condition, straight trade American Vintage 64 Jazz RI plus £200 FROM me. Cheers, Karl.
Many thanks, look forward to hearing from you. I do however have to disagree with the above, the neck is quartersawn AAA birds-eye maple, the light oil finish is so light that you can barely tell it's there when you play the neck but you know it's there to protect it, the board is a stunning and thick slice of ebony, and the lines and blocks are so very very well done. This is WAY WAY WAY better than American Fender quality All joking aside, it is at the very least the match for most Fender Custom Shop necks I've played (and there've been a few!) Chris
Chris is imo so right about this. When you look at Warmoth neck's they seem very reasonably priced. Then you start to add on the options and suddenly they are expensive. Then you get shipping, import etc paid and jeez it hurts. HOWEVER, the 3 I've had have been absolutely amazing quality and build. And none of those were specified as highly as this one. Thankfully this is fretless, so I'm safe. We all know Chris is a legend to deal with, somebody is going to get an amazing bass with this.
I agree. Should have been snapped a long time ago. Karl is an absolute Gent. Bought an amazing bass from him 3 years ago. Super trustworthy, great basses, knows his stuff and wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.
Thanks Paul that's really kind of you. Hope things are good.
Burgandy mist'd look awesome with that birdseye board. I have something similar..... SOLD Fender Road Worn Jazz Fiesta Red (2009) MIM SOLD

I took the Shuker (battered) Precision type as part ex on my Rick El Dorado. If the Rick had actually sold I would have been looking very strongly at buying this back. Whilst these things are always opinion, this particular bass is one of the best jazzes I've owned. There has been a few Very surprised the two that are up are still here, but, sometimes timing is everything. This bass will sell. -
Correct Jack. The law of the universe is that green basses are light. So, green bass, 4 string, non Fender with Fender decal and 4 inch strap are the only legally acceptable basses.

It happens Andy. One of them bought a bass at half the price, the other has just vanished. One of the gaytartists is away so no gigs until 24th Oct. In the absence of a sale, or part ex offers, I will probably gig it that night. It sounds great at home, if it sounds as good live, think I will just spend some gig money and ask Mr Shuker to turn it into the one on the right It will cost a lot less than most luthier custom jobs. Behave Tom I got a reply from Jon Shuker last night. I didn't copy it to here as there were two very keen to buy it last night. Both have gone awol since, despite having seen my reply to their messages. Anyway, from Mr Shuker; "Hi Karl Not a problem, yes i know the bass. It was originally built for a good friend of mine who was in a stranglers tribute band but wanted something a little different and suited to him. He wanted an uncarved, heavy white ash body…., maple neck and birdseye board. As I remember it had an incredible tone, I’ve listed the original spec below, it changed as my friend changed the bridge and the pickup, as well as the output jack location. 34” scale 20 frets maple neck birdseye maple fingerboard two way truss rod carbon fibre reinforcement brass nut Gotoh GB2 tuners Jumbo stainless steel fret wire black 6mm and 2mm position dots satin neck lacquer 2 piece white ash body - P bass shape, no carving polyester basecoat black polyurethane gloss topcoat black/white phenolic scratch plate chrome hardware originally - delano PMVC4 pickup volume, tone, side barrel jack (face jack added to s/plate) originally schaller 2000 bridge It was certainly well gigged…! best regards Jon "
