1. Andy, you have mail. You are the 1st to actually say you would like it at the reduced price of £750 collected/meet, so you have 1st refusal. I've put the price up in public so the 5 interested know I'm not playing one off against the other. Cheers all, Karl.
2. Norway leading at half time
3.
That's good! Has the '75 not been discontinued now? I thought it was replaced by the AVRI '74?
Quite right! This is, I believe, a FSR. The more cynical might think Fender did a FSR to clear out surplus gear
4. Hmm, this or Italy vs Norway Never tried one, never fancied one. Italy Norway it is then
5. Cash sale still preferable and one of the chaps did ask what the "decent bit cheaper" was. In principle he was happy with the much more bargainacious price for a quick, easy sale. He is busy this week however, so nothing in stone yet. After a few let downs this year (including this bass at the weekend)anybody wanting it on hold I'm afraid you will need to consider a deposit. Was rather taken with the Spector though and we've agreed to chat further on Thursday.
6. A 57 year old bloke. False advertising and all that Now, if it said "The Shagged Out"..........
7. I took a Shuker as part ex against an unmentionable. The Shuker is now up for sale. Great neck, stunning fretboard, sounds superb, little bit heavy at 9lb 10 oz for my aging shoulder. The more I play it, the more I'm tempted to keep it. It has real road worn, as in it looks like it's been dragged the length of the M6, on a tow rope, behind a Tranny. However, it's a great bass which to me would sound fab in the 1 hour sets I do with Troyen. So, I'm thinking remove the decal on the front (just "The Shaggster" bit), ask Jon Shuker to strip/re-fin light Burgundy Mist, with gold anodised plate. The decal has those very faint lines round it, so it seems to be a transfer on top of the lacquer. Any ideas on how to SAFELY remove gratefully accepted, cheers as ever, Karl. 8. All pm's replied. Have to admit, although prefer a sale, unusually tempted by a Spector Euro, a bass I've never considered before
9. A cab of this quality, at this price, is still here after 5 days? World's gone loopy I say! BARGAIN!!!!
10. Not a bump per se but if anybody is interested in BUYING this bass, I may well be able to do it a decent bit cheaper. BUT ONLY whilst a certain shop (Barrie!!) has a certain jazz still in stock
11.
Succumbed. S212 ordered. Black with oxblood cloth.
I'm getting VERY close. Black S212 with Fawn (Fender Tweedish colour) frame and Oxblood cloth I'm also struggling to avoid that stunning 64RI Barrie has in. If my Shuker goes quickly enough..................
12. Gorgeous bass, have a bump that fellow!
13.
That's fine. You pay for them and I'll go collect them and gig them. Sorted .
Who are you, my wife
14. Got the funds, just no longer have the will power for 8/10 hour round trips sadly. Great looking cabs with a great rep.
15. Yup, the trying of basses, that's the one. Never used to happen to me before Basschat Somebody is gonna get luck with that 'Wick
16. Stupid temptation is WHY I have basses up for sale on here
17. Stunning AND passive, yum!
18. Oh dear. Well Tim, the Shaggy who had this bass commissioned through Jon, tells me the following. Rear, caused by belt buckle. Top, caused by a copper wrist band. Dropped several times. Now, Shaggy is the bassist in Straighten Out, a top Stranglers tribute. Apparently some gigs get "a bit lively" He also plays with some other bands, so it's seen a lot of action. He originally sold it to fork out £1400 for a vintage valve amp. We had actually arranged a trade whereby I got an almost immaculate '77 P, he got this back plus a few hundred quid. Then his son found out and was a tad upset. Mainly because his son and girlfriend bought Shaggy the P for his 50th birthday So Shaggy had to back out, possibly to protect his danglies
19. As title, very road worn. Great sound, plays very well. Was sold but buyer backed out. Thankfully the day BEFORE I did a 180 mile round trip to deliver it. Will provide a tatty but usable case. £30 UK mainland insured courier. Happy to talk trades. Feedback available. The Shuker JJ Burnell model is very similar and costs £1950 new. Many consider Jon to be one of England's finest luthiers. This bass is very well made from super quality materials. Despite the body finish showing it has been continually gigged, the neck and board are pretty much as new. Just LOOK at that fretboard! Price slightly negotiable if you make it collection or meet up within 50 miles of Wigan. 34” scale 20 frets maple neck birdseye maple fingerboard two way truss rod carbon fibre reinforcement brass nut Gotoh GB2 tuners Jumbo stainless steel fret wire black 6mm and 2mm position dots satin neck lacquer 2 piece white ash body - P bass shape. polyester basecoat black polyurethane gloss topcoat black/white phenolic scratch plate chrome hardware SD Basslines pup Gotoh bridge 9lb 10 oz. As I am much more jazz type orientated (although I do like P's), some examples of possible trades; Fender Mex road worn 60's series jazz, plus £100 TO me Bongo in immaculate condition, straight trade American Vintage 64 Jazz RI plus £200 FROM me. Cheers, Karl. 20. Just had a text from the buyer, he has dropped out. Oh well, that's a 180 mile round trip tomorrow saved I'm going to ask the Mods to close this thread, it's getting a little complicated for me Thanks for all contributions.
21. Yes, that one. Git This splendid bass, as per above, is on hold. Will adjust title if it goes on Sunday.
22.
Many thanks, look forward to hearing from you. I do however have to disagree with the above, the neck is quartersawn AAA birds-eye maple, the light oil finish is so light that you can barely tell it's there when you play the neck but you know it's there to protect it, the board is a stunning and thick slice of ebony, and the lines and blocks are so very very well done. This is WAY WAY WAY better than American Fender quality All joking aside, it is at the very least the match for most Fender Custom Shop necks I've played (and there've been a few!) Chris
Chris is imo so right about this. When you look at Warmoth neck's they seem very reasonably priced. Then you start to add on the options and suddenly they are expensive. Then you get shipping, import etc paid and jeez it hurts. HOWEVER, the 3 I've had have been absolutely amazing quality and build. And none of those were specified as highly as this one. Thankfully this is fretless, so I'm safe. We all know Chris is a legend to deal with, somebody is going to get an amazing bass with this.
23. Cheers Chris, appreciated. It's on hold for a little while, which is good because now I can stop looking at desmondpot's fabulous gear list Especially Sterling Black Onyx
24. Shame it's 350+ mile round trip for me or I would have been pm'ing you. GLWTS, should never have sold mine.
25.
I agree. Should have been snapped a long time ago. Karl is an absolute Gent. Bought an amazing bass from him 3 years ago. Super trustworthy, great basses, knows his stuff and wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.
Thanks Paul that's really kind of you. Hope things are good.
Burgandy mist'd look awesome with that birdseye board. I have something similar.....
