1. Erm, yup, I have no doubt of that! Although I'm not a fan of rosewood, I know how good a bass this is and I am desperately tempted. I'm guessing from a thread on a "social media site" a certain maple boarded, green burst multi knobbed (oooh err missus) bit of splendidness is heading your way
2. Well done that man! Means I can put the one I have up next week, with a bit less competition
3. Please take this as constructive advice. It's now a bit of a jumbled, slightly confusing thread. Certainly to an old git like me. Might be an idea to let this thread die, get it locked and start a new one, with pictures actually in the thread, rather than links. Lovely looking bass, great price, less common maple board with MOP style inlays, splendid. The only reason I'm not in is that it is typical Fender Japan weighty Ash pushing 11 lbs. Fabulous for tone, but not old shoulders. Good luck, lovely looking bass.
4. Paul, you MIGHT get a mail from a guy called Nicholas from FB. He is a genuine guy that MAY be interested.
5. Lovely bass and I'm tempted, probably like a good few others. Might be an idea to inform folk if it comes with hard case or gig bag as was asked a little earlier. And total cost for bass/case/shipping to mainland UK. GLWTS
6. Thought they were still making these, but had switched from Japan to Mexico back end of 2012? Anyway, regardless, if you are heading back north to family at anytime, might be an idea to bump the ad a few days before, you might be able to meet a buyer on route, or have one come to Birknhare
7.
Only a fool bids before the last 15 seconds of an eBay auction.
Glad I'm a fool. Yet another blinding opinionated statement. Some folk bid earlier on. Put in their max bid, they get it or they don't.
8. Serves me right Congrats on the sale Colin, cheers, Karl.
9. It is indeed a bargain, but there may be a couple of reasons it is still here. Sherwood Green is not everybodies colour. I love it, but I don't like sunburst. Think the main thing, with the greatest respect, is no courier. Whilst I am very tempted by it, I'm not going to do a 400 mile round trip I'm afraid. I'm possibly not the only one. Good luck, it is lovely.
10. Sold and thanks for all the interest folks, cheers, Karl.
11. Erm ,hate to be the bearer of bad news Mark, but today (even in Wigan) is Monday. Have a confused bump
12. Seen this. It's gorgeous. Ash, sod off tempting me, I'm getting sick of the bloody roadworks near your gaff
13.
Very nice - I do like a red bass. Nice to see another Rickresourcer on here as well, LOL!
Ssssshhhh
Neck is clean? (no dings&dongs?)...
It's a very nice clear satin neck with a good rosewood board. The neck does have a few brown patches like you can see behind the second fret. They are part of the wood grain, under the satin and with it being 15 years old, would guess they are unlikely to be a problem, just a natural part of the timber this was cut from. My feedback is linked at the bottom of all my posts. Cheers, Karl.
14. This is the bass Ash had up last week, I took it in part ex against one of mine. Not desperate to sell, but I'm not a fan of Red (except Fiesta) or rosewood boards (except on Road Worn Jazz ). So, it's year 2000, very good condition, couple of little bits on the back, I've shown the worst in the photos. These 1996-2001 series do have decent write ups and quite a few fans. Weight just on 8lb 14oz. Hot Rod Red is not a colour you see every day. Corona made, through body stringing available, graphite strengthening rods in neck. Good low action, plays very well, slightly scruffy but fully useable Stagg hard case included. Will talk trades but please have a look what others of your type of bass have sold for £650 collected from Wigan. Extra £30 insured courier mainland UK. Sorry, no PAINPal due to being robbed 5 years ago. Any questions or non obligatory trial in Wigan. Appalling photos alert. Cheers, Karl. 15. Off topic, Powerbas, might be an idea to put your Thunderbird up for sale here. OZZY138, that is a most excellent classic looking P with great mods and Mark's attention to detail. Sorely tempted, bet it's great to play. Good luck and bump.
16.
Just to torment you I might pm you a pic of latest 70's P
Evil one
Just remembered, I already posted a pic of it over in the Precision porn thread a few weeks back.
Dozy one
17. I'm actually finally getting close to bass nirvana Gary (well, for this week anyway!) I would love a real 70's P, but everytime there's a good one up (usually one of yours ) I've got no loot due to indiscriminate bass buying. MUST stop looking at the purdy pictures. In the very unlikely event of selling this (it is superb, best playing R*** I've had) it won't be on here. Good luck finding one, it's the first I've ever seen in the flesh.
18. 2ND version of the El Dorado Gary, the 1st was the 2050 with an active circuit board. Simplified and back to passive on this one. Made from around mid 92/mid 95. The most famous version was a signature model for some geezer called Glenn Frey They are a touch rare! Very nice bass, bolt on, almost Precision style neck, not as much "top" as the 4000 series but a lovely almost Zepp 11 bottom end. Unlike most 3000's/ Hamburg's which have enough mass for their own gravitational field, at around 9lb this is light and comfortable. Unusual, nice and practical. I'm sure somebody like Rick's Fine '52 could tell more.
19. 1993 Rickenbacker El Dorado 2060
20. Lozz in buying Precision Shocker If it sounds as fantastic as this one, you will be a happy bunny. Bump.
21.
uh oh....... look out folks, Karl's wife will be up for sale next Looks like a good-un George
Thomas, how very dare you! You know very well that she was sent back last time, under Distance Selling Regulations! Doesn't stop me plotting though
22. Amazed this is still here. Japanese Fenders are legendary quality, yet Fender Japan currently does not exist. Logic dictates then that they will probably get harder to find with a probable upsurge in price. So, a bloody good bass that is unlikely to depreciate much if an owner needs to move it on? Added to which Mike is an absolute legend to deal with. Somebody is going to get lucky!
23. Mike was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Decisive, great comms very swift payment. Fully recommended, deal with complete confidence. Thanks for everything Mike and enjoy the jazz, cheers, Karl.
