Help please from experts. Slightly mismatched cabs.
karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks everyone. It's not going to happen due to a lack of interest in my MB cabs on here, and the Facebook dreamers driving me nuts Never mind, seemed like a good idea at the time -
I have two of these for sale, available from Monday. Light, powerful cabs respected by many folk on forums. Both made in Italy. Both 400 watts, 8 ohms, 2 x 10, approx. 15kgs each. Both with tweeters, both with Roqsolid covers, both in excellent condition, a bit over two years old. Will courier but UK only I'm afraid. £325 each, plus £20 UK courier each. Cash on collection or cleared bank transfer please. These were over £660 each, new, plus £40 for each Roqsolid cover. WOULD TRADE with an excellent condition Barefaced S12V or something else neo with different shape, eg Freddies Berg or Rich's Baers. A bit of cash available to put to deal. Any questions, or trial in Wigan. Feedback at bottom of post, cheers, Karl.
Shows you how completely different it can look with a change of scratchplate. I'd personally rather stick needles in my eyes than put anything tortoise shell related on my bass but that's why Heinz give us 57 varieties I'd like to add that a Yamaha BB1025 and Corvette $$ 5 string to the list of possible trades as well. Any basses offered for trade must be in really good condition as well. I don't get on with scratches of any description and I like my gear to be pristine.
Well, I'll bother bumping your ads again pal. Oh, wait a minute....... -

Immaculate Seafoam Green Fender FSR Precision Special - SOLD
karlfer replied to Delberthot's topic in Basses For Sale
For those so inclined, this is what it would look like with tortie plate (although mine is the passive, later model FSR). To buy mine you will need to wait and discuss it with the executor of my estate! Help please from experts. Slightly mismatched cabs.
karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks guys. The reality is the particular 500 watt Markbass head, at gigging volumes, will probably have gain at around 3 o'clock, touch of compression, bass, mid, treb around noon and colour also around 3 o'clock. HOWEVER, Master Volume is unlikely to go past 9 o'clock as I do not like bleeding ears Gain up high because it's sounds wonderful there. My concern was that with two cabs, both 8 ohm, one 350 watts, the other 400 watts, that I was potentially going to cause damage to the speakers in one box. Many thanks Bill Fitzmaurice, I know you have amazing knowledge of this stuff for obvious reasons -
Yeah, but they are top quality valve watts ;-)
Thank you Mr. Rock, very kind. Many years ago I was in the office of the company I worked for at the time. It was in Godalming. I said something and one of the girls said "you're a bit 40 watt". After asking, she explained it meant dim. Never bought her an ice cream again -

Jeez, what kept you all, only 4 replies in the 1st 6 minutes Thanks guys, told you I was a bit 40 watt -
Cab one, 400 watts, 8 ohms Cab two, 350 watts, 8 ohms Both from same manufacture. Both same speaker config, just the updated model is rated at 350 watts rather than 400. Now I'm sure I read somewhere that in this circumstance, one of the cabs will get more juice from the amp, in this case a 500 watt Markbass. Can somebody explain it to me please. Bare in mind I make an average 4 year look like Mensa fodder. Cheers, Karl.

Replacing Berg CN212 with 2x BF Super Compacts... Thoughts?
karlfer replied to goonerjoe's topic in Amps and Cabs
Why would you want 2 BF 8 OHM CABS? If you are using an Orange Bass Terror, do they not still have a 4 ohm/8ohm switch on the back? Switch to 8 ohm, get your 500 watts. Any bigger gigs will be through PA surely? And with the greatest respect to BF fans, I ran a Gen 11 S12V for 18 months, I know roughly how to eq, but on VERY RARE occasions in rare horrible venues, you could not eq out boom. So, they are exceptionally good but are not the solution to all bass ill's. AND DON'T get me started on The Toon, disgrace to the shirt most of them. -
SOLD - Fender Precision Special - PJ - CAR & Maple
karlfer replied to colleya's topic in Basses For Sale
These basses were only made for about 4 years, pretty much between the California Series and the Highway 1 series. They reputedly were the first choice of woods in the Mexican factory. There was a long thread about these, think when quatchmaster?? had one up for sale about 5 years ago. These passive basses are good quality, with that much revered P/J set up and the slimmer jazz neck. Great basses. GLWTS -

Despite only having the two superb violinists on stage, amazing show. Thanks 'Shell, I'll look them up.

Reliced 60th Anniversary Precision USA, Surely Not!!!
karlfer replied to thebrig's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Unfortunately I know the 20 something that has bought this bass. He has been asking me for weeks on end what to buy. Unsolicited mails on Faecesbook etc. Really sad he didn't ask me about this one. He says he paid £750 for it including all fees (passed to him I guess?) He's going to have a real hard time selling it when the time comes. Mind at least he'll stop annoying the tits off me on a nightly basis -
Didn't know where to put this, but just in case anybody is GASsing About 3 years ago, Fender did a limited run of Mexican Precisions and Jazzes in the Antigua finish. All that bought them conceded they were beautifully made. These very rarely come up on the second hand market. Promenade Music (I have no affiliation, just a shopper) have a used Antigua Jazz in! They also have a passive Sea Foam Pearl FSR P/J, same as my wonderful bass. VERY FEW of those ever made it to the UK (possibly less than 10 of each of the black and Sea Foam Pearl). Fantastic basses. Only seen one up for resale in two years. Promenade are a bit pricey, but talk nicely to Gary............... They have an unsold, Italian, Markbass TTE 500. Shop ticket A STAGGERING £1057 . They have it on their website at £729. I had £650 cash in my pocket and if Gary had been in I would have asked the question. Well, it's been gathering dust for at least 16 months
