It's all a bit as discreet says really. I got to the stage where I only wanted to gig my FSR. One gig, a punter came up and said that bass was like an extension of my arm. I chose not to take that as I was a knuckle scraper! Then along came the Road Worn. I'd had an itch to try one EVEN though they are the hated rosewood. Ya know what??? I get upset putting it down . To a great extent, all the others are just to fill the rack in my back room now (cue discreet smut)

Hiya Tom, hope you are ok fella. Get yourself into a local shop in Boro or Newcastle (Sounds Live may have one ) and try out a Dee Dee Ramone Precision. All the right spec and mine is light at just over 8lbs. Alternatively fella, if you can't find one, pay the courier and you can try my new one for a week or two, I know you will treat it right. STUNNING bass that ACG. GLWTS and look after yourself

Many thanks chaps. I've hit the daft problem that I now have three fabulous basses to gig. I've done the Alembic, Rick, Custom Shop, SEI and others, yet these three fabulous, playable, giggable basses are all Mexican Fenders. My Cabronita will also become the same when the new jazz dimension neck arrives from Warmoth (eventually). So, guess I will just have to rotate gigs with them, but tbh, I would happily just use the Road Worn every gig. Yet I do't get on with Rosewood boards

Forgot to update this. Gigged it last weekend. Will do so again this weekend. Good bits. Very light! Lovely 41.6mm nut width, quite shallow neck, very comfortable and satiny feel. Pick up has all the tonal variation you would expect from a P. Does the 'Arry bit particularly well. Very well finished, well set up out of the box, although I've inevitably tweaked it a little. A great looking P, imo. Bad bits. Pick up has good tonal flexibilities, but not as powerful as I would have hoped. Had to crank the amp a touch more than normal. Not that that was a problem. Overall, my humble opinion, a good P bass with that 70's look about it, at a decent price. Eminently giggable anywhere
the amp and cabs will try to produce frequencies even lower than 30hz that you'll never actually hear too, which wastes a lot of power and gets the speakers moving more than they really need to which might be contributing to the farting out... The SFX Thumpinator is supposed to help with this. I've not got mine yet so I can't comment from experience, but it might be worth trying one!
Look forward to comments on the [s]wife[/s] Thumpinator To be honest, the farting out is very rare, just an occasional room, and it's very quickly eq'd out.

Genz-Benz vs Aguilar vs TECAMP - Your help needed!
karlfer replied to GeorgeL94's topic in Amps and Cabs
You are about 40 miles from me in Wigan. If you want to try out a PUMA, (only a 500, but there's only 3Db between them), put your cabs in the car and I'll get the kettle on! -
Thanks guys. My Puma 500 goes through 2 x 8ohm Markbass 210 Travelers. Generally I actually need to cut the bass rotary back to about 11 o'clock the speakers tend to get a little close to farting out. Sometimes I have to cut the lo mids fractionally as well. I use a GRAMMA pad, only use passive basses, finger style, but I can get a little heavy handed. I just got to thinking, the amp's bass rotary is set to 30hz, but the cabs are 40 hz and I didn't know how that would work. Thanks for all the input guys, appreciated. Cheers, Karl.

Casio CTK-3200 for sale, a little over 1 year old. Comes with power lead, songbook and manual. Excellent condition, couple of tiny scrapes that won't photograph. The cheapest new I can find is £139 HOWEVER, they come with headphones and stand. They were that good I chucked them, so this one does not have headphone or stand included, hence much cheapness. Much prefer collection from Wigan but will courier for an extra £10. Payment by cleared bank transfer or cash on collection please. Feedback at bottom of thread. Note to self, stick to 4 strings Cheers, Karl.
Yeah we've been working with the member to try and help resolve the issue. Investigations and police intervention is ongoing. Worth reiterating again the FAQ when buying and selling. Not always possible, but worth bearing these in mind when carrying out a deal. So, the bass rotary on the amp is cut/boost, 15Db around 30 hz. The cab ranges from 42 Hz to 18000. As, by my dim thoughts, the cab doesn't deal with 30 hz, what is actually happening if I cut or boost the bass rotary on my amp ?
Future Friend on YouTube has a real Diamondhead feel to it. Like it.
Thanks very much for that. Spookily the three original members are all Diamond Head fans. They supported them a couple of times in the early 80's.
I went as far as 65% of the original width and it seemed better, too. Any more, and it would become a short-scale bass..! I tried, whilst I was 'at it', to improve the sound quality; a touch of EZMix helps, but there's not much one can do to bring up the bass, unfortunately. There was an improvement, mostly in vocal clarity, but it was never going to rival a 'direct from console' take..!
Thanks Dad, No idea what you are talking about, but I know a man who will

Thanks Ian, PM's replied. In public reply to somebody's comments. It's just over a year old. It's pretty much immaculate. My feedback sort of backs up comments I might make about stuff I sell. It's 21% cheaper than a new one from Thomann and 27% cheaper than a new one from Bass Direct. And I've had 5 enquiries about this amp, yet not a bump from one of them

Thanks chaps. It appears that it was a bit better than I thought. It's only a part time project, next two aren't until May, one with Sacrilege and then the Rourke's Drift rally. Thank God I have the covers band to pay for the GAS I don't have The Limelight went to a good home .

Well I found a short term fix by going to the rectangle, second from right, on the bottom toolbar. Clicking select, then cinema mode. Then clicking the full screen mode. SLIGHTLY less horrifying
I'm pretty sure the video's been uploaded in the wrong aspect ratio - it's too wide.
How can I put this , oh yeah, I know, I LOVE YOU Seriously though, how would we be able to change "the aspect" on the video, as we intend sending it to some promoters and I really don't want to look any more Sumo than I already do.
I can't see a problem maybe a longer strap would help
More a ten bellies rest than arm chamfer then
Music sounds ok tho'
I'm quite surprised to be honest. We kicked our slot off at exactly the same time Newcastle kicked off their second half, a mile away. The monitor output was hopeless, all I could hear was the singists guitar at ear bleed volume. By 20 minutes though, the crowd had come down from the upstairs bar, we were doing my favourite number and I started to enjoy it. Some of the audience were more familiar with the older numbers than I was Thanks all for taking the time and trouble to visit the link
Thats some backline on that stage Karl, loading in/out must take longer than the gigs!
Thankfully somebody else's problem Lozz.
You know the camera adds a few pounds right?
Gawd bless you guv

https://www.youtube....h?v=yomrq_AgWS4 Somebody recorded our (Troyen) Brofest set, the bands first gig for 33 years. I knew I'd put on some weight, but Jeez, I could be protected by Greenpeace The diet starts tomorrow. Edit. AHAH! Apparently it has been downloaded with an incorrect "aspect". I knew I wasn't quite as wide as a Peterbulit truck Whilst the powers that be (drummer) works on it, the short term solution is to open the link, then click onto the rectangle, 2nd from right, on the bottom toolbar. When it opens, click on "cinema" Then click on the "full screen" Not ideal but slightly less of a hippo.

Just over 1 year old, TecAmp Puma 500 (500 watts at 4 ohms, 300 watts at 8 ohms). Made in Germany. Pretty much immaculate. Just thinking about going back to a valve pre amp jobby. Sorry, no trades. Cash on collection from Wigan, or by cleared bank transfer please, sorry no PAINPal. Feedback linked at bottom of post. Any trial in Wigan welcome. Insured UK courier will be an extra £15. If required will send to continent but you will need to organise and pay your own courier. Hopefully link to manual as well, cheers, Karl. Fender Custom Shop - new additions to 2015 range
karlfer replied to Chiliwailer's topic in Bass Guitars
Somebody mention P/J with blocks (yes, I know it's not CS). I know where a black one of these (maple board/blocks/tortie plate) is for sale at a very reasonable price (£465) . The black one is not mine and I'm trying to keep it that way!
