How about a Godin Acoustibass - precision shaped. Piezo and Fender fidelitron pickups. Just over 6 lbs in weight. Like a Fender AE / HMT but better quality, made in Canada. Follow the link to see it for sale. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1
How do you know the Godin is better quality? In what way? May I put it to you that you don't, it's just a sales ploy on your behalf. If you think I'm being a bit snotty, well, apologies, but I get sick and tired of people making statements they can not back up. If you delete your bit of drivel, I will delete my bit of drivel. I've only played 2 Japanese HMT's, one I owned for several years. IMO, the quality was excellent. I'm fine Tom, thanks, fingers crossed for you sir!

Oh great HMT hockey stick headstock GAS back again, cheers Gareth

Tom, perhaps a body made for you like Billy Apple's La Cabronita build? That bass weighs nowt. Or any other build with light swamp ash. A surprisingly light bass is the Fender Japan Blue Flower RI. Big neck, but great basses. Gareth has one up for £600 I believe. Good luck mate, thinking of you. Oh, forgot, my new Dee Dee Ramone is a quite light 8lb 5ozs.

As a guide to Sherwood Green, have a look at the quite new Fender Adam Clayton jazz. Burgundy Mist, personally I prefer the lighter version. Some fabulous pics on Peterbilts Facebook page, including a stunning light mist, maple board, gold scratchplate P Tribute.

Thanks for all the clarifications Sean, good job that man. I came VERY close to the Okume Gold Top last Monday but I just couldn't mentally justify that amount. So, yours is coming back and a reverse headstock, slim jazz profile neck is getting made by those nice chaps at Warmoth. Nearly a Black Dusty for less than half the price (Warmoth neck's are pricey though, with VAT, shipping, import). Back on topic, pretty splendid amp, thanks for that, cheers, Karl.
I couldn't resist Looks like a fun bass mate, glad you're enjoying it

Hiho, bit off thread but get the OBT as well or OBT head and sp212 cab and hey ho let,s go. Love maple necks on a P.
Have a look at what's behind me in my avatar Love the power and simplicity of the Puma 500, but it's the daft price of the Orange that's tempting me back.

RAN FULL TERM, £350 plus. Would have been much more fun if SGC Nanyo had called them Bass Collection Santa Anna
Agree. Nice bass Karl, I`m sure you`ll have some fun with this one, for some reason a Ramones Sig seems to invoke fun rather than seriousnsess.
Many thanks guys, and yes Lozz, there is a certain amount of grin attached with picking it up. The weight really helps that. No gigs this weekend as drummer boy on hol with "kids", so next Friday 1st outing. DESPERATELY trying to avoid putting my PUMA 500 up for sale as this sounded phenomenal in PMT, through an OBT 212 combo. And the OBT heads were on at £359 sell down. So tempting. Anyway, I have sold ALL my expensive basses now because with my playing/where I play, they make not one jot of difference. Even cheeky Evil Dave in PMT said my chord strumming was heavy handed on the bass. YOU'RE A GUITARD namby pamby weed, you can't lift a bass never mind play one

Superb

Many thanks for taking the trouble to do such a great review Sean. I personally find it a bit strange they are saying on one hand they are keeping it simple, yet on the other hand all the above seems more complicated to me. The words bi amping send me scuttling back to my trailer for my banjo. Over the last week I have contemplated selling my Puma 500 to buy one of the OBT at the fabulous £359 they are selling them off at. Made even worse by trialing my Dee Dee Ramone through the 212 combo version. GORGEOUS. The greatest aspect (imo) of the OBT (after pre amp valve changes) was that little switch on the back that gave you 500 watts at 8 ohms or 4 ohms. IE, a one cab solution with 8 ohms at trickier venues. Seems that is no more? Price wise, think the OB1-Kenobi is going out pushing £200 more than the OBT? Wonder why Orange couldn't carry on with both products. Presumably the answer lies in the profit word. Sorry to seem negative Sean, it's a great review and much appreciated, just seems a couple of Orange's decisions are a little cloudy to a dumb muppet like me. Cheers bud (oh, and guess which little La Cabronita is winging her way back to me ). Edited for spelling as usual

Speak to OBBM of these very pages. Dave's feedback http://basschat.co.u...obbms-feedback/ Email him telling you what you want. His leads are amazing quality at very good prices. You can certainly buy stuff at twice the price, that will be nowhere near as good, IME. I have used nothing but OBBM speaker cables for a few years now, and will NEVER use any others. They will probably outlive me! Can't speak highly enough, as a paying, gigging, user. Cheers, Karl.

Thanks timmo, for your kind words and support. Rather humbling.

Blokes of a certain age........... Anyway, the splendid PMT Manchester, yesterday, deliberately mugged by Evil Dave. Right, so it's a tarted up Mexican Precision Standard, a Dee Dee Ramone. The tarted up bits are a booklet with poster , "TV " logo, Dee Dee neckplate and his sig on the back of the headstock. Well, it was a white P, maple board, black plate. After the disappointment over the 'Arry, the first revelation was weight (checked at home later, 8lb 5oz), it's dead light. Pick up was excellent through an Orange Bass Terror 212 combo. Went from lovely smooth motown to 'Arry just with a sweep of the tone knob. Supposed to be just a standard Mex pup, well it's bloody good whatever. The neck is a joy. 1,62inch nut, but definitely slim back to front. Fast smooth gloosy, but feels like satin. Don't know if the fingerboard is rolled but no sharp edges and the fretwork is very good. Neck joint is excellent as is the paintwork. Really well put together Great BBOT bridge, the bass was well set up as it stood. It will get tweaked after every gig until I have everything just right. I had to set the pup last night as it was too slanted to E string, but that's it. So, to me, it looks great, it's very light, it sounds like a damn good P and it plays very well. Only slight niggle is the back of the tuners look a bit cheap. So far they have worked fine (even if I haven't yet taken the plastic off them , or off the scratchplate and pups). A new Mexican P for £656, could have got an excellent used USA for that. But I didn't

SCAM!!!! For me, set all Bumtree ads for email response only. You wouldn't be the first to ring a number texted to you, then find the bill for that call was £30 or more. This one is simpler, they are just after your Paypal account details, to rob you that way. Delete the text.

I've sold my last two unmentionables on there, both of them to BC members.
Yes, why not try the Bass Players Market UK?...Click on my signature below
Thanks Stephen, really kind of you to say so. They are getting a bit carried away wanting to do another album. The amount of time it took for the two gaytartists to do 4 tracks, I doubt I have the life expectancy of another album.

There are some good Facebook pages/groups where you can sell gear free. They have been ok for me, for example I couldn't sell my Thumb here but it went quickly on FB. UK Bass gear for sale trade, Bass market UK etc.

Your research starts here https://www.facebook.com/camdenenterprise

You are looking at a minimum 14 hours driving there and back. Even if backline/kit etc are provided, one vehicle is going to cost you over £150 in fuel. I don't even want to think what it's going to cost the guys from Stornaway, financially or time wise. M74 and down is one thing but.... ferries/planes whatever. I would be doing a lot of research on the venue, Facebook etc. If it seems there are 30 people a night there and they are all punks or whatever... The guys really need to decide if they want to invest this time, money and effort when the possible worst case scenario is nobody there, no pay of any type and the agency don't even bother turning up or talk to you. If you can all afford to do it and all want to do it, despite the drawbacks, go for it. Good luck regardless, cheers, Karl. For what it's worth, I refused a Dutch Festival later this year, in the originals band I'm in. They offered us Euros 500. I worked out it was going to take 3 days out of my life, even complete slumming/one vehicle it was going to cost all of us £150 each. I wasn't popular, but that band is their dream, not mine. I'm just the replacement bass player as the original bailed.

Second time Gareth has shelled out his pocket money on some of my gear. He really is a thoroughly great guy, great comms, instant payment, decisive and an absolute joy to deal with. Deal with utmost confidence. And he's kind to animals and small people apparently In all seriousness, a credit to Basschat, all the best fella and speak soon.

It will do 500 watts at either ohmage setting. The only relevance the cab has is this; If it's an 8 ohm cab and you set the selector at the back for 4 ohms, you won't get much more than half power out of it. The only reason anybody would want to do that is if they had a low wattage cab, say 300 watts. Get a cab of 400 watts plus. If the cab is rated at 4 ohms, select 4 ohms on the head. If the cab is rated at 8 ohms, select 8 ohms on the head.
