I tried the TH 500 through an Agi 112 in Doncaster, as I was really convinced by Walbassist's video. Massively disappointed in the volume with the gear I tried. I had to turn that drive thing a long way up to get real volume. Sad because I didn't like the sounds with the drive right up. I ended up getting the Puma 500 and have gigged with it every week for the last 8 months. Love it. Powerful, simple yet great range. Even a clutz like me can not get a bad sound out of it and the "Taste" control is a great, quick, on the fly tone changer. Still lust for big valvey things though

Just keep an eye on the ads on here. For instance, there is an SWR Goliath 111, 410 at £150, absolute steal. Too far from you, but you may get a result if you make an appeal for help, ie, somebody coming to say Leeds from Surrey for Easter. Not as cheap but excellent bargain, member 4 candle's Markbass 410. 800 watts at 8 ohms, and light weight. I played through this last week, all you would ever need. Top guy to deal with. Buy that, put selector switch to 8 ohms, power up the amp, plug in, sonically give bystanders colonic irrigation.

And if it does do the Elephant Fart, try backing off the EQ. I know with passive basses (especially Ps) I used to need to cut quite a bit on the bass control. And yes, hogwash. Selector switch on the back. Won't do 500 watts with the switch to 4 ohms through an 8 ohm cab.

Not sure if.............this is the right place

What, no OB1-Kenobe -
Ideally cab rated 500 watt plus, but you would REALLY have to be going some to damage a cab rated 400 watts. If it was a 8 ohm cab, rated 400 watts, select 8 ohms on the back and the head will produce about 275 watts, but you don't need to do that unless you are very nervous. These things are loud and quite capable of demolishing walls so just treat with care. A 400 watt cab, either 8 or 4 ohm will do very nicely. Enjoy.

Terrific amp. It will have a 4/8 ohm selector switch on the back. Switch to 8 ohms with 1 x 8 ohm rated cab. Switch to 4 ohms with 2 x 8 ohm rated cab or 1 x 4 ohm rated cab. That way you will get your full 500 watts capability at all times. Try to make sure though, that you have at least 400 watts of speaker cab, for safety. I don't know if they are still the same, but originally, turn the gain past 9 0'clock and break up started. A lot of us changed the original valves to get more usuable gain. There is a great pinned post by Happy Jack in the Amps Technical section. Enjoy.

Sorry, away with work yesterday, catching up today. Many thanks for the kind comments guys, very humbling. All pm's replied sent (I think). Ebenezer, despite these having a slightly smaller jazz body, they are not daft light. This one shows 9lb 3ozs on scales. Don't know why but I can't get a link to Lakland to work, but if you google it, then go to DJ PAGE (PRODUCTS DROPDOWN) the full Skyline spec for this model is there. Many thanks all, cheers, Karl.

For me, it's a shame WPD has gone. He could be a touch abrasive if you took it the wrong way, but on many occasions he came across as having a heart of gold. IF he should have been banned, it should have been for his photo in speedos There are more antagonistic folk here than him, but that's just my opinion. Guess most of us can be a pita at times. Mods, thankless task, all of the people all of the time.

Lakland DJ 4,Korean, 2007, before they switched to Indonesia. £650. Based in Wigan but happy to courier UK at buyers cost (about £25 fully insured). Couple of little nicks on headstock, one near rear straplock, which I was going to cover with nail varnish, but never got round to. Rarer maple fretboard. I may well trade, with cash either way as the bass I was after won't be going ahead. Payment by cash on collection, cleared cheque or bank transfer. Cheers, Karl. Many thanks for all that Martin, really kind but Dover IS just a tad of a trek You certainly appear to be the first known person to buy one. Don't know what the beef is with the Hammers to be honest. This is possibly 'Arry's most iconic bass. As much as I would love the stripes to be black and white and the badge to be the Toon, it would not then be a replica of one of my most revered basses. So, instead of slagging it off and raining on somebody's new bass day, perhaps keep it to yourself and move quietly on, OR, I will take a note of your name and wait for your NBD thread, mwh hah haaaaa
Isn't it delicious when someone criticizes the build quality and price of a product and the overzealous people that bought the shoddy product, and can't admit it, *prove* its greatness by criticizing the person that criticized the product.
Such a harsh response to a simple question. Why?
If it's any of your business.... The thread (I guess) was set up as a celebration of anticipation. It wasn't set up for somebody to derail with the usual monthly opinionated bollocks of "All Mex are sh*te". It's unnecessary trolling. He could have deleted his loaded question, chose not to, and invited what you would call a harsh response. Your questioning of me is also a derail. PM me if you have anything to say. Karl.
I was going to say something about this (knowing of your proclivities) but didn't want you to think I was doing so just because I don't particularly like the bass!
