1.
Thanks for the reply, I think I'll have to persuade the OH that a Thunderbird is not the best of ideas given the health issues. This thread has given me food for thought. I love the idea of the Thunderbird but it looks like I may have to be a bit more practical. I think a visit to PMT Manchester will be the next more and see what bass I can realistically cope with. Meanwhile, my Bass Collection SB310 will be getting the attention it deserves. Thanks for all the input guys.
Well if you are in Manchester tomorrow pop over to the Flying Shuttle in Bury tomorrow night and have a go on my Bleached Blonde Thumb. 38mm nut, very light weight and up for sale. Genuine offer even if it is a shameless plug Seriously though, good luck with your search.
2.
A slim neck is the way to go I think, the T-bird seems to have one. The US P-bass Deluxe has a J width neck as would fit the bill. I'm on weekly injections for the RA and they have made a hell of a difference. A couple of years ago, I didn't think I would ever be able to play again so there is hope. Good luck with your playing.
Careful with that Bassman Sam, some series of the US Deluxe had jazz profile necks but fairly sure the current ones are 41.3 mm nut not 38mm.
3. Quite a few of his ads stated clay dots, mine certainly seem to be. If I don't sell my Warwick in the next few weeks I might have to sell my Limelight as well.
4.
Lozz, you are spot on here. The famous neck dive on a T-bird may just be too much for my RA, PMT Manchester will be my next port of call to see what works for me.
Keep ya mitts off that Gold One. I know I would had it but it just looks so Glam Metal
5. My nose is big but even mine won't reach Aberdeen. Now, if you could pop down to Stonehaven I'm in with a chance
6. You really do have to try sneak a Tbird trial. I bought a Yank one in the late 90's after years of lusting. I absolutely hated the neck on it, and having to hold the thing up as well as fret with my left hand. Poor action that caused a fight with intonation and that neck just felt horrible. My 84 Gibbo Explorer was a completely different, fabulous animal that I should never have sold. My short ownership of a Tbird certainly cured my GAS for one though
7.
Let's say you could exactly copy the Heinz beans recipe, cook it yourself and can it - would it be right to put the Heinz beans label on the can? I can only speak for myself but I'd be so damn proud of myself that it'd be labelled as neepheid's super awesome mega baked beans, you can bet on that If you're comfortable with passing off a replica/tribute (however accurate and well made) as the genuine article, that's your call. I'm not, so I don't and I won't.
I am and I will. That's the thing with these conversations though isn't it, yay and nay sayers and frankly unlikely much more than a few will change their mind
8. You might find that some folk on Basschat live close to you. You might want to put up your area and ask if anybody, relatively close to you, has any of those basses and would they let you come and try them. I notice you are still in education, so you might like to take mum, dad or big brother with you. Most bassists will be happy to encourage new folk "into the light". Good luck and enjoy the journey. Karl.
9. Could I afford a 1963 Fender jazz, Sea foam Green with matching headstock? No (could I ever find one?). Could I afford a tribute bass by Mark to the above spec. Yes. Did I put a Fender decal on the front? Yes. Why? Cos I wanted to and where I gig a lot less than one in 100 make comments about anything bass related. Do I feel guilty about it? Not on your nelly. It's feel, sound, looks and desire by me, for what I want to gig with. And I gotta tell ya, I got lucky with the tribute bass Mark made for me.
10. Stunning , great pup combination! Bump
11. For God's sake Nick, give it a rest Fabulous bass. GLWTS
12. Naff off taunting me with that Dolphin Pro 11 Martyn
13. Cracking basses, cracking blokie, GLWTS Les. Bump.
14. Fabulous bass. Have a bump.
15.
Unfortunately the over-inflated price of concert tickets is the cost of not wanting to pay for recorded music any more.
Bang on. We have a cd coming out in January and had a conversation about exactly this on Wed night. I remember queuing for nearly 36 hours, outside Newcastle City Hall for Zep tickets. I still have a ticket, price £1, for Floyd at City Hall. I just wont go to big gigs anymore. We have techno progress
16. One of the reasons you have so much interest Cliff is that you have done an excellent advert. Often, 70's basses up, no photos of insides. Well, I reckon people will be happier to shell out if there are good provenential photos. Like yours. So, nice one, GLWTS
17.
Respect to you sir, may the best man win LOL
And to you Mr SpikeBass Often one of the frustrations when you are selling something, is people pm you, but don't bump your ad. You both pm'd and bumped, well done that man!
18. Best I could do is my Thumb (link below) and £250. I could have pm'd that, but at least the competition know what they are up against Bump.
19. Really sorry to hear that, will keep an eye on Gumtree just in case.

AV62RI American Vintage 1962 Re Issue
21. Damn it somebody buy it before I do something daft (again!). Or buy my Thumb so I WILL do something daft again GLWTS
22.
I just take spare pants.
Flash git
I accept that most of us could probably rectify most of the commonest problems we're likely to encounter, but personally speaking, I wouldn't want to be breaking out the soldering iron in the middle of the set. The whole point of having a back up is unplugging the duffer and picking up the back-up without breaking stride. I don't want to be stopping things for even as long as it takes to wind a new string on.
Nail, head!
23.
Thanks all, I am only really concerned about the fit of a different neck, I would not want any gaps between body and neck at the body pocket which could arise from tolerance differences between the Jazz and Precision, at the same time I would not want to buy a neck that is too tight for the pocket, it would also need to be a Deluxe USA Jazz neck to keep the Deluxe spec of my bass .
If you need to keep the spec of your bass original, you will need to keep the original neck, because if you sell it people may consider it a bitsa, as in non production model .

Pedant bump. Is it not an AV62RI?
25. There are some things it can be wise to put on your advert, like, 1. Whether you will courier. 2. The area you live, eg, London, Liverpool etc. 3. If you will consider trades. You will probably get one or two more folk interested, as, fickle as we are, if those details are not readily available, some may be uncomfortable sending PM's. GLWTS
