1.
Just don't turn it past 9 o'clock then!
I changed the valves Anyway, long gone. I couldn't get it to sound how I wanted it to, at too many venues.
2. Why is this still here?
3. Carvin's no good to you Chris, only 300 watt at 8 ohms. I don't really know of many that pump out big at 8 ohms, even the modern stuff. Good luck.
4.
A motorised gramma pad?
Oooh, we like that thought don't we my precioussssss
5. BUY MY CARVIN (shameless plug over). I did actually try a TH500 last week (as my Carvin had been sold, then the FEEBayer failed to turn up yesterday ). The TH500 sounded wonderful but it was only through an Aguilar 1 x 12 which I assume was 8 ohms. I had to crank the master and gain both to about 3 0'clock to get anywhere near gigging volume. The Carvin rarely goes much past 9 o'clock on either, so it put big doubts in my mind about gigging the TH, so LUCKILY as it turned out, I didn't buy it. The Orange Terror 500 is not the most versatile BUT!!!! it has a 40hm/8ohm switch on the back, so you can use it fully at 8ohms! If you get one, change the pre amp valves, IMO, the gain with the original tubes just sounds horrible after about 9 0.clock. Good luck, Chris, we have so much choice now
6.
Any photos yet? Really interested in this
This ^^^ Plus a statement of whether trades will be considered.
7.
Dammit man, I won't do this again! I have enough scars from the last bass war
My nerves will never be the same. Quiet Kevsy, you are getting bumps
8.
I'm tempted to offer a trade too..I'm after a Stingray unfortunately could be tempted by this though...
Back off JBF, I was here first
9. Argh, these critters are amazing. Don't suppose any trades? Especially of the £500 to you, plus my La Cabronita Porazzo Tribute? Had to ask and good luck anyway.
10. Many thanks for that Sean, much better than my windbag ramblings.
11. Thanks Raslee, appreciated. This head was supposedly bought last Wednesday by a FEEBayer. I have waited in all day, it's now 3 hours past his arrival time, he ain't answering texts/phone/email, so I think I can assume the worst . So, Now reduced to £300 collected from Wigan, £315 insured courier mainland UK. Anything less than that I might as well just keep it as back up. Happy to listen to possible trades though. Cheers, Mr. Pigged Off, Wigan. PS, in better condition than many demo heads I have seen.
12. Very nice bass. The one I had was "the best made bass i have ever seen", quote, my luthier, Richie Tomson. Usually a man of few words.
13.
Blimey....bargain, strangely and strongly attracted to this. I blooming' love it. Agreed on times being hard - I've had a few up on here recently and not sold. So many amazing basses at amazing prices.
So true, Just wish your Infinity was a 4. See ya soon fella.
14. There are a couple of articles, pinned somewhere. Best thing I find is upload your photos to Photobucket, then, open your photo up on there. When you do that , there are 4 rectangular boxes to the right of the chosen photo. Click on the bottom one of the 4 rectangular boxes, it will say copied. Then paste the photo into your advert. Repeat with other photos. Good luck. EDIT, found one of the how to's, there ya go Importing a photo to Basschat
15.
Carvin are "Absolutely Stonkin Amps". Drew at Manchester Bass Lounge has a 2nd Hand BX500 For Sale at £240, which is a steal. Virtually identical to Karl's BX700 except it doesn't go down to 2 Ohms. That coupled to a decent Cab would give you everything you need, and more.
And the 500 doesn't have the red backlighting, which is very handy on a dark stage. And the 500 isn't quite as powerful at 4 ohms, although the reality is only a couple of db.
16. Sod it, cash price reduced to £700 collected , £730 couriered mainland UK, until I decide whether to get a new neck. TRADE valuation stays the same. Me reducing something, times ARE hard , I can make Scots and Yorkshiremen look generous* * Light hearted comment, no offense intended
17.
A lot of bass players are looking for more than just volume now. They want the sound AND volume and winding something up as loud as poss to get thru a mix... with little or no ability to shape that sound as you are maxxed up is why people look at 350w in 8 type amps. If gtrs are willing to drive smaller combos hard, ...and even old Boogies etc got very loud, then that bodes well for the band because they are looking and thinking about the band sound rather than their own sound and everyone else having to fit with it...or not, as it invaribly turned out
This.
18. Welcome to Basschat Bassmanheath. Great gear but , just to give you some advice, folk aren't going to spend £1400 based on your advert. Follows a link to my recent advert (it's getting picked up tomorrow). Carvin BX700 head, switchable valve or ss pre amp, 700w@2ohms, 550 watt@4ohms. Mine is not a perfect ad, but hopefully it will give you an idea of what the buying public look at. Good luck with your sale.
19. Carvin BX700 Bass Amp Overview - YouTube CARVIN BX700 & 4-10 CAB ... WOW !! | TalkBass.com OK, mine is pretty much sold, getting picked up tomorrow, but there are less well know alternatives to MB, TC etc. Only reason mine is getting sold is because I stack my new cabs horizontally and the head overhangs a couple of inches each side. Hey, each to their own And you will NEVER have volume issues, it has far more headroom than the Tone Hammer 500 I tried the other day.
20. I have had some questions regarding this neck. Warmoth make quality Fender spec necks. This is quartersawn with carbon strengthening rods, custom shop spec. Having played a few Custom Shop basses, the components and build on this bass are as good as any of the Custom Shop basses I've played. But I would say that wouldn't I The deep C profile is found on the Steve Harris, Sting and Mike Dirnt artist series Fenders, and some Custom Shop 50's basses. So the "deep C " profile is not exactly unheard of
21.
We have so many incredible British luthiers, Drew sees them as being unsung and undercredited (sites like Basschat & Talkbass being the exception) and wants to promote them to the wider bass playing audience. MBL is (GBBL will be also) a dealer for non-British brands (Sandberg, Tokai, G&L, Markbass, Gallien-Krueger, PJB) as new products and the pre-owned basses that come in will not be limited to just British builders. It'll be very similar to MBL as it exists now and Drew's customer service certainly won't change - it's just the focus is quality British stock and craftsmanship. Hope that clears things up a bit! Karlfer - I'm responsible for updating the MBL website, and I've just done the rebrand and website for The Great British Bass Lounge too. Everything on the site is usually as the stock is in the Bass Lounge. There are some basses that have been there for a while simply because they've not been sold yet. I do cock up every now and again and leave the odd one or two on by mistake but 99% of the time the website is an accurate representation of the Bass Lounge stock. Apologies if it appears otherwise. Feel free to message me if you'd like any more info. Cheers. Tom
Thanks for explaining that Tom. Certain other bass retailers have stuff on their site that is long gone. Whenever I go onto your site the first one I find is an Aria fretless from November last year, so I just assumed I was not finding the up to date site. So, if that's the case, I'd best think about reducing my La Cabronita so I can book time to come and try one of the Sterlings Good luck, I think I may be booking some time soon, and thanks again for explaining.
22.
Take your bass to a shop that has the Terror 500 & any of the other amps that you fancy & try them out. Try different cabs out whilst you're there.
Oh that it was that easy now
23.
The point when you stick something on hold for a month so someone (new basschatter) can get the last wee bit together .... And at end of month they eventually tell you they bought something else that cost twice as much type bump
So frustrating. Hope this goes for you soon, I understand from all the reviews I have read this is an amazing piece of kit. New, very expensive, because of components etc. Sadly I find an Orange Bass Terror technically terrifying GLWTS somebody will get very happy.
24. Wow, that USA P's a bit tidy Bump.
