2.
Hello there all, The Bat Bass is indeed mine - I've listed it on here too - eBay removed the listing because Fender complained it was counterfeit. Hopefully I've remedied that now, along with ensuring that he is now comfortable with his sexuality now Bassassin. It's always struck me as a great way to personalise a bass, but appreciate it may not be to everyone's taste . . .
You tell 'em Tim I particularly love the bat sign on the scratch plate. Can you do one for me please, just all photos of Amanda Righetti A change in the Dog and Duck from sunburst!
 3.
Apparently very rare! http://www.ebay.com/...=item3f37cb7d83
Ya don't say
 4.
Karlfer - nice to hear from you - that EQ pedal has done wonders for Mrs TimAl's loathing of bass through the kitchen ceiling during practice! Commissions are possible - but really I see it as an 'ad hoc' thing - whenever I come across a bass that is suitable AND reasonably priced I'll go to town - I think a Viz one would be rather cool, plus perhaps some brand of strong alcoholic beverage - but early days. Agreed about paper bag, may have to rethink headstock logo & change it to 'Faker' . . .
I was actually thinking discreet would want a Razzle version
 5. Tim I think you need to start taking commissions for these jobs Mind, if discreet approaches, you may have to send it in a brown paper bag GLWTS, great job.
 6.
If I was to have one it would be a Burgundy Mist P Bass with the biggest chunkiest neck option available with a maple fingerboard & probably a black scratch plate.
Try gold anodised plate with that. Saw one with that spec. POODLES PRIVATES!
 7.
Where are you located?
At it say's in his first post, Edinburgh
 8. Did this sell bump?
 9. A bass of this (legendary ) quality at this price? Am I missing something? Why on earth is it still here? GLWTS, stunning.
 10. The irony is Andy, the last no show, the one who's wife said he couldn't have it, mentioned it to his mate in the pub on Sunday night. Now his mate is the new owner . The same new owner that had contemplated the Hot Rod for sale in Glasgow at £1100. The new owner texted me last night and he loves it, so, all's well....................
 11. Thanks Tom. Yup, been messed around quite a bit on here of late, and not just with people buying this bass and then bottling out! It happens I guess, but two selling and one buying cancellation in two weeks is frustrating. Annnndddd breathe.......
 12.
Rather like that actually. Wonder if they do it left handed?
Fender HMT, Fender Japan from about 1990 to 1993. There were 2 versions, the one I'm considering has a kinda Washburn hockey stick headstock. Rare in right hand, don't even know if they did a leftie.
 13. It's not this bass. There was a black one for sale on FEEBay, only 30 mile from me.
 14. Wow. What's the nut width please? Weight? Is a hard case included? Will you courier at buyers expense?
 15. Thanks for the reply BOD2. None of the bridge moves unfortunately. Having looked at you link (many thanks) my brain is fried, think I'll give the bass a miss Cheers, Karl.
 16. Thanks Olly. The 3rd buyer actually turned up so it's gone now. Thanks for all the interest.
 17. Help please, anybody know how to get the intonation done with one of these bridges? Thanks in eager anticipation, Karl. 18. Harumph. TWO Lake Placid Blue and no Burgundy Mist? You Burgundy Mistist you
 19.
It does bug me, but I'm already meeting the school bike inside the broom cupboard at 4pm...
The two timing bint. At least I'm, er, in before you at 3.30
 20.
Still thinking about it. Guess I may need to get a move on! Not owned a Jazz before. I tried a new USA Standard on Saturday in a shop which was quite nice although still too bright for me and the action was too high. How does this compare in your opinion? Please don't pull the ad for a couple of days at least. Thanks.
Shops often do not set up new basses that are for sale. Even very expensive ones. Certainly costs them quite a bit in lost business in my personal experience. Bright? Could be new strings, amp, lots of things. Flats, older strings, foam dampeners will soon put a stop to that. Action, well, MOST used basses come quite well set up. Even if they don't, the technical section of Basschat is your friend. Even I learned how to set basses up from here, and I'm 1400 years old. Well, I feel it this morning Bump.
 21.
I agree re sound. I am curious about your bass so I went on YT. I could only find two demos. One guy had amazing tone. The other rubbish. I am actually looking to replicate the mid range of an old early 70s Musicmaster I bought when I was a kid but with more punch and obviously with a longer scale neck. I have a number of different basses which I may sell soon but nothing I have at least has that vintage sound.
This is one of the reasons everything is so subjective. Your early 70's Musicmaster would have been at a stage where the pups, neck, pots, strings etc were all worn in to some extent. Add to that the amp, cab that you used them with would have been at there own wearing in stage. Your technique may very well have changed dramatically since those early days. To go back to that moment in time and replicate everything as YOU REMEMBER it is going to be very difficult. People think I'm being a dick when I say I'm not prepared to spend money on recording gear, and learn how to do sound clips. Fair enough. I only play live. My basses sound like me live. Or the inflections I put on it. Anybody else uses my gear (VERY rare, I'm psychotic about looking after it) they don't sound like me, they sound like them. There are so many variables. For example, people buy a Chris Squires Rick to sound like him. They won't without his type of double amplification, effects units but most importantly his technique. To me, you decide what kind of bass should make the kind of sound you are after, then take it from there. My basses can all do passable JPJ, Steve Harris, Chris Squires impersonations. Passable, not perfect. Good enough for all the gigs I do. Sadly, I'm a magpie gear whore fully egged on by the for sale section here. Truth be told, the bass I gigged with for twenty plus year before Basschat should never have been sold to Gunsfreddy! Good luck in your search.
 22.
They told me it 'might' be available in July when I called them before. I subsequently called Wunjo who called Fender for me. Fender confirmed there wouldn't be any more coming to the UK
Certainly not quotable as fact but I think I read somewhere that the initial run of these, and the black ones were made for The Guitar Store in the states. Apparently Fender decided whilst they were at it they might as well make another 100 of each for the rest of the world. DO NOT take this as anything more than anecdotal By the way, last week, Promenade Music in Morecambe still had one of the original Sea Foam Green ACTIVE version of this bass in stock. That is the 2012 ACTIVE version which was definitely made in greater numbers. Just in case anybody was looking.
 23.
At the moment it is still collection only but I may have to reconsider my options if it doesn't sell very soon.
May one remind you that the first unsubtle hint regarding buying if couriered was made by my humble self on May 28th Or put another way, officially requesting first dibs please, if you do decide to courier. Merky buckets. Bump.
 24. Forgot about this thread. I've had one since mid Feb. Excellent P/J with jazz neck, quite light, easy to work on with headstock trussrod access and BadA** bridge. Nice noiseless jazz pup, well balanced with the P. Compared to my 2000 US Hot Rod, the pick ups are a little quieter. But my amp has a gain and volume control . In my opinion a well made and thought out gigging bass. Especially with a custom tort plate
