1. Lovely bass, I've been tempted by it on FEEBay on and off for quite a while. If somebody hit the BIN on FEEBay, and paid by PAINPal, as sellers MUST offer, the final sales fees would be £87.10 by my reckoning. Nice bass and good luck with the sale. Bump.
 2.
If it's a dual pup 4 or 5 string in top condition then £999 is reasonable. They are £1500-1800 now.
Old argument though, you put them out at you want, but they will sell at what the public want. Too many folk don't do their research on what products are ACTUALLY selling at. It's a 4 string. There's a five on BC that's been up for months at £750 and not sold. Virtually all the Bongo's that have SOLD on here in the last year or so have gone for £650/£700. There are 2 on FEEBay at around £1000 that have been advertised for months, and not sold. It doesn't matter a toss how much they are new now, but this is an old argument. I like the look of Bongo's, a white one would look fabulous. If the guy on the Wirral had his 2004 Desert Gold out at £750 I'd be on the way in the car now.
 3. What's the weight on this one please? The Japan basses often seem to be quite heavy. I know the Mexican Geddy I had briefly last year, was considerably lighter than the two Japanese Geddy's I had before it. The Mexican Geddy I had was probably all in all slightly better than the Japanese ones I had, IMO. The finish on the Mex Geddy was superb. So, if they can do it with Geddys........................ GLWTS.
 4. There is a STUNNING Desert Gold one for sale on the Wirral, through UK Bass Gear North West on Faecesbook, chap called Geoff Davies. Unfortunately he wants £999 for it, whilst quickly looking on here in the for sale they are consistently going for £650/£700. White would be something VERY nice indeed, but thing is JBF, you would be looking for another one the week after you got it I really do think you have terminal GAS fella! Enjoy
 5. Whilst I have had a very tempting offer of a trade for my GK MB500 (Streamliner 600) I am thinking strongly about holding out for a cash sale so I can knock on your door Mr. Homer. I keep coming back to this ad. Decisions decisions Good luck regardless, Karl.
 6. Thanks guys, appreciated even though I'm more confused than ever. I'm only confused when I'm awake. Discreet, re your tubes, have you ever considered being an honorary Yorkshireman?
 7.
'74 top, '73 bottom.
That 4000 is amazing!
 8. Help required folks. I've had an offer of a Streamliner 600 in exchange for my GK MB500. Not what I was after (ie, folding stuff) but worth considering. The Streamliner has all the mid select stuff which always confuses me, but the big questions for me are these. The pre amp has 3 valves in it. If changed, will they need re-biasing? Length of string, I know, but how often would the experts REASONABLY expect to have to change the pre amp valves, eg every year/two years/century etc? As I understand it pre amp valves rarely use anything but a tiny proportion of their capabilities, however, changing valves frequently is not somewhere I really want to go. Hence my liking of what I have always known as tranny amps. Thanks in advance for the good advice (and the inevitable daftness which I love ) that I know you guys will provide. Cheers, Karl.
 9. Fairly sure these were getting great reviews in our Gear> Bass guitars section, worth a look. Dave is a great bloke so deal with that there confidence. Bump and GLWTS
 10. Somebody is gonna get lucky. After I missed out on this last Tues, I got a R*** on Thurs in a fit of sulks . Should have waited shouldn't I .
 11.
Just the work on my 4001 as is detailed elsewhere here. It's been with a luthier for a couple of weeks now. Was hoping to get it back this weekend, but it does not look like it's happening . Soon tho
That's luthiers for you
 12.
So very tempted by this. Growly and grunty as I imagine? Compared to the OTB, less valvey but suitably angry when pushed? I like these as they have a lot of girth and power especially in the lows but nice spank in the high mids I know you have fab (and similar to me, shocker! haha!) taste, and I've been looking into getting one of these. Just need to scrape the money together... Either way, bumpo for a top gent!
Thanks Adam. I've been holding off a reply to answer a pm question, ie apparently these have a hiss on the DI output. Well, I've never noticed one so we DI'd the amp last night just to test, as I very rarely use the DI. Guitarses, drummer and my muppet self listened intently for a hiss. I jiggled the EQ section, especially with the treble right up, no hiss. In terms of sound, I only look for what I want out of it. Rolling the bass almost completely off at the amp, contour full on and boosting the low mids a good bit gets the Precision going nicely in Bad Co mode with the tone rolled off on the guitar. Put the tone right up on the guitar and it is in to Steve Harris areas. With the jazz, I find slight boost on bass on the amp, the rest pretty much flat, gives you from JPJ to Jaco by using volume and tone rotaries on the bass itself. I very rarely use the amp and cab at home, mainly because they are in the small back bedroom. Any volume reduces the amount of plaster left in place. I set it up to try a new purchase on Thurs night (Jetglo unmentionable) and started with completely"flat" eq. That bass sounded absolutely STUNNING, even in the little back bedroom. Look after yourself fella, all the very best.
Bargainous!
Many thanks for the comment Merton. When I do sell something, I always take into account condition and try to arrive at a price that is fair to both buyer and seller. Cheers, Karl.
 13. Preston nick let you two out has it Annnnd......... bump.
 14.
I've tidied this thread up a bit keep to it on topic.
Understood, but it did take out the funny bits, especially yours
 15.
Until some bright spark realises Genz were really onto a brilliant product....nothing. The GK amps are very loud but I don't personally think they are as well made. Carvin amps are an option but not the same size/tone.
Not a sales plug as I'm not hugely bothered about selling it, but, regards GK. In my ad you will see the condition of my GK MB 500 after about 50 Dog and Duck and a couple of festival gigs. Mind you, it has always been protected in transit, in a laptop bag . The thought of the 800 version scares me silly, and that's against kick drum, toms, snare, two loud guitarists, ALL through PA at every gig. Me through the PA at two festivals .
 16. One thing that did get my goat (no discreet, that is not ANY kind of sexual innuendo) was that going into PMT there were walls of Sonic Blue, Sea Foam Green, Burgundy Mist and Shell Pink Fenders. ALL BLOODY 6 strings Now I know it's not PMT's fault, it's Fender fawning to the guitarses and ignoring the needs of us shrinking violet bass players. But it hurts, my preciooouuss, it hurts.
 17.
On Planet 1977, when £86 was a lot of money. A lot. Jon.
Yup, in 1980 I spent £100 on a second hand bass. An immaculate, 1973, Sonic Blue Fender Telecaster. I sold it 15 years later for £400. Wish I'd kept it
 18.
They'll settle in. You'll be comfortable with them again before the first decade is even up!
Ambitious.
 19.
Hi do you still have the case candy.
As above. Also, any chance of a close up photo of the front of the head stock please? There is a similar CS up on here and it looks like the decal has been stuck on as an afterthought, which is a bit disapointing for the sort of money these are going for. Cheers, Karl.
 20.
Thus proving the point that a good shop will allow you to play instruments, give you great advice... ...and then sell you something you didn't come for. I'm really glad you like it, looks like the business. Let's hear some noise from it when you've got over the shock.
21.
Also known as, 'Dumm.... dum dum dum dum-dum dum-dum-dum bongggg....'
22. Somebody mentioned sales. I went in to see if the had any Custom Shop (60 stacker in particular) jazzes in. Played it, it's a good un. Don't mention the war. I did once, but I think I got away with it
 23. Well slap me silly, I didn't know they made three knobs in 1960, thought they were stackers Very nice, look forward to some better photos (says David Bloody Bailey himself ).
