I've just had a look on your web site Rick and it is far from amateur. Some stunning basses there, well done to you for sourcing such wonderful pieces of modern music history. Bet none of that little lot came overnight!

Plenty of folk work hard and can't afford them, Then He Who Shall Not Be Named tries to stop that avenue of enjoyment for the less well off. For what it's worth, Ricks are what they are, good and bad. There is a bass that recently came up which is about 30 years old. It appears to have a neck/board issue and certainly has a paint issue. The last two fakers I have had have both been older, both been superbly put together and have both fared much better regarding those issues. Good and bad. Hall's attitude means I will never have another real one.

essexbasscat, you could have written your experiences for mine. God bless what you did for so many Bert.

3 of us work together beautifully. We have one guitard "not playing that song, not doing that gig, can't make it tonight". He shied off again on Wednesday night, the three of us got together to work on a new number and it went very well, vocals shared, me keeping to just driving the new number. We then decided to try Iron Maiden's Afraid To Shoot Strangers as a three piece and it really kicked . Am I Evil next methinks. I'm 54 and growing old gracefully until gig nights . Don't lose all the work you have done. A lot of modern life is about managing change, so do just that. You have all the skills and determination needed. Good luck.

OK, so why on earth would I check my facts before banging my gums . Apologies Lawrence, having checked some old photo's, the Badass is original, and the rotary nearest the neck was, in for active, out for passive. The only difference I can see from when I had it commissioned is it had 4 chrome rotaries, not 3 black plastic Jazz, 1 chrome. As our younger brethren appear to say, My Bad . Fantastic bass. Karl.

I've had a few real and some quality fakers (off to the tower with him) over the years. When I was younger they worked fine, as I played with a pick. Nowadays I just use fingers and any form of Rick just doesn't feel right to me, if not played with a pick. Weird and psycho cobblers but there you have it. As has been said before horses for courses, good one and bad ones. Shame some of us just have to keep trading to the Holy Grail

[quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1334597129' post='1618293'] I had one of these.. it was gorgeous, and weight just short of nothing. I wish I'd hung on to it. I have just noticed this ad. This bass was made for me by Martin thoughout the summer of 2001, arriving in the November of that year. It was passive with a normal BBOT bridge, so the Badass and pre amp have been added since I sold it to Lawrence in 2009. When I commissioned this bass I had a superb job paying £50k+ PA and it was a lifetime treat to myself. That job went with an aggressive takeover, "We have our own area management sonny, shut the door on your way out". I sold it to Lawrence for £800 as I could get no interest in it at the time and financially we were in sh*t street. He was the only buyer, I was desperate. Now me and the Mrs have a master franchise with a greetings card company, working with 10 (11 from next week) franchisees. Life is better, but I will always miss this bass. The point of this sob story? Buy this bass, IT IS PHENOMINAL!
