1.
Sir, I see you are interested in my bass, you are clearly a man of style and taste. Perhaps I could interest you in this exclusive item.....
Don't let my mother see this
2. £12k, can buy a job for life for that. Wouldn't use it on any bass. Frankly a Jedson was wasted on me
3. Aha
It's nice that he can quote such positive feedback from the ebayer called "skyshook".
4. Skyshook is one of his feedbackers, I've seen that moniker somewhere lately
5.
PM'd back Barry. I'm afraid I don't think is the sort of cab you are after
Bump for a credit to Basschat's honesty.
6. OK, I absolutely adore the sound of this amp, but if you look at the photos in the 1st post, I cant live with the amp overhanging. Sad but true . My initial thought was sell the amp. That is still an option. I am also now thinking sell both cabs, please see seperate post. Cheers, Karl.
7. I had one of the original ABM 300's and sold it a few years ago when I was skint. Best amp I've ever had in 35 years of on/off gigging. Rock solid, reliable, great tonal variation. I like old school (think JPJ, Zep 11), not surprisingly. They do that very well. Equally, my current ABM Klystron sounds superb when I come to do Billy Sheehan hammers, pulls, trips, harmonics, chords (just a pity it doesn't fit on my mini cabs .
8. Brilliant, well done Rob. I'm one who is delighted to still be able to play the pub gigs at my age. What you have achieved is amazing and you're gonna have a blast. Jealous to death but gives truth to the "don't stop believing" Well done again. Karl.
9.
For a gigging bassist, I`d suggest a third option: Good quality bass, decent backup bass, good quality high wattage amp.
Hear hear, well said that man!
10. Sorry to hear it Clarky, I would guess as being one of the well liked characters on here, you are probably that in the real world. Add that to DB, EB skills and gigging experience, you won't be out of it for long. You will obviously be an asset to many bands. Everyone is giving advice and support, but for me, speak to contacts, do some dep work, keep an eye out for what is happening and choose what you want to do, when you want to do it. You'll be fine dood!!
11. All PM's replied to, one still being thought about/researched. Just a couple of little points. These things were over £800 when they came out, and they are rated at 575 watts. Top quality hand built in Britain. Cheers, Karl.
12. Ashdown Klystron Classic 500 head, with footswitch. Just got this from RandomBass. It looks almost brand new, it sounds fantastic and it overhangs my Ashdown mini cabs by about 2 inches on either side . I know that will swiftly drive me clinically insane. I am struggling to believe I was so stupid to forget my cabs are Ashdown mini cabs. OK, so £370 including courier. I am now going to weep in the corner. THIS WAS SOLD AND HAS FALLEN THROUGH BECAUSE ASHDOWN'S LINK BELOW SHOWS THE WRONG DIMENSIONS!!!! The actual dimensions are, Width 24 inches (610) Height 8.75 inches (210) Depth, 12 inches (300). I now know where I went wrong when I got it. http://www.ashdownmu...tail.asp?ID=179 Hope you dont mind this Geoff, you were a star and I was stupid. http://basschat.co.u...-head-for-sale/ Edited for my usual crap photo's please check my feedback. Please note, I may sell the cabs instead, see later post.
13. Geoff has been brilliant. The head is in fantastic nick, bomb proof packaging, swift and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended, thanks Geoff.
14. Bagsy 1st when you put the Sea Foam Green up . Saw this FAR too late to join the queue. Good luck to that very nice chap Stockholm Syndrome. Edit, sorry went all Sheehan hero worship, I did of course mean 1st dibs on the Surf Green (with Brown Tortieplate)
15. In shock, lost for words, blah.... Some tremendous work gone into it. You know that moment when you skip read something, then think, that can't be right> My first reading was "reconstituted Tortoise". Please help me
16. Came to this via the sale thread. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! (yes that is shouting). Ye gods I wish i had a hundreth of your skills or patience, be proud, terrific job. Wonder how much is in the till at the offy .
17.
Space? You've got cars haven't you?
Nope, the wife has
18.
futurama (selmer), ace! Collectible. Nitro finishes, lots of crackling, nice! One of the most comfortable guitars i ever played. Never ad a go on their basses mind. Grab it for the right price! A steal at 150. I would but I dont have the space. Easy now.
Er, it's not one of the originals, the name came back into circulation a couple of years bac. I had one of the originals (part of Hagstrom I think?), my 1st bass, £10 in 1973. I was robbed These are far superior to the one I had, and probably cost less than the originals do now.
