Two of the very best D class amps available today?
karlfer replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
@Deedee I really do like the D800. Even more so now. I started a bass share gig (alternate weekends with main bassist) & did my 1st two gigs the weekend before the pubs shut. This band is superb, being going years. I did the sound check etc, through FOH, monitors etc, they are LOUD but a kinda clear loud. Despite bricking it (two sets, no rehearsals with them, learn stuff at home) about 3rd number in I had a ridiculous grin on my face. You see, for the first time I'd actually had to wind my rig up past halfway on the master & 9 o'clock on the gain. The Mesa, with my 2 Orange OBC112's. It punched me in the gut, the trousers were a flappin' & the stage was a bouncin'. FABULOUS ๐ -
I've moved on to the next on the guitarists list. AC/DC Down Payment Blues. Dear God, I do hate AC/DC stuff.

Cheers Mr 4000, most excellent.๐

I had 27 to learn in 2 weeks for a bass share gig (main bassist one weekend, me the next). Did the first 2 gigs the week before close down. Guitarist has sent me another 7 to learn lol. One of them is Zep'd Ramble On REALLY not my style๐ฎ. More like struggle on ๐ Oh, and they don't do rehearsals.

I tried a couple of the Performer series about 18 months ago. These pups were standard. Opinion only but to me they were a little weak & underwhelming.

Why do some BC sellers insist on buyer arranging courier?

I changed to "buyer arrange shipping" a couple of years back. This was when shipping costs rocketed, for example, a ยฃ1200 bass was going to cost over ยฃ70 insured from Wigan to London. The buyer didn't want to pay that so I offered them the chance to book their own, save some money AND TAKE THE RISK FOR THAT. They declined. I know when I send a bass it will be very well packed and as per photos in the advert. I also take photos of the packing process. I don't want to be tied up with; A. Chasing courier up because it's gone AWOL B. Spend months trying to get my money back from a courier who has charged me to insure they have dove the job I paid for!!!๐คฌ C. Both are exacerbated if outside of UK. In the UK theoretically I could (well, not for the next 3 weeks) get in my car, drive to the UK HO of the courier & cause them some grief! So, if you can't come to my house or meet up half way...................... -
^^^^^^^^^^ Thought he might, but poor lad timing isn't going to help. http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/GR_Bass_Cabinets.html

Yup, standard PB 62 from late 80s early 90s, hootenanny, that neck plate seen quite a few before, the serial number under the made in Japan will be one letter 6 numbers. Probably non export.

Chorus with page 1 allround half way round and a cut on 400hz on page 2. Near enough for the 1st hour of pratting about whilst I try to figure out how to use it.

Sussed with the aid of a MS-60B, thanks folks. Mind it's the only effect I've managed to figure out & no idea how to save it, or put it on one of the empty numbers after the phase/hintofphil/owl sorta stuff ๐
-
Yeah, but what about the GELF I ask?
-
Like yer style Jack me lad ๐ No I don't have any effects, never used any but if I can get something for this one piece, I'll use it. And sell it when I get fired after 2 gigs ๐ญ
-
I've never used any effects pedals before @Happy Jack I don't really understand how that would help get the kind of sound or "feel" that the guitarist is looking for?
-
Sorry, playing one note like a metronome for 2.5 minutes before vocals come in is a challenge to my aging concentration! Oooh, thanks for that Gareth, don't know if I dare, I get tongue tied conversing with famous peeps, especially ones that did a mouse dance on TOGWT ๐ฒ๐ Mind. LOVE that Explorer, looks Washburn, 80's.

Hope somebody can help. I've been lucky enough to get some gigs with a great band. They are very busy & the bassist wants some weekends off & I'm delighted to do them. They don't rehearse so I'm working the stuff out myself. The guitarist wants me to play the linked below keyboard line on bass. I'm struggling as he wants it playing C# HO D D D, where as I'm struggling to get away from thinking (8ths) DDDD Anyway, any ideas on a possible effect to get my P sounding like the link below (don't listen to anymore than 30 seconds, you will lose the will to live!) BUGGER, I've just listened to it again, it's a didgereedoo ๐คฃ

A quick snap of my now completely passive (& filthy it appears ๐) Elite Jazz. Ki0Gon passive loom, the previous active/passive switch is now series/parallel & it plays & sounds wonderful.
