1.
It doesn't have to be tinny. Larry Graham's tone is meaty as a hog-roast!
Don't mention Hog Roast. My Mother's here for the weekend and she's vegetarian . Karl. For believers; http://www.promenademusic.co.uk/Jay-Dee-Ja...ed/product/9279
 2. I'm not a fan of these, don't know if it's good bad or indifferent. Just in case anybody is interested. Karl. 3. I don't like slap because of the actual tinny sound. Give me John Paul Jones sound any day. One of our guitards was dead impressed by seeing a bassist in a band slap a 10 second solo. He's never impressed with the intro to Doctor Doctor which starts off with me playing part of Jaco's version of Blackbird (the chordal stuff). Still ain't going to slap Mr. Guitard . Actually, there's a thought. Karl.
 4. Whilst not knowing the exact model makes this little more than a guess, the most expensive Ibby BTB i could find in a quick search, was £720 new. Karl.
 5. After soundcheck, I used to just put mine back in the cases until 5 minutes before going on. Then tune again and hold onto it. Always like to have a guitard between me and punters for bass and goolie protection . Karl.
 6. £300 collected £330 delivered in tatty but perfectly usable hard case. Will trade for Highway 1 (or One) Precision, + £50 cash your way. If it survives, finishes on t'bay on Tues. Loads of watchers, no bids. If nothing changes between now and Tuesday, will just put it away for a couple of years. It's very unlikely to go down in value and it certainly looks more like a Rick than most modern 'Fakers. Cheers, Karl.
 7.
Thanks for the kind words mate! Much appreciated. Nice overall sound, but if you want some constructive criticism: 1. I found in places that the tempo fluctuated. Maybe an idea to get the drummer to play with a click-track. 2. Guitar was a touch quite - both rhythm and lead 3. Bass cut through very nicely, just needs to be less busy in places and it will improve the song no end. 4. Vocals were on the whole very good, just could do with coming up in the mix slightly. Aside from that, not a bad effort at all... reminded me of Bad Company in parts.
Many thanks, I was completely bricking it about sharing this, but it's all stuff that can be sorted. Not the 1st time I've had the "busy", and very true sadly. Our SkinsMeister has a T Shirt "How do you want it, too fast or too slow" . We are just a live pub/covers band (except for couple of tracks like that one), so "demo" studio etc, completely novice. Cheers for pointers, Karl.
 8.
I quite like that, reminds me of early Deep Purple in places. Quite a blanced mix although for some reason the crash cymbal sounds over compressed. Good mix apart from that. Our effort from our first album...
Love it. Captures the fire of the bands of the time, but with a more up to date feel. . Just great punk power, I'd love to hear it through a hi-fi, will figure how to do that eventually. Hopefully attached is our effort for promoters, 1 track of 5 track CD (warning, old fart rockers alert). The mix sounds great through my old Technics hi-fi, yet absolutely crap through my laptop. Ideas gratefully received.
 9.
is that...felt tip?
That's what I thought about the headstock.
 10.
In mine too. Helps yours is a twin truss rod as well. Karl, just looking at the ebay ad mate, I found it a bit confusing you haven't named a frieght price? Am I just being stupid or is it not said how much is going to be paid for delivery? That may put people if so. Just a thought.
Took me 2 nights and about 4 hours to get that far, by which time I had lost the will to live (problem with Firefox). House accident was beckoning . When I 1st went into postage with the ad, I put £50, insured with case, then it decided to change to freight and I couldn't change it. To be honest I didn't expect the ad to last this long. I've put BIN would be £370 inc case/insured delivery, but I reckon of the dozens of watchers I'll get offers of £250 after it's pulled. They will be pointed along the lines of anatomical impossibilities . Cheers, Karl.

 12. Embarrassed to say never really noticed that section, but probably next week will put our demo up there. I don't give a monkey's what anyone thinks about my bass playing, I know it's limited. What I would like is a critique on the mix, and frankly whether it's good enough for promoters. Many thanks for pointing this section out, I will join in on the Bar and Grill. My only redeeming feature is I have caught loads of Barbel . You know who you are. Karl.
 13.
WAS the one on Ebay before I got grassed up to the Rickenf***er police!!!! @Karl - That's what I thought..... I've spent a small fortune on Rickenfakers and the modding them with real ricky parts only to find once I got the Retrovibe that I prefer the sound of that....... so my next projects will be modded with humbuckers MM style or otherwise..b
Yeah the Rick police. OK for Retrovibe/Bass Collection/Tuscany businesses to sell on there, but not private individuals. When they pull my ad, I'm going to tell them I will be writing to Trading Standards and OFT. Bloody hypocritical IMO. Karl.
 14. Anybody who can play bass and put together a (very good) website, impresses me. Nice one. Karl.
 15. Cracking price for a cracking bass. At first I didn't like the choice of pick up and bridge style, but they actually make very sensible developments on the traditional style. Bet it goes today . Good luck, Karl.
 16. Further PM's replied to. Loads of watchers on t'bay. Wonder how many are BC'ers . Karl.
 17. No replies, maybe we are all busting into our piggy banks? Worth a punt at that price. Karl.
 18.
This has got to be 100% original and vintage and I should know as I'm an exerpt on vintage Finder bases. I actually met the legendery Lionel Colin Fender in 2003 and can verify that he told me himself that every bass he made was just as this happens so she must be correct. I am Morethan Semen..........thank you for listening.
Morethan Semen . Karl.
 19.
I think you're right there. It kind of helped me know decent fakers from dodgy ones although I still have no clue as to what is what when TRCs have been removed. Also, hellothere, you'll never know a good one before you play it. Even decent quality fakers can come with issues!
TRC, anybody selling should really be prepared to provide photo's, enough for you to cross Jon's palm . Quality ones with issue's? That's why I chose a bolt neck. On the vintage copies (and vintage Rick's), fretboards, bridges, necks can be a problem if abused. A bolt neck is easier to work on. IMO. Karl.
 20.
Where can I find out more about Rickenfakers? Such as why there are so many and if there is any way to spot a "good" one without playing it.
Read 80 pages of this thread and cross Jon's palm with silver . Karl.
 21. Love the very even wear (pretty much every note on the board) from fretting , even though the frets themselves look quite good . Karl.
 22.
Proper job:
Whats with me?
 23. Mine. Been on BC 3 weeks, just a few offers, not quite close enough to £300 collected/£330 delivered. I've been careful to avoid any references, but it will still probably get pulled. Karl.
 24. Excellent stuff Justin. I nearly (long story) got an audition for these lads just over a year ago, before I joined BBGM. You are the man, well done. Karl.
 25.
Is this one they made up in their workshop.......whoops, did I say that out loud?
Well. the auction shows they have 2 available . Karl.
