Sorry to see it go Karl, I didn't realise it had a ding on the bottom or a missing screw, sorry mate. Great bass this, Karl is a proper gent so buy with confidence folks.
Thanks Tom. The dint on the button I noticed when I tried it. Did not give one toss, not on this bass . The missing screw/spring, erm, well, dunno, but guess I've done a few gigs with it and not noticed . Could have gone anytime. Still doesn't go out of tune though! Trip to Richard Thomson on Monday methinks. Truly sorry if it does go, but would like to get a Lakland Duck Dunn for sound and neck profile and this is the only one that could come close in value. Look after yourself fella, cheers, Karl. PS, just checked some of the bands facebook photo's, the screw/spring were definitely at a gig with me in October, so not down to you dude!!! -
Hello folks. NOW for sale, £600 collected from Wigan, £635 delivered. No offers thanks. Long shot but I need to get a Duck Dunn. On the rare occasion they come up they seem to go for £525/£550. The '75 re-issues seem to go for around £600+, so not much in it. Problems with my jazz. 1. Seems to have been dropped at some time, nasty little ding at bottom strap button. 2. When taking the (crap) photo's noticed the the screw for the G string saddle is missing . Now replaced with correct Japanese screw. This jazz used to belong to Tom1946, so it's a good 'un, with the slightly less common rosewood board and blocks. This is a reluctant trade/sale, but I really need a P with a J neck. The 3 guys who asked for a sale price when I was looking to trade, seem to have vanished, so now on open sale Thanks for looking, Karl. (now posted in proper place, thanks BILBO for sorting out my senior moment . Feedback. Find a local jam night. Go for 3 or 4 weeks, see what numbers are being played. Learn just a couple of them in your own time. When you are ready, just have a word with the organiser, "any chance I can play on >>>>>>>>>>>>> tonight?" Trust me, you will have been sussed by then and they will encourage you. Once you've done that, made some friends and some contacts, you will get further opportunities. All the best, Karl.

Enjoy dude . Karl.
Should have left it as a Greco ... gorn!
It's back, but how long for? This is exactly why I don't want to put mine on FEEBay, but sooner or later I'm going to have to. It's OK for Retrovibe, Tuscany and Californian to advertise new copies, but not for an individual to advertise an old one. Twats . Karl. The Arbiter has been pulled as well.

I'm a plank. I would like other o ffences taken into account. Going back to my attic now. . Pillock of Wigan.
what's the action like and is the neck straight? I am missing my old CMI Rick copy!
Action fine although a little higher than my Fenders, as I only use a pick on Rick style basses. Neck also fine. Have gigged this a few times since I got it, using it for Diamond Head/Metallica's Am I Evil. Oh yes, it can growl . Further PM's replied to, thanks for the interest, but still here. Cheers, Karl.
Jesus Christ, that is amazing. Where the hell did you find it if you don't mind me asking? While not quite as popular I'd actually prefer a more adjustable bolt on neck personally.
Well buy mine then pretty please! Karl.

Bump. It's from 1976, it's very well made, it's a very good likeness to the real thing. More so than most modern Rickenfakers. It's unlikely (but slightly possible) to be worth any less in the future £330 delivered by Parcel Farce £300 collected from Wigan. I need a second SP212, please save me from FEEBay . Karl.
laminated body ?
Yes, but not ply. Jon (Bassassin) calls it "Butchers Block" , I think. It appears to have a facing of about a quarter of an inch, then solid wood beneath that. If anybody has one of those earlier, passive, Mexican Precision Deluxes that have P and J pick ups, I would both swap and meet, if they were of a mind. That would mean my '75 Japanese, non-export Jazz (in my avatar) would be coming up for sale . I really need just 3 basses suitable for the gigs I do. I really want (not need) a second SP212. Thanks for the question, Karl.
Sorry to hear about your health Tom. Good luck with the sale though!
Same here fella, look after yourself. There are only a few folk that present items for sale as well as you do, if you go on the sick there will be much less lusting around these parts . Karl.
Quick question for yous experts. In one of the local flea pits and found one of these Looks pretty similar except it had a black TRC with the name in gold and I think the knobs were a different. A bit battered around the edges and needs a good clean, dust in all the hard to get places the TRC looked cracked but all there and I think there was a crack on the scratchplate too. How much you do these things usually go for?
Sold mine for £165 last year, but have seen them go to pushing £250. Couldn't get away with the short scale, or the very limited tonal variation. Also seemed fragile with poor action beyond redemption by me. Stupidly light though, and some may consider very cool . Good luck, Karl. edited for spelling yet again.

Not the same, but? Karl. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
others will probs give you a more defined answer, but the basses Crafted in Japan (CIJ) were made almost exclusively for the Japanese market and considered to be better quality than those Made in Japan (MIJ) which, although still excellent machines, were made for export.. bump, might as well now I'm here
I was under the impression that the change was due to a different factory being given the task of producing them. Seem to remember it changed about mid-nineties.
It's incredible that they released a 75 reissue 10 years later. Can you imagine a 2001 reissue being released now.
Think it was partly that bassists missed the aesthetics of the blocks/binding, especially with some of the strangeness that went with basses in the 80's. I was guilty of some seriously strange basses around that time. Mind, I think most of the early 70's re-issues were non-export Japanese market.

I'll give him jumpers and socks.
