If he sells it I hope he uses some of the money to buy a better camera for future ebay ventures! Also much respect to anyone with the balls to bid on what could pretty much be any old plank
Yup, it really could be any old plank. Not doing him/herself any favours with that photo. Assuming I got the correct 6 numbers tonight, I would still be asking for better photo's before embarking on a 400 mile round trip . Karl.
Well, it is from 1063 - which makes it pre-Norman. I'm not sure how careful an owner Norman is - but as he arrived nearly a thousand years ago we can't be too sure. Isn't he on tour over in Dublin? I'm sure I heard someone tell me that Norman is in Ireland... Still - it is a VERY old bass!
Bill being sent (in Groats) for spraying lap top screen .

This may well be a fantastic, original bass, but even I would put a bit more effort into the photo. (Guess who's narked cos tonights gig was cancelled ). Karl.
Nice! I don't think the Badass and Barts were factory fitted, though....
Cheers WOT, not often I get something right . Karl. -
That maple board one - You're quite right - haven't seen one of these come up for a good few years - got an idea a BCer might have nabbed the last one that did... Jon.
Remember lad in local band in my yoof having exactly that bass. . I had upgraded to a Shaftesbury Tele bass then saw that. Next gig money upgrade was to be one of them , couldn't get one, ended up with an Antoria Black Eagle? Special Edition jazz which weighed about the same as Middlesbrough. Karl.
My beautiful lefty Musicman Stingray in desirable black/black/maple is back up for grabs. It was always my dream bass for its looks and sound, and I got many years of gigging and recording pleasure from it. Now I'm playing guitar and singing in a touring band and just don't have time to play bass very often! The bass is a 1993 if I remember correctly. It has a few dinks as is expected from a gigged instrument, but has not been mistreated - just good honest wear. There's no buckle rash and no major damage at all. You can see a knock on the end of the headstock, it's just a tiny cosmetic knock, the bass has never fallen over or anything serious I'm including a great quality Germany made Ritter hardcase in the sale. I bought the bass in Germany and the case has lived with the bass ever since, it's a great case and is in great condition. E-mail/PM me sensible offers please - I might consider something in part exchange. I generally prefer slimmer necks, that's the one downsides of the Stingray for me having learned to play on a Jazz. I love the feel of a Jazz type neck, slimmer at the nut... Sorry, off topic I know, but, many thanks for your excellent video review of the Orange Terror 500. You are a gent, cheers, Karl.

If you don't mind me saying Karl, the fact you're asking £70 more than you paid, and aren't willing to post to BCers isn't doing you any favours. It's a nice bass but the through-neck copies tend to be more popular. Jon.
Jon, I will always be grateful for any of your comments. Your knowledge on these things is legendary, your opinions highly respected. You have given me great advice in the past. And your'e a progger . I am now including a tatty but usable hard case, and free insured delivery for £330. With the work that's been done on it , that is a very reasonable price now IMO. As with all pricing issues, the market will ultimately decide. BassChat is phenominal for many reasons, especially advice/knowledge. It's also become the place to sell basses now, very much an honourable (BIG) bunch of folk. I got the bass "relatively" cheap at a bad selling time of the year. I have spent well over £70 on setting up, custom black scratchplate and printed TRC. I am also including a round trip of up to 140 miles to personally deliver at no further charge. If I could get a box I would be happy to post, insured, to a BassChatter at their cost. I would always prefer to deal with a Basschatter. I will try to get to Halfords see if I can ponce something suitable. Regarding through neck, yup, they are the kiddies but I decided on bolt on because I reckoned my limited skills could solve any action/board lift/bridge issues. With a through neck, routing out the body to drop the bridge/action on a badly bought bass, would result in messy firewood, as DIY is Destroy It Yourself in my case . Lloyd, cheers bud, 1st gig with the mini rig this Sat, looking forward to winding the lads up . Tom, don't you go getting that there controversial young fella me lad . Cheers, Karl.

New photo's added in post # 12. FREE (tatty) hardcase now included if posted. UK delivery only. £330 including insured postage. Finances need to clear before bass is posted. £300 Collected from Wigan, in gigbag. CMI Rick copy, Feb 1976. I got this a couple of weeks before christmas for £285 plus delivery. That was a bargain. Gig bag included. I had been looking out for a bolt neck as you can do something about action etc, unlike neck through. I have since had it taken to pieces, shimmed, set up, tuner problem sorted. It now sports a black TRC with RickenFaker on it, as well as a black scratchplate. Original scratchplate and TRC included in the sale. It has a new set of Status flat wound 40-100's. Action is much better than when I got it. It has a lot of little chips, dings etc, it's lived some of it's 35 years. Reason for sale is I need a 2nd Orange SP212, my other 3 basses are workhorses, this is a lovely luxury. Yes, it does sound a lot like a standard Rick, but remember the classic sounds of Squires/Lee were a lot more than just the bass . I live in Wigan, I will meet up to 70 miles from Wigan. Sorry, as ever, photo's crap as it's just a phone. Edited to remove really crap photo's of black 'plate/TRC, will try to get better ones done. Any trial if you want to come round, any questions please just mail me. Cheers, Karl.
And you also realise that our very own Craig Martini is the bassist in Gilbert's band, and is the bassist in the clip?
Mucho respect here, that bass line took me months to learn as a kid. I am really grateful for this vid, as our lead guitard is a monster Gilbert fan and this gives me much more leverage to get Roundabout onto the set list Cheers Craig Martini (not one hint of jealousy ) Karl.

Wonder if it's inspired by Roger Dean's ironing board (age being shown alert). Karl.
