Can't miss a day here can you The Aria member Ash has up is very tempting, but even at £300 cash picked up, I would have to spend somewhere £20/£50 to get the electrics sorted. Cos I'm thick and even the drummer won't let me near anything technical! As has been pointed out, it's a bolt on and it seems a lot of things are proving hard to sell, so I might give it some time. Ebay in last couple days, virtually perfect 2008 (latest model) USA P, case and candy, £500 start, no bids at end. 6 string Petrucci Yamaha sig bass, immaculate, sold for £500. Cheers, Karl.

I have a Non Export 70's re-issue P, which I assume to be basswood. Superb thump(especially with flats) and very light. Semi hollow body things (Ibby, Aria, Godin, Epiphone etc, extremely light). Sure some of the guys close would let you try their light basses (have I spelt "their" right?, I'm getting paranoid now). Good luck, Karl.

Had one or two nice comments over the years, most memorable? Supporting King Crabs, 1979, their bass player came over after our set and said, "wey ye play a lotta notes ye bonny lad", which I took as a complement. Big, slightly scary guy called Jimmy Nail! Vic Reeves (Rod Moir to me) in his auto-biography, page 243 or 247 I think " probably the best bass player in Darlington was Karl Altdorfer with his Red Indian looks and raw Rickenbacker (er, Kasuga actually). Don't actually have the book, but my mother has. What was really nicefor me was firstly he remembered me, and amazingly my name was spelt correctly. I have trouble with it at times Karl.

Nice one WoT. As a kid in the early 70's watching the likes of Sabbath, Heap,Zepp, Purple, Lindisfarne, 10cc etc on that stage, always dreamed of playing it. At 16, did a couple of gigs with a band called The Losers, all a couple of years older than me. Only standing in but they split, as the guitarist was going to the States. Chap by the name of Chris Rea.

Beats me that folks buy a bass, keep it one or 2 years then expect to get 95% or more back on it. Then they get pissed off with watchers but no bids. 4 Explorer basses since August, all around £200/£250 start price, none sold. They are £239 new from Thomann, with free delivery(I will eventually get one for £150). Another one has got a P Lyte on at £595 The list goes on, but if you want to sell you need to listen to what the market tells you. Have to admit the amount of times the word "rare" is used when there are 3 or 4 of the same bass on at the same time causes a look of incredulity. Karl.
