    Christmas '73. Futurama jazz copy, £10. Plank with strings from newspaper round. Went downstairs for my pressies and Ma and Pa had sold organs to buy me a second hand Marshall 20(yes, twenty) watt valve stack. Well, matching head and 1x15. Saw one exactly the same on evil bay last year, starting price £2000. Oops!

    Last November I went for my 1st audition for well over a decade, at the age of 51. Twenty years older than the rest of the band. I got it. Then about 2 months ago I was contacted by a really good covers band. Went for the audition (one of 7 bassists), got it. Only 10 years older than these wonderful guys. All this (plus other offers) because I put my details up on Forming Bands. If you need to, have a little break, but keep looking. You owe it to all the effort you have put in over the years. One joyous punter makes it all worthwhile. Good luck whatever you decide.

    Sadly I was the "letting down" one in the band I left 6 weeks ago. My first band after a 5 year hiatus, only with them 3 months. I honoured all booked gigs, did the studio ep (and paid my quarter) and promised to give my notes and time to my replacement. I left because I was offered a 6 month paying dep job, 18 gigs (original bassist taking paternity leave???). It's also playing covers material that I adore. Sometimes, you just have to be an honest s**t.

    I traced an Epi Explorer bass serial number a while back and seem to remember U was the notaion for the Unsung factory and think the 1st two digits were the year. Could be completely wrong, memory, blah blah, memory, blah blah, mem.... Coat being got!

    I was after this bass but it was only for trade. I have a Highway 1 Jazz and gotta tell ya, it is probably the 2nd best Fender I have had, second only to the '74 jazz I had for 30 years. Good luck with the sale. Karl. Oh, er, bump.

    So, deal agreed Sunday. Bass arrived 7.40 am Tuesday. Should have the wrapping undone by Friday(that's a lie, but to damage this bass in transit would have been bordering on impossible) AMAZING. I love the bass, it is better than described,did I say I love the bass? Simon, I simply cannot praise you enough, superb, easy transaction. I am immensely grateful to you for providing me with a Precision with a slimmer neck, that I can play. Did I say I love the bass? Now, where's that stupid grin removal cream? TOP,TOP guy.
