1. Thought that was you on the bay. Just a bit out of my price range but good luck, it's a stunner Andy. Karl.
2. I've just left a band of 30 somethings. I'm 51. No grieff or anything like that, just got the offer to join a bunch of 40 something rockers. I had to learn an 8 minute Metallica song and lots of other challenging rock stuff of the stop/start, change key, widdle variety. 37 songs in 3 weeks before the first gig. Loving it! There is always something better, just waiting to be found. Get on those formiing band sites and enjoy. Good luck, Karl.
3. Seamless. Deal agreed this morning, met up, done. Not only is Tom a top gent, he has a ridiculously wonderful selection of basses. Whadya mean, green eyed monster. Many, many thanks Tom, you are a gent. Cheers, Karl.
4. Hiya fella, where in the country are you please?

Hiya N. The Rick parts cost about £400. Not worth that second hand but I would guess 2 Rick pick ups, Rick pick up surrounds,Rick pick up cover(2nd hand one on e bay standing at £26), Rick bridge, Rick saddles, Rick wiring loom, would bring in over £200 if parted out. Thankfully I don't have the skills to attempt that! Don't think for one second that I haven't thought about contacting you about that superb, gorgeous Twin Neck. Sadly I am even worse with 6 strings! Cheers bud, and good luck, Karl.

Now £500 collected for a short period, (after a certain Precision that has come up). Please remember, this looks almost new apart from a tiny chip on the headstock. It also has £400 worth of real Rickenbacker parts. Thanks, Karl.

Probably last bump unless someone has loot,a Precision or an amp/rig that is near to what I am needing. Disappointed that it's not gone, especially when you see an admittedly beautiful Ibanez, at £650. The pick ups/mountings/bridge/saddles/wiring loom/set up/nut all cost a lot of money but I still only paid £575 plus £100 for the set up/nut/strings. I do think £550 collected is reasonable, but open to opinions? Cheers, Karl.
8. And this years winner of the Bass Chat patience award is................. Well done Kev!

For those that have asked, hopefully a picture will follow this? Mods, if this picture breaks any rules, apologies, just trying to clarify for a couple of members. Please remove if not allowed.

More PM's replied to. Couple of very nice basses offered for trade, but not quite close enough. Prefer a Fender or Lakland Precision. Would also consider lightweight/powerful bass rig? Cheers, Karl.
11. See, if I could sell my Rick copy, I would be beating your door down for this, it is exactly what I am after and they always come up at just the wrong time. No doubt this will be gone today. Good luck with the sale (I think). Oh forgot, isn't this the 70's re-issue with slightly narrower neck? If so, I will be crying very soon, as it is exactly the one that is haunting my dreams!
12. I haven't had the balls to watch this yet, as I just know Billy will make me feel inadequate. When I do summon up the courage, I know I will learn from it. I have just joined an established covers band and had to learn Daddy (thank God for the Songsterr site). That's enough for the moment! My fingers hurt.
13.
Sorry I thought this was about something completely different. Wondered why it was in General Bass Disc.
Brain the size of a small planet and you come up with innuendo?

Hello Oli It is not a real Rickenbacker TRC. The graphic on it does say Rickenbacker, in the correct style of writing, however, to the anoraks amongst us, the writing does look just a touch too small. Having said that, the 4 gigs I took it to (Abbey Inn, Oldham,Crescent, Salford, Blue Cat, Stockport and Vanilla Lounge Wigan), all had the young dude bassists from the support bands giving it, "Love the Rickenbacker mate". Sadly I 'fessed up on all 4 occasions, that it wasn't real. Cheers, Karl.

17. Oh what fun I could have if only I was blessed to be from Colorado.
18. Try Aurora Projects web site. Custom cut in Britain, brilliant job on a tortie for my Geddy. Cheers, Karl.

21. I haven't listened. I'm p****d off enough at having to learn Daddy, brother, lover, mother, cover, bugger, whatever it's called.

No, not yet sold. Couple of enquiries, plus one for the pick ups, which is an interesting thought. Mind, it's been less than 24 hours, and it ain't exactly cheap. Anybody close enough (hell, Manchester's next door) more than welcome to come and try the bass. Not sure if secretly wanting it to take enough time for the Steve Harris inspired Precision GAS to go away, cos if nowt else this thing does look darn good ( or so all the bassists from other bands, at the last 4 gigs, have said). Thanks for the bump MB1, Cheers, Karl.

Hello John and thanks for your enquiry. It does not have "stereo" output so will never sound exactly like a Rick going through 2 amps with split signal. It has Rickenbacker pick ups installed, along with Rickenbacker wiring looms, bridge and tailpiece. Certainly sounds a lot more Rickenbacker than one of those beautiful old Ibanez's, with the "mudbuckers". What also needs remembering is that Rickenbackers do more than that sound, as McCartney and others proved. Although you may get them cheaper 2nd hand, these parts come to about £400 retail. Then there is the cost of getting them professionally fitted. On top of that since purchasing it, I have spent nearly £100 on new strings, new custom cut nut and full set up (Richard Tomson, of Tomson guitars, Wigan). I bought the bass off a guy advertising on Ebay and Preloved, around December 12th last year. It cost me £575. I did a 400 mile round trip to pick it up. The ebay item number 270492829061 is the previous owners advert for this very bass. The photo's under that item number are of this very bass. Least you are likely to get a real Rick for is about £1200 and even then, it may not be real (ask bassassin, the Obi One Kinobi of Rickenfakers). The Rockinbetter is advertised bog standard new at between £495 and £612, although most potential suppliers are cagey on wether they have one in stock. Finally, you are more than welcome to come and try the bass, with absolutely no obligation. Feel free to walk away. The only point I would make is that I will, at this early, pre ebay stage, be looking at £550 and no offers. Just being honest with everybody. Again, many thanks, Karl.
