  1. Wanted to try these out as I liked the look of the features. First gig last night, wonderful little fella. Usual bass/mid/treble plus a mid cut & a "Vintage" button that is simulating Fender Bassman. Mute, gain & a great big volume rotary on the front. Easy to find on dark stages & I needed it to turn down last night. DI level on back. Singer sound dood very happy! Best I've had sayeth he! Enough power to say the least, the floor was bumping! Gain 10 o'clock, vol 11 o'clock. First set with Mex P/J, vintage button on, rest of dials around noon, fabulous, from nice & smooth on Smiths & Bad Company, to chainsaw on Kaiser Chiefs. All done through tone & vol controls on a passive Mex. Second set, rick 4004C11, flats, vintage off, mid cut off. Dear God, blew me away, from Steppenwolf to Tenpole Tudor to AC/DC, just great tones wherever I went on the rotaries (Rick electrics changed to pan, push pull vol parallel/series, push pull tone/mid cut). And boy did I have to turn the Rick down, compared to the Fender. 1st number of 2nd set was American Idiot, little bit of "dirt" on it. One guitarist turned round, big mouth followed by . Cracking amp, has everything I need & little I don't. Very happy bunny.
  2. IDIOT, WRONG BLOODY SECTION Mods, if you could do the honours please. Look, it was a tough gig last night

  4. Gorgeous. I have a bass up for sale elsewhere, if it goes I'll be straight on the M6. GLWTS
  5. A bass I DIDN'T mean to win on FEEBay. Paid £151 for it, drove to collect it. Since getting it, it's been cleaned, new strings, NOS replacement tuner, full set up, markers on the fretboard (can peel off, no residue will be left) & a daft Geddy symbol. Plays very nicely, good nick for a 20+ year old bass. White scratchplate comes with it. ONLY issue I haven't sorted is the tone pot doesn't seem to do much. £5 job if you can solder, £20 with local luthier. I've spent enough time & money on something I didn't mean to buy. NO GIG BAG OR CASE (case in photos for illustrative purposes only). Feedback linked below. COLLECTION ONLY FROM WIGAN sorry. Please, let's not complicate this (unlike on Facebook). It's £200 collection only. No trades, no variation on £200 collected.
  6. Paul has just bought a bass off me. His patience was astounding, putting up with my foibles. Even when there was a bit of a problem when I couldn't make a timing, he took it all in his stride. Great comms, patience, swift payment, an absolute pleasure to deal with. FULLY recommended. Enjoy the bass Paul & thanks for everything.
  7. Can't find a feedback thread for Laurie, so I'll kick it off. Decisive, paid quickly, kept in touch and did what he said he'd do, & when he would do it. Absolute pleasure to deal with you Lorenz, I hope you enjoy the amp & scare the drummer! Fully recommended, an absolute pleasure.
  8. James has just been to collect a bass from me. Lovely bloke, did everything he said he would do, when he said he would do . Absolute joy to deal with, real nice guy & what a player! Thoroughly recommended. Many thanks James & enjoy the jazz.
  9. Comedian Mark You are not alone Ed OK, so to continue. Thorough clean, new strings, set up, replacement NOS tuner (inbound) for the slightly buggered one. Bang on £200 all in thus far. I had some fingerboard stickers from a project I never got round too & a Geddy sticker. I have kept the white scratchplate, simple enough to put back on. I have not as yet got the tone pot done. Not quite sure if it's failed or just doesn't give much variation. Great Precision tone as it is. Anyway, never did Hoppus or Sixx any harm .
  10. As far as I remember there were 1000 of these made in red, white & blues, in a patriotic move after 911. Colours were LPB, CAR, White & either Daphne or Sonic Blue, can't remember which. I know there's a thread somewhere, probably TB, but I can't find it. Traded mine with Dougie Loudon of this parish, coz I'm stupid.
  11. They were £600 new in '95, not exactly cheap (although the last ones got cut to around £450 apparently). One year of production, 5000 globally split between 4 colours. Mine in my avatar. No Mark, interesting the price they are hoping for in Japan.
  12. Just found this https://www.ebay.com/itm/123604227426?ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-53200-19255-0%2F1%3Fff3%3D2%26toolid%3D10044%26campid%3D5336462331%26customid%3Dcomp-price%26lgeo%3D1%26vectorid%3D229466%26item%3D123604227426%26srcrot%3D711-53200-19255-0%26rvr_id%3D1871052700305%26rvr_ts%3D201e9dc41690ac3d3a71afabfffcc625&ul_noapp=true
  13. Look above dude, just as you were typing
  14. WTF did I put a daft bid on a bass when I'm trying to get down to 4. OK, so drove to pick it up, had a bit of time with it. BAD BITS. 2 of the clover leaf parts of the tuners rattle. Bit of Araldite should stop that. Reluctant to change as they have that torque bar that you can change tuner tension with hex key. Tone rotary seems to do nowt, so that'll either be a Ki0Gon loom or a trip to Richie Tomson to put a new pot in. Bit of neck dive (4" strap fettles that). EDIT. Strings are crap. IF I decide to keep it. GOOD BITS. The current one tone is FABULOUS, lovely thump with just a touch of bite. The generic Yam pups they used on this range were superb imo. Superb neck, 40mm nut, think maple board on a Nate Mendel. Looks great without scratchplate. Truss rod, bridge etc very good. Plays brilliant! Well built enough to use as an emergency hammer. So, bearing in mind I'm moving in a few months & REALLY need to cut gear down, do I move it on or, SPEND £60 ON WILKINSON BLACK BRIDGE, TUNERS & STRING TREE
  15. As per title, 1st year run from when they changed from painted necks. Completely original. DAFT price now, for one as good as this, imo, especially for our continental friends. Its in reasonable nick for a 32 year old bass that gets gigged regularly, stipled paintwork on the back, the photos actually make it look better than it is. Weight is 8lbs 8ozs. Obligatory Duff McKagan mention. Still has the little F caps on the rotaries, neck, truss, electrics fine, original slightly larger pole pups. Fender gig bag. COURIER. Buyer to organise/pay for own courier, just tell me when it's getting picked up. EUROPE. This is an even better buy now & I will ship to Europe but ONLY under the following terms. Buyer bank transfers £520 (GBP). WHEN payment HAS CLEARED in my account, buyer to then arrange own courier. Rest assured this bass will be well packed & in advertised condition when it is collected, but I no longer have the time or facility to chase couriers up in the unlikely event something goes wrong. Apologies but any buyer needs to accept that term & responsibility. Please see my linked 6 pages of feedback. The last photo shows the bass photobombing the drummers pic from last nights gig Any trial in Wigan, will travel to meet up. thanks for looking, Karl.
  16. Always a pleasure with you Dunc Think you're supposed to make offers by PM Very kind Pete, I wish I could take better photos. If you wish to ask this much money off people, my opinion is you need to make the effort. If somebody wants £2k+ for a vintage bass & puts up 3 photos, lazy & not respecting buyers imo
  17. You couldn't have got closer Pete. Now, are you running the book on how long before it's up for sale ?
  18. Yeah it's fairly shallow Dunc, normal dimensions, not as shallow as a Geddy. Thanks Rick, good to know especially from someone with your knowledge. Now, what other pic's would you like? All PM'S replied folks, as I've said this is a long term sale so no need for anybody to act in haste, It would be REALLY great if potential buyers got the chance to try it for a couple of hours, with no obligation.
  19. Anything under £200 is a steal for one of the Ed. I don't need it but I couldn't resist
  20. I'm in on this one, superb basses as all this family of Yams are. My max bid is set at £167 cos I want some spare to put a mudbucker at the neck. I don't need it, you know what you need to beat me. I WON'T be going any higher.
  21. We did McCooleys in Concert Sq last June, booked the following week for McCooleys in Matthew St. We did the 1st one, then cancelled the 2nd one. YOU REALLY NEED to keep somebody with the vehicles, especially at finishing time. I'm simply too old to be lugging gear 400 yards, stepping over trainee corpses. It was a fabulous gig though! Enjoy.
