Sorry dad, I was just being a tw playing devil's advocate Some would seem to wish to draw the (unnecessary) line at a different point to others
-
And there's the rub dad The one I am quoting is an actual factory made (for NAMM 1999 actually) bass, with, upgrades/mods, (whatever you wish to call them) made over the last 18 years. Sort of putting a better exhaust/wheels/tyres on a Peugeot Bipper BMW 1 series.

Don't know if I dare sell my Mex Precision Bass Special Deluxe Series, with it's Hipshot Lollipop tuners, Seymour Duncan P/J pick ups & BadAss11 bridge. Fender are quite happy to send out C & D's, if they deem it necessary, but frankly they rarely bother with the "used" market!
-
But has created a worrying reaction.
-
Perhaps if you pm'd perceived "offenders" before affecting their sales threads?????
-
Why not? You lit blue touch paper & retreated on the Limelight ad that started this. You also did the same on one of my Facebook ads.

The original Futuramas were made for Hagstrom of Sweden, mainly Jazz copies. You can see them occasionally up for sale on Feebay, anything up to £700. My 1st bass was one of those, purchased for £10 in December 1973. I WAS ROBBED, they are an atrocious piece of junk. I put it in a skip 20 years ago. As far as I know, the recently re-released Futurama brand are generic Chinese (probably name just bought) & frankly probably a damn sight better than the originals. Enjoy

Nicely put Mark. This "issue" comes up time & again. Doesn't matter how much moral soap boxing goes on, especially from those with a few bob in their pocket, people will do this. And as for reading the mind set of a potential buyer who is spending several hundred quid without due diligence.............. Even though it wasn't what the buyer thought it was, he got it at around the perceived market value. As far as I'm aware, only Marc at Limelight knows the exact parts/materials he uses.

CASH COLLECTED £400 Trade value £500 Neil Shoemark luthier built Gibson TRIBUTE non reverse Thunderbird. NOT a Gibson!!!!! I was informed it has an original 68 Gibson T Bird pick up. I can’t prove that but have absolutely no reason to doubt it. Body is Benin Walnut, mahogany neck, rosewood board. It now has an expensive Babicz bridge. It weighs 9lb 12oz. It has quite a few cymbal nibbles on the headstock, a few nick’s, chips & bumps. The original owner has one of Mr. Entwistle’s original 67 NR Tbirds. The template for this bass was taken from that bass. I am the second owner. A non reverse was an itch that had to be scratched but I am not comfortable playing it. It feels more of a pick players bass, I use fingers. This comes with a very battered case which does the job, although it consists of gaffer tape & dark matter (bloody heavy). I will take photos later on but there are a couple below from the original advert on Craig Addecott Bass Guitars page on Facebook (hope he doesn’t mind). I did not pay that price for this bass. I realise this is niche, hence cash price. I really would prefer trial & collection from Wigan, so a buyer can see if it’s for them. TRADES ! Fender J or P (the ONLY Gibson I have ever got on with was an Explorer, go figure!) Magellan 800, PUMA. I have a couple of hundred quid to add if needed. And no, your 1998 Mex J that was £220 new is not worth £500 to me now . Thanks for looking, Cheers, Karl.

I bought a non reverse Tbird TRIBUTE. It's luthier made. I was informed the pick up was an original 1967 Thunderbird pick up. It's in remarkable condition for a 50 year old pick up . I can see no numbers on it, apologies for photos, I'm really crap at close ups. Anybody know where I might find serial numbers etc?
