1. I had a brief encounter with one of these basses (took it as a part trade). Extremely good bass and at this price fabulous bang per buck . Kev's a joy to deal with as well!!
2. The following sums up most of the anecdotal references to this short lived series. They were replaced by the equally excellent (imo) Precision Bass Special Deluxe Series. The bass should have an AMXN serial number. "No strings through the body. Vintage bridge. The bodies are american alder, neck is maple with the skunk stripe and all-american jazz width. And yes it does say "made in U.S.A." The only mexican influence in these according to Fender is that the bodies were sent there to paint (less environmental laws) and then sent back to Cali to be assembled with vintage series pickups and hardware. Pick guard is anodized aluminum." Great rep amongst those who have had them. The rosewood board models rarely come up.
3. Bagsieblue (Martyn) of this parish. Been up for a while.
4. Lewis, this chap (on Facebook) seems to be looking to move a Limelight P/J on. He's tentatively offered it against my 60's RI Jazz. His spec appears to be white over sunburst, matching headsock, P/J config. Anyway, if it's something that may interest you, he's .... https://www.facebook.com/danielwstirrat?fref=ufi
5.
I'm in Oldham... Karl, you never cease to amaze...
6. Greart cabs these. Two of them belonged to me. Incoming PM Muzz. Unlikely but I have to ask
7. Andy, just something to consider. The Streamliners are quite "bass heavy" for want of a better expression. Might be worth considering turning the bass rotary back from "noon" to about 9 o'clock on the dial. Enjoy, fabulous amps imo
8. The bloke's a scammer, end of.
9. My perfect bass, one string to rest my thumb on, one string to play. Shame it's a bit pricey.
10. Araldite is working very well 3 years on thank you very much . And that bass has been gigged, oh yus. And you can't see the join
11. OK, seeing as there are guys in this thread that really know their stuff, dumbass question. I would love to get two of these 210's. Would that mean I'm running at 6 ohms? Current amp is Ashdown RM 800 (mannnn, that DRIVE!! getcha Lemmy on).
12. Different gauges available Dave but I am using 50 - 100 on my FSR 60'S Classic Burgundy Mist Jazz. Quite an unusual set but currently doing 50's/60's and Elvis stuff, these strings work well for a double bass approximation, wit a touch of SUB on my RM Ashdown.
13. Enjoy Alan, it's a nice bass. Great versatile workhorse with some worthwhile mods. See ya soon fella.
14. Finally met with Alan today after a couple of years of banter on t'interweb. Absolute gent to deal with and real nice guy to boot, deal with utmost confidence. Alan, it was an absolute pleasure. Enjoy the bass and speak soon, take care fella.
15. Welcome to the Mex P/J club Dave. Although mine are passive, every one of this Mex Deluxe Series I've had, has been a great workhorse bass. Enjoy
16. Damo, might be worth asking here, me owld apfel strudel. Somebody may have one they can bring. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/295480-north-west-bass-bash-12th-feb-2017/page__pid__3223237__st__60#entry3223237 Just down the 56 for you (distract the wife and kinds with Chester Oaks)
17. Riverdance, or whatever Fartley's calling it this year. About a dozen times now . In the early years, when they used a live band, I actually rather liked it. Last few times, recorded stuff through ear bleeding PA. Not so much. I did blow out some gig money couple of years back, took her to London for a few days. Royal Ballet at yon Opera House. Alice in Wonderland thingy. Tell ya what, if I was a young single bloke, I'd be going to enjoy audiences at yon Ballet
18.
Correction - maple fingerboard - before the pedants arrive
Bugger!!!
19. See, I'd be getting a bit, erm, twisty tbh. Not being nosy, but given current MM prices I would guess this particular bass is at least north of £2k. I am also sure that MM would have been aware of the updated CITES regs long before they came into force . If so, doesn't really reflect well on their planning or customer care. No particular axe to grind, but being in service industries all my life, this kind of performance bugs me.
