1.
I'd imagine it is more that the ruling has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works at MusicMan. Lots more paperwork to clear all the rosewood boards on other basses that are possibly ahead of yours on the production schedule.
Quite possibly, but it would be nice that if that was the case, they informed individual customers of that.
2. Perhaps a rock and a hard place. You are well experienced in the ways of custom luthiers I believe . Even Ernie Ball's. Perhaps they are running behind and are being a little disingenuous. Might be time for a diplomatically phrased get yer fingers out.
3. Warren, Manton Customs posted this in another thread "Yes, CITES have introduced new legislation protecting all Rosewood species. Meaning if you now sell a guitar or bass with a Rosewood fretboard outside the EU, or across states if you're in America you'll need to apply for a permit. Buying a bass within the U.K./EU will remain the same. I believe one of the reasons they did this was to protect Brazilian Rosewood (approaching extinction) as Indian Rosewood (the species most fretboards are made of these days) is actually very sustainable and one of the worlds most planted trees. They grow quickly too. But rather than further protect Brazilian Rosewood (which was already restricted) they have covered all species, as I suppose one species was being passed off as the other. I hope we will not see a great increase in the use of Ebony, as this is currently way more endangered than Indian Rosewood ever will be. So if that happens they will introduce restrictions on Ebony also. I doubt instruments with Rosewood fretboards will become any more sought after...possibly the opposite. "
4. Very limited numbers of this wonderful bass were made. Should never have sold mine. If I can raise the cash in time Jim.......................................
5. Alain, Dunc, Mark, amazingly kind fellas, thank you so much Graeme, you name's going in my little book matey boy
6.
Not used flats since 80's when i had fretless basses. Might give them a go on the Jazz once the PJ gets here. Any recommendations on flats for Jazz ? Dave
I rather like these Dave, work very well on my jazz http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-9050-Bass-Strings-Stainless-Steel-Flatwound-9050CL-040-105-/371593762575?hash=item5684b6d70f:g:mWwAAOSwgApXBPVr
7. As per title, Fender Precision Bass Special, Deluxe Series. These were only for sale between 1999 and 2002, to be replaced by the active version. This is one of the 1st made, dated 1998, in preparation for sale after release of model at NAMM January 1999. These were factory made with Jazz neck and Precision body, one of the few models that were. Weight is 9lb 2oz. These passive versions do not come up very often. Good gigged condition with a few little dints. Made in Mexico, but remember, these were Deluxe Series and play as such. The upgrades on this one; Hipshot Lollipops, around £100 new. The two SD pups, around £150 new for the pair. SD3 (from Nate Mendel) and SJB-2 hot. Bad*ss around £80 used on average (no longer available new). So, around £330, if you do the lot yourself, probably around £400 if luthier involved. I COULD return this bass to factory spec for around £110. I COULD get around £160 selling the upgrades, EVEN at used prices. Quality Gator hard case included (around £160 when new). Any trial welcome in Wigan. UK insured courier delivery extra £25. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. 8. Not at all Alain. I have some session work to do do Feb/Mar. Producer is insisting on a Fender Precision with flats . Just glad he hasn't insisted on a colour . After recent culls I find myself P less
9. I wanted this but I guess you didn't get my pm a week ago. So I bought an Ashdown RM 800 instead. Nice amp but not as nice as a Streamliner imo. Regretfully I'm no longer in a position to buy this. GLWTS
10. Actually Russ, you got me thinking, wonder if Tim can do a similar plate for a Sunburst. Now THAT opens a whole new world of colour co-ordination
11.
That happened 1966

Yes that's right. An overstocking of 1966 pots saw them used on instruments up to around 1969.
So I was half right. That's unusually good for me! Thanks chaps.
12. I'm old and confused, but I seem to remember one year in the 60's Fender literally overstocked hundreds of thousands of pots. The result being, those date stamped ones were still being used years after Fender had bought them It could??? have been 64. Cliff and Rick's finest may well know better?
13. I need a Precision. The price above is a rough guide to a trade valuation. Looking for, American Special Precision Mike Dirnt ROADWORN (I have a few bob to put towards that). 2002 Fender Jazz, Burgundy Mist metallic with matching headstock. This is a Factory Special Run, there are very few in the UK. Mid weight at just over 9lbs. Based on the 60's Classic Series reissues (later to spawn the fabulous Road Worn series) this has been modded. Like any 15 year old bass it has some little dinks, but hard to photograph. House of Tone "House Special" jazz pick ups. Ki0Gon stack knob wiring loom. Both "ashtrays" (Fender parts). Fender gig bag. Any trial in Wigan. My apologies for photos, raining yet again. Mind you, this is one of those metallic finishes that changes with light, anything from almost copper metallic to purple metallic. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. Just bought an amp from Martin. Despite me going into serious dumb mode, he sorted everything, he's yet another EXEMPLARY Basschat ambassador. Fully recommended, can't thank you enough, cheers fella, Karl.
15. I kinda mentioned it elsewhere, but there is an Ashdown Klystron 1200 (yes 1200) for sale on a Facebook group. The guy is in Chapmanslade, Wiltshire, great bassist with Who's Next. Don't know if that is something you would be considering in going back to Ashdown, but at £450 it seems very good value. I had the 500 Klystron for a while and it was staggering.
16. Being the proud owner of 2 difficult to find (passive) P/J's, enjoy Cato. Terrific, versatile workhorse basses. Well done that man
17. Great job Russ, looks excellent. TimAl did a good job on your vision as well.
18. Rich, Dan Giles on the following page https://www.facebook.com/groups/689090051102626/ Even though he only put his ad up 6 hours ago, you will need to scroll down a good bit.
19. Tommo, title might benefit from editing? Some folk will see Embassy and just move on. New T/bird in title, well, they couldn't miss it. Just sayin'
20. If us few are so excited at this stage, perhaps we might need to pre order to avoid disappointment?
21. Hope not, the Tbird is supposedly replacing the current Pro 1V, which sells around £350/£400. Certainly not going to pay pushing a grand for an Epi, as good as they can be.
22.
The Embassy's cool but they've blundered the headstock... But never mind that - look at the Thunderbird! If those pickups are any good I'm getting one of each! I hope it's a creamier white than the recent Pro Tbirds though. We can but hope.
I've already diarised??? a reminder for July 3rd. Better get some gigs booked in Great spots Tommo and Nancy!
