1. Thanks guys. I've had the front off and tightened all front accessible parts. I don't really want to start farting about behind the baffle too much as I don't know a crossover from a roll over . I'm ok with basses (except electrics) but really clueless with amps and cabs, hence offering it cheaply for a confident person. If it goes to GEE's next week, I know it's going to be at least their £60 test fee, so if I spend a lot on it, it will be getting kept until it shuffles off it's own mortal coil
2. Is it not a Big Al prototype ?
3.
Ah, OK - that discounts a cable lying on one of the drivers, then. Worth a shot!
Damn, you really are very clever!
Hey Karl, if you get it fixed are you still gonna sell it?
Not a hope in Hell Think it's more an issue of sorting rather than fixing, if that makes any sense
4. Some might say Muzz and WOT were trying to see how gullible I am. Answer below So, I tried both suggestions. Results. Definitely less noticeable outside, BUT still very much a rattle/sympathetic vibration thing. No difference with the cab upside down, it's still there Andy, I've had a look at the back and there is no obvious way of taking the main back panel off, however, I will take the little central back panel (the little one with speakon, tweeter controls etc) off and see if I can identify the speakers. I think though at 38lbs (it's definitely a touch lighter than the Barefaced Super Twelves I've had) it's very likely they are Neo. As an aside, our very own Gary McKay completely rewired this a few months back. His sale post can still be found. Cheers, Karl. 5. Good luck Steve, hope they aren't guilty of mis-selling. Again, slightly off topic, but I KNOW somebody makes bridge saddles that have a flat bottom, rather than just being cylindrical. I've got a feeling it was on one of the Yam Attitude Sheehan models. Might do a bit of research over the weekend, BUT.......... if anybody knows
6. Slightly off topic Steve, but I thought pretty much all Sandbergs (from Electra up, I think) came with Plek done at factory and included in price of new bass? I hope the dealer hasn't charged extra for that/ If unhappy I would certainly be asking replace/refund, but I'd be VERY nice about it as this issue is a difficult one. Especially if it's playable and they do not stipulate parameters for "action" or saddle movement. Good luck and be nice with them all for as long as you can be .
7.
I have sympathy, but please don't moan about 50p a watt. If peeps don't need 800 watts or just don't need another amp, well, that's just the way it is. Hope you get a buyer soon though.
Not "moaning" it's called humour where I come from. Please delete your unneccessary post
8. Thanks guys. I can't find the spec either and I'm not going to get the chance to take the back off until the weekend. There are references to Celestions on ****bass. Muzz, me owld apfel strudel, that's a most excellent idea . I did take it into the warehouse last week to wind it up a bit. Couldn't hear the "sympathetic vibration". Mainly because the 3 foot cubed heating unit on the ceiling was being rattled out of it's mountings Perhaps best folks if we just leave it until further investigation at the weekend.
9. To put everybody in the picture; I'm expecting a Sat meet at Ferrybridge Services. A FB'er is confirming this tonight. If that doesn't happen, I'll let folks know. Strangely there is now a bit of a queue forming A sale is preferred but there has been a serious discussion re one trade, cheers, Karl.
10. Rich, I've tried everything in this little bloody house but I can't suss what it is, hence the comments. I've only used it for 3 gigs (hiatus until Feb) and it's performed very well with no issues BUT if I advertise it like that, and somebody goes to their 1st gig with it and it "kicks off" , it will be a problem for buyer and seller. Not sure I'm being a bit knee jerk tbh, will probably end up taking it to GEE's on Monday and just hope it's not too much
11. 38lbs, 2 x 12, titanium bullet tweeter, 4 ohm with poor fitting/tatty Roqsolid. IT HAS AN ISSUE AND SOLD AS SUCH! There is an awful rattling, the louder you go, the worse it gets. BUT, it only seems to do this in my house, not at gigs . This is only going to be up until the weekend. After that it goes into GEE Electronics in Warrington to get sorted. That might cost me £60. It might cost me £200, I really don't know. If I did, the cab would most likely not be up for sale. For right or wrong, I traded £500 worth of cabs for this, as weight and shape were ideal for me. So, if anybody is brave enough to take this on with the thought they can sort the issue, £275 collected from Wigan (or £275 meet up within 50 miles of Wigan). Are YOU brave enough to take the chance ? Cheers, Karl. PS. I've just noticed, seems like a previous owner has put their postcode on it. Actually 1st time I've noticed, so it's not obvious. 12. In Blue's example, post #2 a lot of folk would weed themselves out anyway. Touring US and Europe, well, it has to be goodbye to any day job. That should lead to a premise of requiring an experienced professional imo. One of the things I KNOW I bring to a band is experience. Even though I'm a grumpy fat old git, I can make suggestions about song arrangements that can make a difference. Just one example, from one band and one song. Bryan Adams, Summer of 69. I suggested doubling the length of the lead break, with both guitars doing tapped harmonies. It always went down very well and people nearly always kinda went "wow". Experience helps with arrangements and pleasing crowds IMO.
13. I've had 3 of the original headstock basses. Also an absolutely stunning Telecaster guitar copy. Without exception, the Fenixes I've had have been fabulous value for money.
14. History as I know it. Commisioned by James Stelfox, Starsailer. I bought off him. Think it went to Mojobass, then Ash. Superb bass I should never have sold, but without selling something (not easy and unlikely to be quick at the moment) it's not coming to me . Somebody is going to get happy.
15. Pm's replied, many thanks. Please remember this is the 800 watt model, with accessories . Trades I would consider are Streamliner 900 or Markbass TTE 500, possibly an ABM, cash adjustments either way. Namely valve pre amp (but NOT LM Tube). Cheers, Karl.
16. Nice one Ash, great job on that Ovation. Waiting for the Status (think I know which one) with baited trousers
17. Have a bump Mike. If the BF doesn't work out, please give me a shout .
18. There are a few around. These 2 are both passive. The Candy Apple is modified with Hipshot Lollipops, BadAss and Seymour Duncans. The Sea Foam's only mod is tortie plate. 20. And you put this up when I was on my way to buy a FSR 60's Classic Jazz RI. If you'd put it up 24 hours earlier it would have been mine
21.
Hi Karl, I've not experience the "walking bass head" problem with my gear since I ditched my orange terrorbass 1000 and matamp 610, which occasionally would get bored with my crap playing and try to leave the room in disgust. It mostly only did it if the floor was a little uneven though. I was going to just use an occy strap ( it sure if that's what they call them here, but it's a bungy coats with a hook at either end), and just go from one handle on the cab up and over the head and onto the other handle and just let the rubber feet on the amp do the rest.
Wonder if it's because I have to do a lot of walking bass lines now Damo
22. Think fluffo is looking for one of these in the "wanted" section.
23.
Did it sell at £600, though?
Don't be daft Jon. Now a year or so later they are trying to get £340 for it.
24. £10 EACH , including UK postage (£11 if you MUST pay by PAINPal). Please check correct plate for your bass. Ta, From CV 5O's Precision, badly sprayed by me. SOLD.
