1. Nice amp Lloyd, hope things are great Mr., have a bump .
2.
Strat knobs, too? That ain't no RI. Take it back.
Straight between the eyes as ever WOT. Have you ever even seen a fence?
3. Sorry Andy, you've confused me. Dave's fretless has heel truss rod adjustment and MIJ/serial number at base of neck, unlike OP's?
4. Here'a link to a recently sold one. The differences show. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/281608-198990-fender-jazz-bass-62-reissue-mij-sold/page__p__3023548__hl__mij%2062%20jazz__fromsearch__1#entry3023548 Your body has the earthing strip which suggests 62 RI. The ONLY way to confirm this is to take the neck off. The pocket should have something like JB62 LP. Assuming it is a 62 RI, the neck should also have an extra strap button on the back of the headstock (some call this a hootenany button I believe). On the question of refunds, well, caveat emptor, BUT, PMT have a lot more to lose than you so I would personally be pleasant but very firm with them.
5. I was the one that suggested advice was sought here folks. I'm pretty much certain no 60's reissue (Japan, US, Mex) had headstock truss rod adjustment. It also looks to me that the decal is over lacquer which I thought was only early original basses or Custom Shop. Whilst I might be wrong, I wouldn't like this to come back and bite the seller on the arse. As he has the receipt, I'm sure PMT would do the decent thing, IF I'm correct. Apologies if I have caused doubt where there is none. 6. Cheers Pete, I'm surprised as well but there ya go. PS, You owe me for replastering my little music room
7. Bloody Hell, didn't take you long Russ . I put 3 coats of Lemon oil on last night, greedy little mare ain't she. Sorry about the issues fella, I never got round to taking it apart. Wonder, with the pup size issue, if you try the original pup with John's loom??? Absolutely LOVED the scratchplate idea!!!! Subscribed
8. On more than one occasion I've met up with Basschatters to do a deal, and you know amost instantly they are going to be a long term long distance friend. Russ is one of those guys. If we both didn't have work to do, we would probably still be yakking about a certain R*** weilding YES bassist. Absolutely top class bloke, cheers Russ!
9. I've just bought an amp off Pete. Absolute perfection deal, lovely bloke and a great player. Yet another great ambassador for Basschat, fully recommended. Cheers Pete.
10. Not a 212 but even at 8ohms (around 350 watts from the Streamliner) I'd be very surprised if the following wouldn't cut it. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/288501-barefaced-big-baby-i-wroqsolid/page__pid__3179623#entry3179623
11. It is American albeit entry level American. Doubt Yank Fenders of any series are going to get cheaper anytime soon. Cheers, Karl
12. The first question that came up was "is it standard Fender dimension neck?" I hadn't got that far with the project, assumed it was, and had actually decided I wasn't going to change the neck anyway. The short answer is it isn't quite standard Fender fit. The long answer is pasted below. "Bear in mind all measurements are with a 6" steel ruler and poor eyesight. Nut, 41.5mm Neckplate. Both near as dammit the same as far as my eyes can see. Distance between centre of screw holes; Length Cheapo 52mm Am Special Precision 52mm Width C 38 mm Am S 38mm Neck width at back of neck where it joins the body. Again same C 60 mm Am S 60 mm Depth of body neck well where body meets neck Again the same, although this point is a little further into the body on the Am Spec, but that makes no difference. C 16 mm Am S 16 mm. THE DIFFERENT BIT. Distance from top of fretboard, to bottom of neck well, where the body fully meets the neck (between frets 15 and 16 on both). Cheapo 25MM Am Special Precision 22 mm SO, by my reckoning, a standard Fender neck would sit 3 mm lower at this point, which may cause saddle height issues????? Length from where neck fully meets body between frets 15 and 16 C 98 mm Am S 98 mm. THE OTHER DIFFERENT BIT. Width at 20th fret C 61 mm Am S 63 mm " The conversation between myself and the most splendid questioner has not been included, to protect the innocent
13. Sale due to overspending , consider this a project. Reasons to buy. Very light weight body (bass weighs 7lb 13oz). Unusual 'burst. Cheaper than getting a proper respray. Slab body style. Finally use some of thoses bits from the Man Cave Spares Drawer I bought this because I'd seen a US Precision in these colours in Howard's (Bass Doc) in the early 80's. And lusted for this 'burst ever since (hey, each to his/her own, don't judge). Plan was gold plate, tuners, bridge etc. I was happy to replace the neck as well, but it's not actually that bad. Pick up was going to be a Steve Harris. The above would have given me a very playable lightweight bass, with power and bling. Whilst it is playable, it is a "beginners bass". Tuners. Not great one of them is very stiff, but they all get there. Frets. At this standard would always benefit from levelling. Pick up. Fair but the tone rotary does bugger all. In summary, I could actually gig this bass as it stands, but the gig float is now low, due to over spending. So I'm not going to fork out £150 + on better quality hardware and pup at this moment. If it doesn't go, the project will recommence next year. Anyway, £75 collected close-ish to Wigan, £90 couriered UK. PLEASE, SOLD AS PROJECT. Don't expect Custom Shop!! Feedback below. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. 14. Ed, don't know if you still have this but I've sent a link to a guy on FB who is looking for one. Apologies if this has gone. Good luck if it hasn't.
15. No deal but I looked like I might be ampless for a gig, Kert offered to send one up for me. You fella, are a credit to the best of Basschat.
16. I just don't understand why this is still here??? And Joshua is an awesome fella to deal with.
17. Anybody else used these yet? Anything to report? I suddenly find myself ampless and need to sort it by Friday. These still look tempting.
18. Hello Gary. Never done this kinda thing before. How would a man know which was the volume and which tone before invariably putting them in the wrong way, 1st time. Do the actual 2 parts with the 4 poles have to go in in a specific orientation?
19. You know Damon is Australian don't you? So therefore they are the Wizard of Aus Damn, I'm too good for this place.
20. Rural or not, it would help if you gave your rough location. There are plenty of folk on Basschat who will let you visit them and try their gear. For instance, if you are within 40 or 50 miles of Wigan, you are welcome to come and try my TC E BH800 through my Schroeder 212. For a few visits to different folk, you may be able to try everything you are considering. One obvious slight word of caution that applies to most folk. My rig sounds VERY different in my tiny 3rd bedroom, to how it sounds removing plaster in the Dog and Duck Good luck and enjoy the search. It really is part of the fun.
21. Doh, my stupidity knows no bounds. Thanks chaps. Pass me the Tweed paint please.
22. Not sure if this should be in repairs and technical, but here we go. Me being never satisfied, does anybody know anybody within 100 miles of Wigan who could do an excellent job of making me the front in the second picture? Currently steel mesh front. Preferably using the current 9 screw holes? Thanks in advance, Karl. 23. Not my first time with Alan Fabulous bit of kit and as ever a superb, very easy deal. Thanks for everything Alan, until the next time. Fully recommended, a pleasure to deal with.
