There's one on Facebook (in Doncaster) at £650 and it's been up a couple of weeks. As much as I would love it, I still can't get round the boat anchor bit. One owner has clocked his at 12lb
People think that your'e desperate to sell mate. Its a bargain right there. What i usually do is to get the person to bank transfer £50 for a hold. That sorts the men from the idiots !
Thanks Mike. I usually take a members word as his bond. Up until this year that had only backfired once. I always put something out at a price I think fair to both buyer and seller. Cash price wise, this is a bit of a bargain despite the couple of issues. The last two I can find on here were out at £1100 and £1150. No hurry to sell. Possibly giving it a whirl at rehearsal this Thurs, see how I get on with it stood up.
Karl, do you have any experience of the U shape on the 74 AVRI Jazz and how this might compare to yours profile wise (as I have one of these and like the feel)? Clearly width would be different but I'm not fussed about that.... I've also had a 51 CIJ Precision but didn't like that neck at all really. Thanks Steve
Sorry Steve I've not been lucky enough to try a U profile jazz. I've not had a '51 either as I just know those big necks are going to be no good to me. I have had a Blue Flower 54 RI. Lovely bass in many ways but the neck on that was huge as well. Much deeper back to front that this 58 RI. Which in turn is a bit deeper back to front, than the quite shallow AV57RI and Road Worn Precision. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Cheers, Karl. -

But I would bet their spec is wrong. Believe me dood, they have form . I'll seeif I can sweet talk an owner to measure one.

I apologise, but I've been itching to post the "worst miming with a Rickenbacker" clip. https://www.youtube....h?v=aWaJ6vNyvaw You were warned!

On Fri night this was put on hold for a member. He changed his mind yesterday. This morning it was put on hold for another member, who also changed his mind. Last Wed a certain tribute bass was put on hold for somebody on Facebook. He appears to have gone awol. Even my patience is wearing thin. Karl. -
Congrats! Jazz with P neck is my flavour. Unfortunately I'm still looking for the perfect combination of body and neck. My first bass, a Squier affinity jazz currently has a warmoth P neck on it but there is a huge gap between it and the body. I've had a squier P neck on it as well but the truss rod went on that. It's been on my list for about 10 years to get a nice Fender jazz and find a direct replacement P neck but there is always something in the way! Needless to say, I am incredibly jealous! Enjoy the bass, it looks stunning!
The Squiers are a slightly different neck pocket I think. Might be worth keeping an eye out for a cheap Mex jazz, the Warmoth should fit much more accurately. Then sell the Mex neck to recoup some funds.
A good time to ask as I'm researching P basses too! I know you've had a 62RI with a 42mm nut. I have one here that might go for the chop. I see the '63 & '58 P's are as you say, 7.25 on 44mm. The two basses on my radar are: Steve Harris P. 7.25" 41mm and the Mike Dirnt 9.5" at 40mm. The only thing is that both of these have fat necks that you might not like but I love the idea despite not having tried them myself! Oh wait! 70's P basses. The Nate Mendel is a 7.25 with a 40mm nut. - it's apparently based on his own 71 (??) P bass. - I'm also wondering if my rather awesome 'law-suit' is the same spec, but have to say, is a better bass than the Nate I played recently!
Dood, you might want to revisit the 'Arry nut width spec fella
